Please excuse my extended absence from this forum. There has been a lot to keep us busy. As you know we are very close to mounting our DTV antenna. The conditions were not right for the antenna stub mounting today; we hope to hoist the stub tomorrow morning. The tower crew is one of the best I have had the experience to work with. They are competent, safe and are ahead of schedule. Most of the tower reinforcement has been completed. Still the difficult work is ahead of us. This is what we can project for the next few days.
Tuesday Morning: Antenna stub mounting sometime before 10:00 AM.
Tuesday Afternoon: Antenna hoist sometime before 4:00 P.M.
The ÒSTUBÓ is nearly 8 feet tall and weighs 3 tons.
The antenna is nearly 50 feet long and weighs in excess of 14,000 Lbs.
The bolts that hold the antenna to the stub each weigh about 10 pounds!
LetÕs not go into the size of the wrench.
Once the antenna is mounted, it will take a few days to measure the remaining transmission line pieces and elbows. Every line piece is custom made from a factory in Raymond, Maine. It will take at least week for the sections to be manufactured and several days to ship. Installation of the line sections will follow soon after.
