I have no idea what the time frame for this move is.
Neither does anyone else at this time, it's too early.

Given that the Nashville station was assigned phase 6 and WAFF was assigned phase 8, it would be fair to guess that the first station will probably move a bit after the halfway mark in the rolling transition and that WAFF will follow that some months later.

Disappointed to see WHDF move off the UHF band; I know I won’t be hanging a VHF antenna just to watch one station.

Apparently WHNT has been off air for a couple days now.

Edit: apparently it returned to air on low power this morning:

Did they say why they went off the air? The older story just redirects to the updated story.

Supposedly it was due to the storm last week.

Yeah, I am seeing an intermittent 5.0 dB tickle on 19. The only night a week I watch CBS, of course.

WAAY 31.2 appears to be ION Television now. Unless you're the type of person that enjoys hours of Law and Order or related shows, it won't be of much interest to you. I wish they would pull QVC from 31.3 and put something more interesting there, like LAFF or BUZZR.

I've read that VHF-Low (Channels 2 through 6) is more susceptible to noise on digital than it was on analog. Dirty power lines and appliances with motors (vacuums, blenders, etc.) can cause a break-up in signal.

I live within close range, so a pair of rabbit ears should work for me. I am wondering, though, if the noise factor will be a big issue. There hasn't been a station broadcasting on channel 2 in this area since WKRN went to UHF in 2009 with the analog shut-off. You know their engineers studied up on everything before going to UHF permanently.

I wish they would have kept Weather Nation.

Apparently they have finished the transmitter work at WHNT; I am seeing normal signal strength.

WHDF Migration to VHF

Does anyone know if WHDF will be changing frequencies sooner than the deadline? I had heard some time back that stations were being offered incentives to change frequencies ahead of time to start rolling out 5G earlier in some areas.

It's primarily stations in the channels 38-51 range that don't have conflicts on their future channels being asked to move early, where feasible. I've heard nothing about WHDF, and would be surprised if it turned out to be one of them.
