Ok, here's a little more in-depth info on Fox-54.
The problem is with a piece of their equipment (not provided by Fox) that sets the PIDs for video and audio (which I believe is their statmuxer). Once the PIDs are set, the signal goes to the Fox splicer equipment. The Fox equipment doesn't like the PID assignment and/or does something to it, so when the signal comes out of it, the PID for the video is changed, hence no video.
The manufacturer of the equipment is going to do a firmware update on it to remedy the problem, but Fox54 is also having them add another channel to it so they can do dynamic PSIP, which is mandatory by the FCC.
Fox-54 is basically waiting on the manufacturer to come to their site and do the necessary upgrades, the ball's not in their court anymore. It's just a waiting game right now.
They are extremely optimistic that all issues will be resolved in time for the Superbowl (and Nascar starts 2 weeks after that to boot).
So, target date is the Superbowl and if we happen to get any playoff games in HD, that's a bonus.
BTW, we (WHDF) FINALLY made it on DirecTv a couple days ago (SD of course).
