I wonder what they are going to do with the Chocowinity Studios? It sounds like shinny new equipment to me, I hope they add 5.1 surround!

WITN Doppler radar is not working. Last night I woke up at 2 AM to torrential rain and turned on the TV to find a blank map over me with just a slight patch of green on one spot of the map. I turned on Directv active radar and saw a solid line of yellow and red all across the screen that the beam was not reading.

Katie Jeffries Joining WJXX-WTLV in Jacksonville

By Merrill Knox on April 30, 2012 5:30 PM

Katie Jeffries is joining WJXX-WTLV, the Gannett duopoly in Jacksonville, as a general assignment reporter, TVSpy has learned.

Jeffries makes the move from WCTI, the ABC-affiliate in Greenville, NC. She was hired as the Greenville bureau chief in April 2010 and was promoted to weekend morning anchor in May 2011. Prior to joining WCTI, she worked at WHIZ, the NBC-affiliate in Zanesville, OH.

Jeffries’ job was posted on the WCTI website this morning. A job listing for a weekend meteorologist was also posted; station sources tell TVSpy that Dominic Brown is bound for Norfolk, VA.

^ Two big losses for 12

Happy for them that they're moving on to bigger and better things though!

Agreed. I will miss watching Katie... She always appears to have a great personality, even when reporting bad news.

I just noticed Anderson is in HD on channel 7. Is this new? I haven't noticed before.

Not sure if it's live or (HD) Memorex.

Check out WNCT HD right now. I think I might faint. I also hear Dolby Surround (well sorta) center channel audio! A big pat on the back to their engineer. Widescreen news commercials?

Also news is in widescreen, but not HD. Channel 9 time and temp bug appears to be in HD, but main news graphics still SD.

I Notice to Jamei that WNCT temp and 9 logo were HD, and it seemed to me that the graphics may have been HD? If not the looked really good. WNCT audio is now as good as or better than any other channels I can pick up near here. They had the picture zoomed in a bit too much during the news though. I guess they will get it adjusted as they learn. Seems everything aired is in widescreen that isn't HD too. I think WNCT is working to make a comeback to the viewers. We've been plenty patient I think.

I just looked at their news and it looks like all they did was stretch the existing 4:3 picture. Even the weather graphics are stretched.

Edit: yes that is exactly what they did. I could have done that with my tv's picture settings. Not impressed, channel 9!

9 has taken the cheapo route, but at least they have done something with their news. It is much better than it was. They have the aspect correct now and the graphics aren't cut off any longer. Also I hope other shows will be given in HD like Dr. Phil and not just wide-zilla vision. I am happiest with the audio correction, so no more blasting voice coming out of the left and right channels on the Dolby Digital surround.

I wouldn't even call this cheapo. Going 16:9 480i is the cheapo route. Stretching whatever you already have is just pathetic. Since everything is technically already center cut and then stretched, there is a LOT of the pic that people can no longer see on analog cable.

I'd also venture to mean this means 9 has no interest in doing actual HD anytime soon...

CBS looked really good last night on WNCT, I didn't see any blurry scenes at all. Looks like they have that issue taken care of, but I've got to say that I'm not a fan of Stretchovision either!

I need some help with an antenna recommendation. I'm north-west of Washington. Looking for an antenna to mount in the attic, that would serve two different TV's. Before I go out and order one online, I tried several cheap antennas from Wal-Mart and Lowes. I had the best luck with this model from Wal-Mart: http://www.usa.philips.com/c/tv-and-...25t_27/prd/en/ The signal strengths for the channels I care about are WITN - 9/10, WCTI - 5/10, WYDO - 9/10 and WNCT - 9/10. The signal for WCTI is low enough it starts to break up every once in a while.

Here's my TVFool report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...de65e7c2655873

I have limited space in the attic, so I'm trying to avoid something large, like a CM4228, or similar. The smaller the better. All I really care about are the channels I mentioned above.

Check out the link below. You'll have to determine which antenna will do the job in the space that you have. I recommend any designed for channels 7-51, as channels 2-6 are not in use in our area and the antennas are smaller.

OK, so you need a horizontal UHF/VHF hi model. Attic reception is better than living room reception, but I'm afraid you will have to work to find an acceptable sweet spot where you won't experience those annoying sound losses and digitizing on the screen every time a gusty storm or windy weather is occurring. You can try and see, but I would strongly suggest mounting on the A frame of the roof peak if possible?

This antenna below or similar is what I would try in an attic. Don't forget about ION HD on channel 51

It seems like WCTI studios are a regular "lightning rod." Apparently they got hit during a storm the other night again. I wonder if they are lacking a good earth ground on their tower there or something? I was not around Saturday night, but I hear lightning was some kind of awful here, but no sign of my electronics or anything being hurt.

Speaking of WCTI and weather... Dominic Brown is headed to WTKR (3/CBS) Norfolk. Same station raided Channel 12 previously with Alize Proisy...

I was visiting my parents this weekend and they were frustrated because everything they recorded on WNCT on Suddenlink in the last week would record in multiple segments. They would have one for about 30 mins, a couple of 2 min ones and about an 8 minute one. Were they possibly blinking on and off the air or is it another problem? Did not have this problem on the other networks or WRAL. Her friend had the same problem.

On a side note, glad Dominic Brown is coming to WTKR. I only get the VA channels where I like so seeing him and Alize Proizy make their news alot better. They also got Bill DiNicola from WITN. He is now a producer for WTKR.

I moved the same antenna up a bit higher and ran a new piece of coax for it instead of the two pieces I has to piece together with a barrel connector to get it long enough. I now get witn, wnct, wcti, a thousand PBS channels (plus ion) at 10/10 signal level. Signal dropped on WYDO to 7-8/10. Not sure why wcti and wydo switched levels like that.

I'm was hoping for something a bit smaller than that winegard, and I don't really feel like putting one on the roof either. I guess I was hoping one of those 1 or 2 bay bowtie antennas like this (http://pimages.solidsignal.com/TD-DB2_zoom.gif) below would work. I didn't realize they were UHF only. Would a smaller version of that winegard work OK in an attic?

Look at an antennacraft HBU-22... A poster from Benson wrote about it on Radio Shack site and says he gets all the channels with it out there.

Looked, and got one. It's a much more manageable size than the Winegard. It came in at lunch and I couldn't resist throwing it together and trying it out. Just resting on some junk in the attic, pointed up at about a 30 degree angle, I was able to get 10/10 on WITN, WNCT, WYDO, and WCTI. So far so good. I'll get it mounted on a mast later.

Thanks for the recommendation. I cant complain for $26.99

Cool! I guess it is as good as the reviewers say. A Surf City reviewer posted about it also on Solid signal

Did anyone get to see Eric Breaden ( Victor Newman ) from The Young and the Restless this weekend. He stayed in Bath over the weekend and was swimming near the Bath bridge and was on the Washington waterfront.
