That's from a very old permit which I think expired. I've fixed that.

LPTV stations were not protected in the repack. As such, WRTN-LD and the other LPTVs will have to file for new channels, if necessary, at a later date.

Wonder why WTVF is moving from 25 to 36 only to have another station take 25?

When news breaks...we fix it.

WJFB has a much smaller coverage area. It fits better there given the moves of surrounding stations.

WRTN-LD will definitely have to file for a new channel if it wants to stay on the air, right? Its current spot, UHF 7, will be taken by WNPT in the repack (Sept/Oct 2019).

Has the FCC explained how that will work for displaced low-power stations like WRTN? Will they be able to file for and receive a new channel so that they can begin broadcasting on a new frequency either before or during their region's repack phase? Or will they just have to go off the air for some indeterminate period of time before possibly resuming broadcasts on a new frequency?

Yes, WRTN-LD will need a new channel.

There's a filing window coming, the date is TBD, where LPTV stations will be able to file for new channels. What any particular LPTV station does will be specific to its unique circumstances.

I guess WRTN-LD must be officially off the air. I haven't received them in about two weeks. Anyone else getting it?

No, I just checked. They're still on the air on channel 6. My reception is pretty poor right now, but then that station is always close to the line for me in terms of barely sufficient signal strength.

I have been checking the signal strength on channel 6. It is much weaker then it usually is. I am getting a signal strength of 35 to 45 showing on my tv when it usually is in the 60's. It is still watchable here though. They may be having transmitter problems as every other channel is at its usual signal strength.

Lug1, you are correct. I just got an e-mail back from Rick, WRTN owner. He said, "We are having transmitter issues which we are repairing." So, there you have it. At first, I thought I was having a problem with my setup, but then everybody else has also been having trouble receiving the channel. So that is when I e-mailed him.

Has anyone noticed that WZTV 17.3 is no longer transmitting? The description in the lineup says 17.3 WX. Guess we may have lost Antenna TV. It was good while it lasted.

I was watching it this morning, 17.3. Antenna TV still there but running Education programing for kids on Saturday morning. Haven't heard of any changes coming on 17.3, although Sinclair has a new channel they may want to add/or exchange in the lineup.

I'm getting 17.3 fine. The guide I'm getting on 17.3 (on my TV) shows educational programing until 12 noon.

WXNat is on 17.2, a weather channel. Maybe they hit the wrong control at the station?

Have a great weekend!

kbuke, I'm still getting all three (17.1, .2, &.3) what I consider normally, but I'm East of Nashville (Hermitage) & you are West of Dickson? Maybe it's the warmer weather, or a weather front, or possibly, you could try a reboot of your equipment?

Good luck!

Channel Changes

58.3 has changed from Grit to Charge and 17.2 has changed from weather to TBI. I don't know if Grit or weather will reappear anywhere else or not. I will miss Grit if it does not reappear somewhere else.

That's TBD not TBI on 17.2. I don't know how I entered the channel name wrong.

Sinclair is slowly taking over the digital market place in Nashville with their own networks, Comet, ANS, Charge! ect. With their acquisition of Tribune Broadcasting (METV, Antenna TV and Movies! Networks) I expect to see even more changes in the dignet landscape locally. There is only one or maybe two networks I would like to see move to a full power TV station OTA in Nashville. The Movies! Network and Heroes & Icons, both are located on a low power station (WJDE) that does not reach beyond the skyline of Nashville. My favorite or most viewed networks are METV, Cozi, and Antenna TV. I did watch Grit occasionally and still watch THIS network when possible, the signal on WRTN is beyond repair and terrible.

Frankly I don't understand how there can be so much duplication of networks in this market. I can easily receive 3 HSN channels, 3 QVC channels, 2 ASN networks, what a waste of air space in my view.

Actually, MeTV and Movies! are not owned by Tribune. They are owned by Weigel Broadcasting.

I'm just curious if anyone else is not receiving any of the Channel 31 signals since the storm passed through on Sunday night. I'm receiving the Channel 42 signals clear as a bell (I think they broadcast from around the same place, I may be wrong about that). Thanks!

All channel 31s are back up with a strong signal this afternoon, so "nevermind". Thanks anyway.

Just to let people know, WJNK-LP digital channel 34 is on the air now. Same tower and power as WKUW-LD channel 40, but it is a little lower on the tower though than channel 40.

I always get all of the channel 40's, but still no 34 (after 3 rescans).
