So does this mean in two weeks that UPN will have to comply and fix the issue?

Good question. And how do we petition the FCC to not allow any further extensions? They should have never gotten this one in the first place. How many people on this forum have been complaining? They knew they had a problem and didn't care to fix it. Now the FCC is mandating that they fix it (with plenty of notice) and they go off and whine that they need an extension.

How many other stations around the country managed to fix their PSIP problems on time? Even the Weigel owned stations that were mapping to 1-1 have been fixed.

I get a feeling that the extension was for all stations in the country, not just WRBW UPN 65, but I can't say for sure...

I hope not. The FCC announced this stuff last August. That should have been plenty of time to fix any PSIP issues these stations may have had.

Agreed.. they heard numerous times about the problem and the program manager flat out told me that they had no interest in fixing the problem until required to do so by the FCC because it required the purchase of new equipment. Well guess what? Times up.. the FCC made the call! No extension should have been given, they had ample time and chose to sit on their asses instead of fixing the problem. They should be fined not given extensions.

If anyone has the FCC's contact info for these types of complaints please post it. I'd love to vent to them, especially if this isn't fixed in two weeks.

Yes! WRBW UPN 65 finally got their act together and fixed the mapping problem (well they got their act together only because they were made too). Thank you FCC or whoever is responsible. And they didn't even need the 2 week extension!

No more accidentally recording Magic games or having to have double Enterprise Season Passes. Did a complete clear and then rescan on both my HD Tivo and my Sony TV and it's showing up correctly on both systems. It's about time!

Well technically there is no problem with WMFE PBS 24. They have decided to stay on 23 after they shut off their analog signal on 24 and become WMFE PBS 23. According to Mike Simmons at WMFE, going forward they will not be using the channel # as part of their marketing, only their call sign.

So technically they don't have to remap to 24 since they are "staying" on 23 long term. The problem now lays in DirecTV's court to change the program guide data to show up in the 23 range instead of the 24 range. I emailed Mike Simmons about this issue asking if they are letting DirecTV know about it and working with them to correct it. Haven't heard anything back from him on this though. Oh well, not as big deal for me since I have no PBS season passes like I did on WRBW UPN 65.

Yes but once WMFE switches over to only HD will we have to watch the crap that is on WMFE? Right now there is awsome PBS-HD shows on the HD channel hen there is marketing crap on analog 24

Second question, HD Nightly news (local stations or, world news tonight, CBS evening news, ect..)...when?

Hum good question. WMFE does have some of the best HD programs around. Maybe they will use one of the multicast channels?

I sent an email to zap2it.com (which D* gets their programming info from) reporting the change in channel mapping for WMFE. Hopefully this will fix the problem with D*'s program guide.

Well after emailing FOX 51 Ocala a billion times i finally got a response.

"Hi Jim!

I wish I had a definite answer as to when WOGX will have HD. The
engineers are working on the logistics and the "bean counters" are
figuring the costs. WOGX is the only FOX O&O station that is not
broadcasting in HD so I'm confident that will change but WHEN is the
million dollar question. Right now we have no specific timetable but
when that information becomes available, we will let people know. I now
have your email address and will do my best to keep you informed. In the
meantime, feel free to email me and ask for any updates.

What the heck are bean counters, this isnt a ma and pop organization, this is a fox o&o station, cheapskates!

Thanks for emailing them as well. I never recieved that reply from them like you did, just what I posted from Mr Demshock. I was watching NYPD Blue last night and no break ins. Infact, they had more news spots during commercial breaks, same with Lost tonight. If John Demshock is reading this and he had something to do with it...

Thank You!

It's just an upconvert so who knows if it was a break in or just whatver their feed was. The ESPN squeeze trick isnt as annoying, but still bothersome. I wouldn't mind that for the breakins.

Wow.. I have to quote myself because I was only kidding when I wrote this, but as it turns out they did actually announce that Enterprise is being cancelled in May. Sweet irony.
Link to press release

btw... UPN will be officially deleted from my family's "Channels I recieve" Tivo guide after May. They can keep their "rap star in a comedy" or "rip off that reality show" crap sitcoms now while I make my Tivo guide faster.

I can't believe you jinxed it! And Enterprise was getting really good this season! And WRBW finally got their act together and fixed the channel mappings! Man things were going so good. Too good to be true. Can we say "Save Enterprise" writing campaign??? Hell send it to syndication or the Sci-Fi channel if you must!!!!

Yah, my Win-TV D card won't tune to it either and to tune it I have to go into the Phillips VSB I2C application and manually enter the audio and video ID's before the signal will show up.
