Presumably, ZGS leases the channel from them to increase the range of Telemundo, so they map it to 31-2 so it's associated with their main channel 31 mapping on their other signals.

I can't find a WESF.

WEFS is actual 30. PBS
WESH is actual 11. NBC

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.

Thanks....WESF is a fairly new callsign for 68.1. I forgot what the old CS was.

I think you have some letters transposed. Eastern Florida State.. EFS. Prior calls WBCC.

Don is right. When BCC switched to Eastern Florida State the call letters changed for the PBS station here as well. WDSC is 15.1 out of Daytona, 24.1 is UCF and 68.1 is WEFS.

As you get older three things happen. The first is your memory goes, and I can’t remember the other two. Crap I say <--- the unhacked version ;)

All,

Ihave a couple of HTDV Windows Media Center OTA receivers (Vista and Windows 7 Pro) that stopped being able to show WESH 2 (Orlando) a couple of days ago (signal strength is not good anymore - but it used to be 5/5).

Originally the WMC guide info updated to physical channel 24 (instead of 11) ... but I have manually changed that back to the 11. However WESH 2 has not returned.

Is anyone else experiencing this WMC WESH 2 "No service is available" problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I could check to determine the root cause of the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help?

Aussie

It seems that the ATSC M/H (Mobile DTV) channels that were available here have gone dark. Wonder if this is deliberate since all of the stations are dead.

OK ...found the problems ...

Short story …

I do think that Microsoft downloaded a new Guide moving Channel 2.1 to physicalchannel 24 (instead of 11). But ... after I corrected that (manually) ... thesignal strength was still low on WESH 2.1. Even though a "TV" was ableto receive WESH 2.1 well, off the same antenna.

The other problem was that my antenna was not pointed correctly at WESH 2transmitter.

Longer story …

After correcting the Guide problem … I rewired the system to take the VHF/UHF lineamplifier out of the system. No joy.

So I “hiked”into the attic to check the antenna. The reason I resisted checkingearlier is that the antenna is literally boxed in by a lot of cardboardboxes (in storage) so it is "protected." It hasn’t moved for 17 years. When I got up intothe attic … it looked like a tornado had hit. Normally I would see orderlystacks of boxes … what I saw was stacks of boxes in total disarray. Sure enough,I dug through the boxes to the antenna and found the VHF Yagi was almostpointed at the ground ... much to my dismay. Correcting its orientation broughtWESH 2.1 back online.

After further“forensic” debugging, I determined that my wife had let an overly enthusiastictermite inspection guy into the attic. He moved boxes to check for termites …but didn’t restack them well … so they avalanched onto the antenna.

Great! … A 15-minute inspection causes me hours of debug …

Thanks for everyone’s help.

Aussie

TV stations have been turning off the M/H feed across the country and almost no one has noticed since almost no one was watching it.
