I wonder if that is separate programming from what is on their cable channel? Or a changeover in what they broadcast?

I should update that they went back to their MyN programming on 27-1 the day after I made the last post, with color bars on 27-6....maybe the AMG TV was a foreshadow of their plans for 27-6

Perhaps for good? I mentioned KCPM on the "Cursed TV Stations" thread on RadioDiscussions.

And from Wikipedia:

But they did file it eventually, and will likely receive a small fine and then a renewal, unless someone actually challenges the renewal for some reason.

Proving that if you put something on-the-air -- no matter what it is -- somebody will watch it:

I've just spent time watching the transmission of somebody unloading equipment out of their white pick-up at what I assume is the tower site.

Better than most daytime TV!....there are many of us geeks that would like them to have other camera views of getting setup, details of equipment used, etc..

Channel 38 update...4-1 is now showing infomercials in highly compressed 480i (4:3); 4-2, 4-3, 4-4,4-5,4-6 are all black screens; 7-1 is a blue screen

I wonder if the new owners of Channel 38/Valley City (which is playing musical call signs right now) can be persuaded to move the channel 38 antenna up 200 feet to the top of the tower? Could easily gain them another 10-20 miles in each direction of range. Last time I drove by there, the channel 4 batwings were still on top...

It is sad that under Hoak's management, they never maximized their DTV allocations, and just made their transitional facilities permanent.

KRDK getting 'Movies!'

First thing I've noticed about new content:

I'm hoping they work out the current color saturation and bandwidth allocation in the process. :-)

Very good news...
I was afraid that it was going to be only infomercial, international, and religious programming from looking at their Chicago station ( http://www.rabbitears.info/market.ph...=68061#station ), which is a REAL waste of the spectrum. Hopefully since not many of the "DTV" networks have affiliates in this area, we will get more of them on RF Channel 38.

IMHO a multiplex Movies!, Antenna TV, Retro TV, This TV, WeatherNation, and alike would be very sellable in this market, especially if they go the "Must-Carry" route with cable companies in the market instead of demanding payment from them.

The Movies website has the following listed on their 'where to watch' section:

4.2/4.4 (Launches 2/1/15)

I can't even imagine the fun it will be trying to get guide listings updated for a station with no contact info. :-)

Exactly, who do I contact if I want to advertise on the new channel :-)

Does anyone know how agreements with affiliates work for these networks that are intended to be DTV subchannels? Is it like many radio networks where they just have to pass a certain number of national ads along, or do the local affiliates have to pay them $$$ in addition to that?

There are varying models. Some subchannels just lease the space and sell 100% of the ad time. Others do time splits where there's national ad time and local ad time and the local station gets to sell the local ad time. No money changes hands between station and network in that case.

To my knowledge, Movies! is an ad split network. Can't guarantee that, but I believe that to be the case.

Thanks for the insight Tripp..

So if one had a station, they could work out a multiplex of such networks and be financially beneficial to both the station owner and network...Next time I see a old TBN LPTV being sold for a thousand dollars in an area not served by many broadcasters.... :-)

Many of the networks want cable carriage in order to affiliate, particularly the ones that lease the bandwidth. Or, they may make a deal whereby if another station who has cable comes along and wants the affiliation, then you can be dropped.
