I have the basic comcast cable, from my internet package, going into a Boxeebox live tv dongle. Yesterday the FOX HD channel went black. This happen to anyone else? FOX SD is still coming in fine.

Prior to analog death, WSVN broadcast on RF 8, which is why when their PSIP went out back then WSVN-DT displayed 8-1 (or 8-3 on newer Samsung TVs). There was no PSIP info to tell your set you were watching "Channel 7". Now, after the analog death, WSVN's RF is the same as their branded channel, so the main channel number is still 7.

Aforesaid are just a few examples documenting an ongoing pattern for years with WSVN on this forum and others. Additionally:

On or about 8:00 PM Feb 27, 2009 WSVN also ran a "false" alert of a Hurricane with over 100 mph winds and a storm surge of 6-8 feet. I have the documentation to prove it. There was no such hurricane and it was NOT Hurricane season. http://www.avsforum.com/t/43823/miami-ft-lauderdale-fl-hdtv/6240#post_16242029

The actual weather on aforesaid date was Max Temperature 79 °F Precipitation 0.00 in. http://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/KMIA/2009/2/27/DailyHistory.html?req_city=Miami&req_state=FL&req_statename=Florida

Here is an excerpt from member rodmanbra documented Post #3 http://www.avsforum.com/t/41338/no-sound-from-wsvn-dt-miami-on-zenith
"I certainly hope you do not call WSVN since...here is the possible future phone call...."

d "Hi, can you please trasfer me to engineering"

WSVN chief engineer "If you plan on complaining..., take a number!"

d "why so rude. Btw, i am a fellow broadcaster friend"

WSVN chief engineer "We never tested with... We use ... for quality control. Why not just use this?"

WSVN chief engineer "I have a perfect solution for you. Use...Thanks for calling. We are "just one station".

WSVN's ignorance is inexcusable, and irresponsible. Well, WSVN we are not talking about supposition as evidenced by the numerous complaints. WSVN can't solve problems if they don't acknowledge their existence. Lesson 2: Today they completely failed to address the problem on their end. Instead of addressing viewers concern WSVN point their finger at the viewing public using ota....I'm surprised they don't have a banner titled Mission Accomplished displayed at their station.

The evidence speaks for itself. WSVN has failed to address not only the problems with their signal but more importantly how certain members of the public are treated. The evidence doesn't lie. It is blatantly evident what WSVN thinks of The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and certain members of the public.

Atlantic Broadband or U-Verse?

Moving to a building in Miami Beach and I have the choice of Atlantic Broadband or AT&T U-Verse. Any advice as to which is better?

Thanks.

Good day
I have AM21 OTA Receivers with my Directv Receivers.
Does anyone with this setup living in Palm Beach County have trouble with the audio "stuttering" on WSVN 7-1 in Miami?
Signal strength is excellent, antennas and amplifiers are top rated, all cabling is quad shield rg6u.
Thanks for any replies!

Yes. It starts happening after about 20-25 minutes. Eventually the audio goes out all together. Same thing happens on 6-1. I've been told it probably has something to do with the software inter-action between the receiver and the AM-21. I even tried another AM-21 with the same result. It doesn't happen on 29-1 or 5-1, so in most cases can watch those instead as a lot of programming is the same. Bottom line is there doesn't seem to be a fix for it, so either live with it or go without the AM-21 and hope your tv has a digital tuner that pulls the channels in.

My apologies if this has been answered before, but I searched the thread and cannot find anything.

I'm the in Pennsylvania area of Atlantic Broadband and I know that they have ABB as well down in Miami-Beach.

My question is, since my area is beginning to do ADS (Analog to Digital Simulcasting) and converted some random analog stations to digital, how is everything set up in Miami-Beach?

Does Limited Basic and Value/Expanded Basic need a DTA (Digital to Analog) adapter at all or can you get these channels in Clear/Unencrypted QAM?

I'm trying to get a feel for ABB's "history" to try and find out the likelihood if my area is going to force Value customers to have adapters or if they have digital TVs they can just go on watching like they always did, with of course the QAM moving every now and then.

They already reported in my area the analog is not going away for a while.

I was informed a couple of weeks ago that Comcast is taking over the areas served by Atlantic Broadband in South Florida. If this is true, then you will need a DTA since Comcast no longer airs any QAM channels "in the clear" in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale metro area.

Do you have any news story to confirm this? All reports show that Atlantic Broadand has launched TiVo in South Florida in the last month or so.

Don't know if this is the right place for this.......

Hi, I am pretty knowledgeable about alot of things on the house, but electronics is a mystery to me. And I don't have a dad or brother to ask these things of. Please help me figure out which antenna I need.

I live in Boca Raton, FL zip 33487. My house is single story. I want to put a whole house antenna in the attic. Currently, I have an amplified splitter (plugged into electric with cable TV line) with 7 dedicated lines going to each room.

When I look up the address on those sites, it says I have a strong signal from both West Palm Beach and Miami. It says I am 30 miles from towers in West Palm and 50 from Miami. It says West Palm is 20 degrees and Miami is 300 degrees. From that info, that I have signals due north and due south, I believe I need a multidirectional antenna........correct?

Now, which one...........? I read about them on Amazon etc. but unfortunately, I don't understand the technical jargon that people who know about these things use. I chatted with a rep at one of the big online sellers of amplifiers and he suggested a DB8e antenna, a VHF antenna retro fit kit and a 9 way HD drop bidirectional amp CDA8 for $285.

I have a Roku and have been living with that since Comcast cut me off after they figured out they left basic cable on my TV's when I cut the cord. But I want to get this done. I have started and stopped many times because I'm afraid of buying the wrong thing. I don't mind spending the money. I want to do it once and do it right. I don't have 7 TV's right now, but I want the house to be set up for more if I buy them. Several are still analog right now and I use Roku with those.

Thank you for any help...........Nina in Florida

Hi everyone hope i am posting in the right thread

I put up a external antenna and have a 8 input ATSC tuner

The device only asks for Frequency MHz so i been looking around for weeks to find the correct Frequency MHz to enter and search finally today i found some. Example:

521 MHZ I get WFOR-TV CBS HD
581 MHz I get WBFS-TV Fox HD
551 MHZ I get a bundle of chanels like WXEL HD, Create - V-ME - PBS World

Starting from 485MHz to 695MHz in intervals of 6MHz i get quite a lot of channels like 40 in total, i cant lock onto some like 545 , 611 , 623 , 635, 641 , 647, 653 , 683 , 695 , Thinking if this is the most i'm gonna get or if i am missing some Frequencies or even bad antenna install

Problem is i cant find the like of ABC, NBC, CW so could anyone help?

Thank in advance

ps i am in Miami, FL FL 33132
