The 31s

Odd... since the wee hours of the morn 31.4 and 31.5 have been broadcasting per usual, but 31.1, 31.2, 31.3, and 31.7 all have nary a sound nor image. Well, I take that back, 31.7 is displaying an image of the words "No signal". So I guess there's really a signal there to tell us there is no signal there. Did I already say Odd?

The last time I was able to pull in 31 was a few days ago, and I recall the "no signal" message on 31.7 then. Maybe WJDE dropped Soul of the South. As for 31.1-.3, that's weird. I'm hoping it has to do with getting ready to drop Me-TV so that 2.3 can start airing it in the next day or so, but I doubt it...

When I noted 31.7 earlier, I meant 31.6. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. And by the way, 31.4 and 31.5 are stll the only 31s on the air as of this morning.

31.1,31.2,31.3 and 31.6 have been that way since early morning. This has changed as of this afternoon. 31.1 has disappeared complety. 31.2 and 31.3 show a test pattern while 31.6 is blank. I'm assuming they are working on the problem and will soon be on the air. I'm also hoping that they are getting ready to change from Me TV to Heros & Icons with ME TV going to 2.3 but I doubt it.

31.1 is back on the air with Me TV. They have rearanged their channels though. The new channel line up is now:
31.1 - Me TV, 31.2 - Heros & Icons, 31.3 - Decades, 31.4 - Shopping, 31.5 - Sonlife, 31.6 - Movies!. It looks like they dropped the Soul Of the South network to put Heros & Icons back on. I hope this doesn't mean a delay in Me TV moving to 2.3.

My guess is that Media General has decided against carrying Me-TV on 2.3 and that it will stay on 31.1 for the foreseeable future.

I hope not. It seems odd to stick Movies! on the end away from the other entertainment channels. No one at channel 2 seems to know anything, or they're not telling. Either way, this is dragging on too long.

I'd guess Movies! Is temporarily parked at 31.6.

Looks like Soul of the South, which had been at 31.6, has bitten the dust nationally.

Titan TV

I just checked Titan TV and the schedule for 2.3 has disappeared. It just shows 2.1 and 2.2. I hope this is not a bad sign.

Just talked to Michelle Dube @ WKRN and she said that 2.3 was taken off of Titan listings probably because LiveWell is leaving as of April 30 and they do not want to keep promoting it. She said that she hopes to have an answer as to when ME-TV will begin by the end of the day or tomorrow. As far as she knows, it is still coming and corporate is just taking their time. So I guess we will know when we know.

Not as of last night. They were still showing LiveWell on 2.3. If I had to guess, I would say MG is probably going to wait till the day of (April 30/May1) to do it. But that's just my opinion.

Did you ever get a response to your question? I am thinking bout the same thing and I live in Mount Juliet. Were you successful getting channel 31.1?

thanks

No luck getting 31.1 or 7.1. I put up a 30' antenna outside, I get all the "full power stations" with no problem even Bowling Green 13.1 at night but no 31.1 or 7.1. My TV tuner can detect a signal but it is just too week to lock a picture. It's the same for me on 7.1. I am considering adding another 5' mast and attaching it to my chimney. I also added a preamp, no luck. Attached a picture of my set up.

I looked at the Longley-Rice coverage map and it depends on your location. Most of Mt Juliet should receive channel 31 OK. Try going to tvfool.com and check your address. It should give you a good idea of which stations you should receive.

I have found WJDE 31, which currently carries ME-TV, *very* difficult to receive. I live in Nashville, on the south side of the city, just a little north of Brentwood. I currently have a 4-bay bowtie antenna (i.e. DB4) that I made myself set up outside, just beside my house on the ground, with an RCA pre-amp attached and cannot pick it up at all with that. (However, I can pick up low-power VHF station WRTN 6 pretty well.)

I also have a couple of 27-element corner yagi UHF antennas (each about 3 feet long). This type antenna is supposed to be one of the strongest and most directionally intense/sensitive. If I aim one of those JUST right, with the pre-amp attached, I can tune in 31 on my Samsung HDTV, but the quality is a crapshoot. Might be decent for a bit but then becomes unwatchable. I tried combining both yagies together but that didn't really help. Also didn't help whether they were positioned near the ground or on my roof.

Now, I will say that I have issues with multi path reception problems where I live (especially with channel 2) -- may have to do with all the big mature trees around me. I've determined that the digital tuner in my 2008 Samsung HDTV is pretty much crap when it comes to dealing with multi path. I also have a digital TV tuner that connects to my iMac via USB and it deals with multi path MUCH better than my actual TV does -- whereas breakup, sound loss and intermittent total picture loss make channel 2 pretty much unwatchable on my Samsung (with just about every antenna I've tried), the same feed to the tuner connected to my iMac produces virtually perfect picture and sound. However, that said, even the iMac tuner struggled to consistently pull in channel 31 with an amplified yagi set up outside.

I write all this to tell you: don't get your hopes up about getting channel 31 way out there in Lebanon or even Mt. Juliet. I'm only 6.4 miles away from their tower in downtown Nashville and I've pretty much given up on 31. Here's hoping Me-TV moves to 2.3!

Makes sense. I don't expect anything to happen before May 1. But if Live Well does go dark at the end of April, as Ms. Dube at WKRN said, and Me-TV doesn't go live on May 1, I'll be much less hopeful that it ever comes to channel 2. Someone on here said that MG has chosen not to replace Live Well with anything on pretty much all their other stations, so it wouldn't shock me if they ended up doing the same at WKRN, given how slowly all this has played out. We'll see...

I hope it is still coming to 2.3, but as of yesterday 31.1 has started identifing as Me TV Nashville and having local commercials again. They had dropped the Nashville in their identification in early January just identified as Me TV. However Me TV's website still says 2.3 TBD, so I'm still hoping.

The reason I suggested you look at the Longley-Rice coverage map is because the signal strength in Mt Juliet looks about the same as it is here in Gallatin. I can receive channel 31 at my location and I am 27 miles away from the transmitter. I have checked two different locations here (3 miles apart) and received channel 31 in both locations. My signal is light green which most of Mt Juliet is. Lebanon shows Red or no signal strength. If your location shows green you probably can get it with an outside antenna. Again check your address on TV Fool and it should tell you weather you have a chance or not.
