Presumably, ZGS leases the channel from them to increase the range of Telemundo, so they map it to 31-2 so it's associated with their main channel 31 mapping on their other signals.

I can't find a WESF.

WEFS is actual 30. PBS
WESH is actual 11. NBC

Thanks....WESF is a fairly new callsign for 68.1. I forgot what the old CS was.

I think you have some letters transposed. Eastern Florida State.. EFS. Prior calls WBCC.

Don is right. When BCC switched to Eastern Florida State the call letters changed for the PBS station here as well. WDSC is 15.1 out of Daytona, 24.1 is UCF and 68.1 is WEFS.

All,

Ihave a couple of HTDV Windows Media Center OTA receivers (Vista and Windows 7 Pro) that stopped being able to show WESH 2 (Orlando) a couple of days ago (signal strength is not good anymore - but it used to be 5/5).

Originally the WMC guide info updated to physical channel 24 (instead of 11) ... but I have manually changed that back to the 11. However WESH 2 has not returned.

Is anyone else experiencing this WMC WESH 2 "No service is available" problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I could check to determine the root cause of the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help?

Aussie

It seems that the ATSC M/H (Mobile DTV) channels that were available here have gone dark. Wonder if this is deliberate since all of the stations are dead.

OK ...found the problems ...

Short story …

I do think that Microsoft downloaded a new Guide moving Channel 2.1 to physicalchannel 24 (instead of 11). But ... after I corrected that (manually) ... thesignal strength was still low on WESH 2.1. Even though a "TV" was ableto receive WESH 2.1 well, off the same antenna.

The other problem was that my antenna was not pointed correctly at WESH 2transmitter.

Longer story …

After correcting the Guide problem … I rewired the system to take the VHF/UHF lineamplifier out of the system. No joy.

So I “hiked”into the attic to check the antenna. The reason I resisted checkingearlier is that the antenna is literally boxed in by a lot of cardboardboxes (in storage) so it is "protected." It hasn’t moved for 17 years. When I got up intothe attic … it looked like a tornado had hit. Normally I would see orderlystacks of boxes … what I saw was stacks of boxes in total disarray. Sure enough,I dug through the boxes to the antenna and found the VHF Yagi was almostpointed at the ground ... much to my dismay. Correcting its orientation broughtWESH 2.1 back online.

After further“forensic” debugging, I determined that my wife had let an overly enthusiastictermite inspection guy into the attic. He moved boxes to check for termites …but didn’t restack them well … so they avalanched onto the antenna.

Great! … A 15-minute inspection causes me hours of debug …

Thanks for everyone’s help.

TV stations have been turning off the M/H feed across the country and almost no one has noticed since almost no one was watching it.

Just checked and all the Ion stations are gone here as well in Melbourne. Wonder what happened, as there's been no severe weather. We're they located near that big fire in Palm Bay by chance?

ETA: I just sent them a message on FB, so we'll see if I get a reply or an explanation on why it's down.

Just a quick update. I tried calling but got no answer and haven't received one via Twitter or Facebook. It seems that Kansas City is also affected by the outage, but everywhere else is fine. Very strange.

about Ion outage in Rockledge FL

Just found this on the ION web page.

VION Television is upgrading its technical equipment, affecting over-the-air viewers in certain markets. To make sure your ION Television service continues without disruption, please click on the appropriate link below.

The links under this note were for Atlanta and Kansas City.

Nothing for Central Florida? Hmmm....

I wonder if they just decided to pull out of our market. Weird that it would be just for those cities, especially since most of the noise about the channel missing on FB has been from those of us here in FL. I guess we'll have to wait a little longer and see what happens.

ETA: Thank you for posting the info!

ION in Atlanta and Kansas City are on channel 51 and are relocating so T-Mobile (who owns what used to be channel 52) can use the channel without causing or receiving interference.

If there's an outage in Orlando, it will not be related to those stations' moves.

Hello all!

I just built my HTPC with a Haupauge 2255 and an RCA ANT751R antenna. So far this works great, except for one thing. While WinTV8 gets channel 11 (WESH) just fine, the (obsolete) Windows Media Center claims the station "may be off air".

I reckon that the "lookup" in WMC is wrong. Anybody here who knows how to manually correct this?

Greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
