re_nelson,

Here in Albuquerque, we only get E--skip propications as for tropo ducting which is very rare. So that's mean only on VHF low band ch. 2 to ch. 6 "54 to 88 MHz" Let's hope it's good start for the this year season!smile.gif

Thanks for the very interesting article. I lived in Albuquerque most of the 70's and 80's and was just up there last week. I can not believe how many FM stations there are. The most interesting is "Kool 94.5" which is really just a low power translator of the AM station at 1550. I was curious as to how well it could be received at only 250 watts. It actually does very well, in the car and my hotel room I would have never suspected that it was less powerful than the other FMs at 20,000 watts. It did not start to fade on the way home to El Paso until almost Socorro.
Here is the real joke though. Just before it started to fade out they ran a promotional ad referring to themselves as "the 250,000 microwatt powerhouse". Of course 1000 microwatts equals one watt. I am sure that anyone except the technically minded are impressed.

Oops there other analog low power station came on the air is KQDF-LP, on channel 25 today! It's looks like Chief Engineering is playing around.smile.gif

Btw, their TX is located on the west side of Rio Grande river on Coors road near I-25. The picture is pretty poor and running at 31.1 KW ERP. It will be matter of time when they flash cut to digital at 15 KW on Sandia Crest mountain.

KQDF-LP is a Spanish station at this time.

So stay tune!!biggrin.gif

Very strange to see KQDF-LP, analog's signal go off the air then turn on the digital signal, but the weard thing I punch in 25.1 but remapped to rf ch 39 which is KRTN-LD.

After playing around I try tune in by puncing 33.2 and came up Jewl-TV shopping channel.

I am wondering is a PISP issue by STL link?

Are you sure? KQDF has no digital permit.

If it's pointed at RF39, it's probably a PSIP problem, since Telemundo in the market technically originates from KTEL 25-1 in Carlsbad.

I think I must have misunderstood your original post. Particularly, this part:

I took that to mean you were seeing a digital signal in place of the analog.

Any chance that KRTN will ever be able to be picked up in Los Alamos? I can get a lot of the ABQ stations here but not that one.

Micarson,

KRTN has filed to FCC for upgrading their TX power to 15 KW ERP. FCC has granted TX power upgrade that's means KRTN's signal will spill over Los Alamos so this a good news.

I remembered KYMQ-LD ch. 43 had a test with 15 KW ERP a TV viewer in Los Alamos was able to get the low power signal.smile.gif

It's just what kind of antenna that you have to get that signal.

Hi all, hoping some folks could give me some thoughts on a reception issue I'm having.  I live out in Cedar Crest, down by the highway, so I'm in a challenging area of OTA reception.  I've got an Antennas Direct DBe4 (65 mile rated UHF bowtie) on the roof with a preamp (due to a long cable run to the TV), and I manage to pull in the following:

- KOB-DT ch. 4.1, 4.2 (I can get this solid as a rock, even without the preamp)
- KYNM-LD ch. 30.1, 30.2, 30.3, 30.4, 30,5, 30.6

- KLUZ-DT ch. 41.1, 41,2, 41,3 41,4 (intermittent, very sensitive to antenna pointing)
- KTEL-HD ch. 47.1 (intermittent, very sensitive to antenna pointing)
- KASY-DT ch. 50.1 (not as strong as KOB, but still pretty solid with the preamp)

Based on the transmitter information I've been able to find online (TVFool among others), it seems that if I can get KOB, I should be able to get KASA, KNME, and KWBQ (they all have seem to be proximate in location, power, and frequency), but I get essentially no signal for any of those stations (measured using a Toshiba with a detailed signal meter function).  I've tried some obvious things like adjusting antenna azimuth and elevation and raising the antenna (another 5ft is all that was practical without constructing a temporary mast).

Is there a reason for this that y'all can think of?  Some difference between the KOB and the other stations that I might be able to use as the basis for adjusting something (or justification for giving up <g>)?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

If you go to Get-TV's web site, there are no NM cities listed under "Get the Channel," however KTFQ is still on the Wiki page. The schedule says they'll start programming Monday at 2 p.m., so I guess we'll see what happens then.

I rescanned last week to see if there was a channel 14.2 before visiting the Get web site and learning that NM isn't listed yet. During that process I lost KNMD, which I can just barely pick up on the best of days. I rescanned again tonight and got KNMD back, but the channels display as 8.3 and 8.4, which are the actual channel numbers. My tuner also locked onto an 8.145 and 8.161 which aren't showing anything. Does anyone think my tuner just didn't read the PSIP correctly since the signal is so week or are they trying to add something? I repeated the scan and got the same results.

I wish KNMD could increase their transmitter power just a little more. If I stand in the right place in my living room, the station comes in just fine smile.gif
