Memorable Entertainment Television (MeTV) is coming to KCSG starting Monday, September 5, 2011.

http://www.kcsg.com/view/full_story/...-September-5th

My only hope with this welcomed addition to my over-the-air programming is that this will be a full-time broadcast of MeTV. KCSG right now only airs a handful of RTV programming with infomercials almost every other hour.

I hope that the partnership with KSL Live News tanks. Rebroadcasting KSL Live 5 News at 6:00 pm at 7:00 pm on KCSG and KSL Live 5 News at 6:30 pm at 9:00 pm on KCSG does not make sense. It takes our programming off air and pairing those rebroadcasts with infomercials is bad. Live news is not live when it is rebroadcasted and the clock in the bottom right of the screen is never correct. Rebroadcasting 16x9 1080i broadcasts at 4x3 360p does not make sense to me.

I hope MeTV does better than RTV ever did on KCSG.

Does anybody know where to get a list of clear QAM channels for comcast? They changed the lineup recently and added a few new channels (MhZ, FBN) but now I can't find KUPX-ION (in HD). It used to be 41.92 but now that's KUEN...

Out of interest, is KUPX-ION available OTA?

Just wanted to thank the above posters to finding the new KUPX-DT channel. I have been trying to find it since it changed, and I couldn't figure it out via SiliconDust with my zipcode in Provo.

I know what you mean. The easiest thing to do is select the grid view. It's more readable that way.

Solved it myself. Media Center is using channel 51 for this station, when it should be 40. So, I just added a new 4.1 digital channel that works on channel 40. I got the guide information from the old 4.1 guide and wallah!!! works.

Interesting -- Mine hasn't changed, although I don't have channel 13.1. 13.2 is fine.

CW30.1 and30.2 are broadcasting in Cache County, and KBYU 11.1-11.3 is up, also. Translators went online a few weeks ago. BUT, the translators are not on Mt. Pisgah, they are on Clarkston Ridge, where Franklin County's "STL" translators are located. The county is applying to have both 30 and 11 moved to Pisgah, I figure they're stuck on Clarkston Ridge for at least a year.

Also, while working on an installation high on the bench in Smithfield, I "peeped" channels 20 and 24 from the south. I've seen 20 before, but not 24, from my Nibley home. Also, I got ionTV (weak, but decoded) pointing west. May be from the translators in Malad. It's the only time I've ever seen it in the valley.

I have an odd problem with Channel 4. I am watching it OTA from my home on the east bench. I have a straight shot from my roof top to the Oquirrhs.

During the last year, I will be watching 4 and the image will freeze and then the screen goes black. Applies to 4-2 and 4-30 as well. My LG downstairs will flash the NO SIGNAL message on the screen. This outage isn't limited to just one TV, it is all 3 of them simataneously. All of my other channels come in cyrstal clear while this is happening; 2,5,7,9,13 with all their sub-channels. The picture returns to 4 usualy after about 10-15 minutes.

Since it is happening to just one channel and it affects all 3 TV's at the same time, I am having a hard time trouble-shooting this.

Several possibilities -- Could be a bad connector, a kinked cable, or a nicked cable to begin the list. Since it happens on all of your TV sets, it is something prior to, or including, the first splitter.

It's not just you. Happened three times to me last night between 21:00-22:00 on both 4.1 and 4.2. Looks to me to be on the transmitting and not the receiving end.

KTVX's transmitter is having problems, and is running on low power right now.
I saw it die for several minutes last night..not sure if it just power-cycled all the way off and had to come back up (which can take a few minutes), or if they were making a quick repair.

Thanks guys! As it was happening to all three of my sets simaltaneously and no other channels were affected, it seemed a stretch that it was something to do with my gear.

KTVX's transmitter is "crow-bar"-ing...that's where the transmitter thinks there's a fatal fault (like an arc-over, or shorted tube) and immediately shuts down the high voltage....like throwing a crowbar across a circuit, to kill it.
It's only happening when it's running at/near full power.

They are working on it.

I would say they have been working on it for a while, then. This has been a recurring problem for about a year. It comes and goes, but I have missed "crucial" scenes in TV shows where one moment the picture is fine and then the next, NOTHING. Another version of the failure is where the picture pixelates for a few seconds, freezes, and then ultimately goes to black. I appreciate that this is expensive, sophisticated equipment, but it seems that they have had more trouble than you would expect. I haven't had this issue with any of the other channels, ever.

I appreciate your input, as always.

Wonder if KTVX (KUCW as well)is rethinking their decision not to partner up with the rest of us and share transmitter facilities.

I know they've had a lot more problems than the rest of us have had.

They are a part of DTV Utah, but I don't think they have redundancy in their transmitters. I believe everybody else has a dual transmitter, which can operate with either/both amplifier "cabinets".

KSL had similar problems with our original transmitter. The screen supply just didn't like working at 9500' ASL. So, KSL is actually on our second DTV transmitter in 12 years.

KTVX should look in to getting one of the MediaFLO units. I think there are three or four in the SLC area.

....DTV Utah members are KUTV(2), KTVX(4), KSL(5), KUED(7), KUEN(9), KBYU(11), KJZZ(14), and KUCW(30)....KSTU(13), KTMW(20) and KUPX(16) are next door.... KUTH(32) is at Lake Mountain..... KPNZ(24) is in the KSL building, as is Telemundo (50, operating on 14 and 10)....KUCL(26) is on the East Bench, and 19 is on Ensign.

I thought KTVX was in their own building a couple peaks to the south?
Did this change recently? or am I thinking of someone else?

KTVX is in the DTV Utah consortium.

I always heard that their Mt. Nelson site was restricted to only having the one analog TV station up there (some kind of zoning or lease restriction), so I assumed they would tear it down after 2009, but it looks like a whole lot of other stuff is up there, permanently.
I kinda wonder if KTVX still has ENG receivers up there?

KULX-LD on VHF Channel 10 has permanently turned off their Farnsworth Peak transmitter.
They are now operating on UHF Channel 14 only, as of Thursday afternoon.
KULX-LD is owned by Airwaves, and is licensed to Ogden.

KEJT-LP, Salt Lake City, analog channel 50 owned by NBC Telemundo is still operating on 50, although it has had a CP to go Digital on UHF channel 31 since 2006.

CPs are only good for three years, although I think the FCC was allowing two six-month extensions for digital conversions. Nevertheless, the KEJT-LD companion channel 31 CP was dismissed by the FCC in April 2010. At this time, KEJT-LP has not revealed any plans for digital conversion.

That was confusing....
I see that it was renewed in March, 2007, and expired in 36 months.
I guess they will just stay analog until the end. I wonder why they even bother.

Looks like 43 in Provo has a valid CP for Digital on 16.

And, I noticed that analog 23 is weak again. I wonder if they have antenna problems that are blowing out amplifier modules?

Actually, the digital companion channel was applied for in November 2006, but wasn't granted until March 2007. KEJT applied for an extension in March 2010, on the day the CP was to expire, but the extension request was dismissed about a month later. There's no indication of whether the FCC rejected the extension request, or if KEJT's owners told the FCC never mind. I'm guessing the latter.

Hey KTVX,

I'm tired of the compression noise. I feel like I'm watching poorly encoded YouTube from two years ago. Give me back some bits on 4-1.

Thanks.

Good Morning America 7-9 am kept cutting out this morning on Directv. There was some rain but not heavy. Other channels seemed to be working fine.

Anyone else have the same problems?

Thanks

It appears that there is a problem with Channel 4. However they don't put anything out on their web page, just leave you hanging in the wind!!

Both OTA and Directv impacted.

KJZZ has microwave problems at the mountain, so you may see some interruptions od service. They are working on it, awaiting parts and re-setting the receiver as necessary.

Also, noticed that KPDR (19) has been down for a few days. Transmitter problem, or just lack of power (???)...don't know. They are on Ensign Peak.
