Adding 30.2 and 28.2 to KVLY's broadcasting family opens the door for earlier weekday newscasts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and a simulcast of the noon news on KXJB, he said.

I know hotdogs mentioned above he(?) is getting 30.X and another member posted they are getting 28.X
30.x out of the towers at the VNL studios and north of East Grand Forks, 28.x out of the Blanchard tower

If the LPTVs are transmitting CBS in 1080i, might they change CBS on KVLY to 480 widescreen (I doubt CBS would let them drop from a full power signal) and put other Weigel channels removed from KRDK on KVLY?

That must have been some helluva skip last night given the broadcast patterns of both. Pick them up with good signal? I was writing 30 off completely at my location - but maybe there might be something to work with.

I have a great antenna. Get krdk several nights a week and kxjb 11 many nights late with the skip. Love ME Tv Saturday nights. seems to move up the valley nicely . even get PBS 49 from bemidgi once or twice a year. really hoping wdaz adds more than justice to replace the cw.

K30LR-D (Grand Forks) went on the air today, seems to have PSIP issues now. CBS in 1080i on 30-5, CW in 720p on 30-6, blank image in 480i on 30-7

I was thinking they may use the 11.x virtual channels for those also, similar to what kstp/kstc do with 5.X in Twin Cities..

I find it interesting that Midco added KRDK-TV HD on channel 4. Usually the single digits are the SD versions, and the 600 range is the HD signals, but they put the HD right on channel 4.

Maybe a sign of no more SD, and just going with the HD channel only?

Amen to that. Every channel having 9:00 and 10:00 news is a bit excessive. And why all the push for 9:00 news - even my 90 year old grandma can stay up for the 10:00 news. Just sayin.

I dont see that happening. After all the Forum article mentioned KVLY saying CW on 28.2 & 30.2
In other markets where Gray did this (put stations on the LP) they didnt combine PSIP with the "mothership"

I did a re-scan of channels after the CW change and I noticed a "H and I" channel pop up but nothing on it. Is it connected to the Heroes & Icons channel? I googled around but did not see anything that it was going to be active in our area. Anyone know if we are getting it locally soon?
Thanks!

Used to be on KRDK along with Decades and Movies! until last summer (2016). I suspect I was correct that KVLY flexed some muscle with Weigel to get them removed from KRDK and may eventually be on their signals. I'm guessing we'll see CBS go SD on KVLY (remain 1080i on the LPTVs) and then another subchannel or two on KVLY (RF channel 44)

I got a response from VNL on one of their social media outlets in early Sept that H&I was being targeted for sometime late October/early November.

In belated news, KRDK is on CableOne channel 4 (as well as Midco), KXJB moved to channel 9 on both providers, and KXJB's CW channel is now on CableOne channel 38 (Midco channel 16 in F-M or 17 in GF)

It looks like it's now available OTA also, per reports from family NW of Grand Forks.

The forum stations on the east side of the state (WDAY and WDAZ) now have Ion Network on their .4 subchannel. Not sure about the west side of the state

Per TV listings sites (TV Guide, TV.com, TitanTV) this is statewide. All sites have Ion on the .4 subchannel of both KBMY and KMCY

I swear I saw it on Titan (via the WDAZ listings page yesterday) - but may have been mistaken. You're correct - at the moment on Rovi sources TV.com and TV Guide

Anybody in the north Valley having problems with tuning WDAZ? Tuning to 8 locks up both the TiVo in living room and bedroom TV tuner. A 3rd tuner (mediasonic homeworx) is able to function properly, but only shows the current and next program info in the guide (where other channels show a whole day's worth of program info in the PSIP). Before TiVo locks up, I can see it shifting back-and-forth between virtual 8-1 and physical channel 8-5 in the diagnostics screen - like it's having trouble parsing or reading something.

Sounds like WDAZ is having issues with their PSIP. Have you tried calling there and maybe speaking to an engineer?

Unfortunately they don't have any engineering people on site. They said they have passed on the observation to the Fargo office. I suppose it's possible that both my TiVo and bedroom TV decided to malfunction ... at the same time ... but unlikely. I'm currently in Colorado until Friday, so I won't be able to further check symptoms or resolutions until then. I was hoping there was still enough local readers of this thread in the North ... like @egftechman ... that could possibly confirm or refute my observations.

Updating the issue with the WDAZ signal. It appears fixed as of last night. Although I was never contacted by master control in Fargo, the PSIP contents look normal and even more important, both the TiVo and bedroom TV are functioning normally again. :-)

Don't know if anybody local reads this thread anymore. After the issues above with the PSIP, the time report by the STT in the PSIP signal fluctuates all the time for WDAZ. For most of the days this week, for example, it was running 2 minutes fast. Today it is now running 2 minutes behind. It can fluctuate day-to-day anywhere from 5 minutes slow -- to correct time -- to 5 minutes fast. You never know what you are going to get. This, of course, wreaks havoc trying to record programming using M-star based boxes, for example, that use the time reported in the PSIP.

I've never been able to get WDAZ to give me a contact. Since all of their technical issues are handled in Fargo, I'm wondering if anybody here can tell me what they observe for WDAY over-the-air? Is PSIP accurate there? I'm reaching for straws trying to determine if it is something with the way WDAZ gets their signal from Fargo. If I knew whether the same happens with WDAY, it may help expand possible social media contacts to try.

I still check this thread every once in a while. It's been pretty quiet around here as of late.

I don't watch anything OTA, so I don't know what they are sending for PSIP.

So it looks like KVRR/KBRR/KJRR/KNRR are going to carry Packer preseason games.
This weeks game (8/10) is on AntennaTV due to Vikes being on the -1
Week 2 its on the mothership
