Are you in Irondequoit? Just wondering. Which antenna do you use? I like having the Buffalo ones, but I need to point west and fiddle around sometimes to get them.. I'm in Chili. Often have WSYT if pointing east.

Hello there.

I have a Winegard 8200. I'm using it for FM as well since it does VHF-Lo.

I can also pick up channel 27 from Canada. I get lots of fuzz on channel 6 from Canada as well - that one is still analog.

I live in Greece, almost all the way to Charlotte and almost all the way down to the lake. In the winter, I can see the smoke stacks from Russell Station from my front door.

Channel 27? Is that from the Peterborough area...CBC/TVO or Global? And which channel 6 are you talking about? Could that be Deseronto? Aside from some of our (stateside) LPTV's, I really didn't think there was much of anything that was still analog.

Yes, 27 is out of Peterborough, it's a repeater of Global out of Toronto. It is the strongest signal I get out of Canada.

Chan 6 is CTV out of Deseronto and still analog. IIRC, Canada's transition happened after ours and the rules were different.

I did some playing, I received CHEX, CICA and CKVR. These are not reliable though.

I have several splitters in my system, and may try to swap them out with some powered ones. Maybe that will provide better results.

Not bad! CKVR is quite a catch! Yes, the Canadian transition occurred more than a year after ours. Funny that Deseronto would still be analog. All I had heard was that CBC had left dozens of repeaters as analog due to the rural areas that the signals served.

The cool thing is - I got CKVR while the antenna was pointed slightly southwest.

It was a clear, cold night.

Canada only required stations to go digital in selected major markets. Smaller markets were exempt, and so a number of CTV and Global repeaters in more rural areas remain in analog at this time.
