I've ordered an uplink so I can put my weather station data on the web. I've had this all in one weather sensor for over a year and just got interested about putting it on wunderground because there is no station on my side of town, but the closest to my location on there that tends to be accurate is the Western Blvd sensor at Jones Onslow, but there is no rain gauge there. The Air Station site tends to run a few degrees less, and rainfall varies quite a bit at times. Any of you folks that may be interested in checking out conditions stay tuned here and I will update once I get it streaming. I figure it might help the weather departments out some too.

Data from my David Vantage VUE station gets uploaded to my personal web site every ten minutes via Virtual Weather Station software. And yes, mets from one particular station use the rainfall data almost daily as the airport rain gauge here has been very unreliable for several years now. :-)

My data is now Live on weather underground and their interactive map. I use the acurite 5 in 1, (gift) and I have done everything I can to be sure the information it is putting out is right. I had to adjust the rain gauge just a bit, but now it is spot on. The only thing I think needs work is the temperature spike as the sun is in the far western sky. Right now it is peaking a little high.. I see a vantage vue in Kinston! There is also one on Mill creek here in Jacksonville if you go to weatherlink.com just down a few streets from mine, but it is not good on wind and rain. I think it might be under trees or something...

The tropospheric ducting has been incredible for the last few days. Interference so bad that last night I could not get a signal from outside to my weather station.

Let me just point a little WITN CH 7 observation. In the last two weeks or so we have not been privileged to Mr. Dan Yesnoski illustrious reports. Earlier this afternoon I went to the WITN CH 7 site. Specifically their bios section did not have Mr. Yesenoski listed.

It looks like the stations have been changing a lot of personalities lately, especially WCTI reporters.

IMHO Mr. Yesenoski does NOT perform like a top reporter particularly when you compare his style and his problematic voice inflection to the national top reporters.

How about the network news, both ABC and CBS that I saw this evening and depicting the Storm coming on-shore and saying we get 4+ inches of rain when that isn't even projected by ANY reliable computer modeling... Why would they do this? Fear-mongers.

Yes I have seen him on WCNC. Seems like a young college dude to me. But he seems to be a good reporter, but I haven't really paid that close attention.

Mr. Tyler:
Sir, I have watched at least five of his reports. His problem as I emphatically stated is his inconsistent voice inflection in order to highlight a/or point/s during a report. I find that tendency to be very annoying and distracting.
Put it this way if I can spot such a problem the professionals will be much quicker than I am to assess it.

For what possible purpose? I know DirecTV sometimes carries NYC and LA locals nationwide if you have reception difficulties or no local affiliate. Because of the storm?

Yes, storm coverage. They've been uplinked national for that reason before.

I think everyone is tired of storms and coverage, and just destructive weather. I know I am. I am glad this storm didn't plow onto land like it looked like it might.

Anyone know what's going on at FOX? Are they building a new set for 12 maybe since they moved FOX to the old 12 desk?

No, it is the same set and will remain that way. They only change the background from FOX to NewsChannel 12.

I watched a lot of the coverage on D* channel 361-1 here in Greensboro. For the resources WCTI have available, I thought they did a very good job in some not so great conditions. The shortness of the storm certainly helped in not stretching resources too far.

We had both our sat trucks out, one at Wrightsville Beach which moved to Morehead City late Thursday afternoon and the other at Nags Head. At times the storm was so heavy we couldn't deploy the dish because of the wind.

All opinions expressed (unless otherwise noted) are the posters and NOT the posters employers. The poster in NO WAY is/will speak for his employers.

Directv virtually always shows live coverage of events like this from local affiliates nationwide.

I thought they did good too. I was alternating between them and WNCT.

Skip Waters is like a walking encyclopedia on ENC. How quickly he can draw from all that knowledge is amazing.

I watched Skip just about the whole time. He said from the beginning that the HWRF model was a good model to judge, and he turned out to be right on. You can't beat the experience he has.

I saw WGHP footage from Wrightsville, and I also thought WCTI overall just did a fantastic job. Like I said, I can only imagine that everyone is so tired of all these storms, and they wear you down in a hurry. I know that as I get older, I become more and more sick of them. When I was younger, I thought they were more exciting.

Thanks Amanda for joining in. So they just took down the old FOX set and will only use the ABC set now I take it?

Jamie McCutcheon posted on facebook a few weeks ago that they done away with the Fox set to make room for a new weather wall.
Maybe they will have a new walk on wall like WITN.
