Latest news on local Albuquerque's TV broadcast market!

KQDT-LP has been sold to DTV America, KQDF-LP is on analog ch. 25 just west of Coors Rd. just near by I-40 freeway. it's looks like there's a good chances the will go digital at sometime in the future it's should be interesting to see what happen next.

Given DTV America's history of acquiring stations, I would expect them to convert the station to digital, keep Azteca America programming on channel 25.1, and at the very minimum, add Dr TV on channel 25.2, as they have that diginet on all of their stations. Other diginets may also be added.

DTV America will now have two stations in Albuquerque, K38IM and KQDT. Hope they have some good programing. I've never been able to get KQDT, or any of the other stations that were at the West Mesa site. Hope they move KQDT to the Crest.

I was wondering, Any chances of getting Comet TV to Albuquerque's TV market anytime soon? Since they have tons of Stargate TV shows and other good Sci Fi shows?

Other thing I am little disappointed on lack of OTA game coverage's of Lobos men Basketball?

It looks like KASA is adding ION channel as their 2-3. Was just changing channels and found a blank screen with the new label for ION.

Ion is on the air this evening. No sign of Grit, Escape and Laff on 19 and 50 yet. It appears that Media General is breaking its subchannel moratorium in a big way. I wonder if they'll add something to KRQE also.

Well, it should be interesting to see bunch of new sub channels coming our way and 2 analog low power stations that got sold to DTamerica "K38IM and KQDF-LP"!

No news on KTFA-LP on going to digital on ch. 48 at this time.

Just want to let you know guys that KYNM-CD rf ch. 21.6 has just added Antenna TV! The Antenna TV network may be moving out of KCHF-DT rf ch. 10.4 and KNMQ-LD rf ch. 43.1 and I am hoping they make room for a new sci fi channel called Comet TV.

As for rest of the news is pretty slow at this time.

Latest news,

Nexstar is taking over KRQE-DT and KASA-DT so that's means Media General is going out soon. I have no idea what will happen with 2 other stations KWBQ-DT and KASY-DT whane Nexstar is known to hate sub channels so we may lose Grit TV, Laff and Escape program line ups.

Anyhoo..... the rest other local TV broadcating news here in Albuquerque's market is pretty quiet for the time being.

It appears Nexstar will have one more subchannel to deal with. GetTV has moved over to KRQE channel 13.2. Where it was on KUPT 16.2 is now something labeled "ALB CH" that seems to be showing only infomercials.

I wonder Alb, ch. on KUPT-CD will be used for local high school sport coverages and some other local programing's?

Now the other question is how Nexstar will treat local news on KRQE-DT do they plan on upgrading news setup or not?

Any information on why the Lobos men basketball games not being shown on free OTA channels for people don't want go to pay satellite and cable services?

The contracts that the MWC has over it's TV rights make it very hard.
CBS Sports has first rights, with ESPN and Root Sports secondary rights...most of the rest are used to offer content for MtnWestTV/Campus Insiders.
One of the ABQ stations could purchase the rights to air locally the telecast ESPN only airs online via ESPN3, but none of the big 3 station owners in town are the type to pay. It doesn't help that New Mexico doesn't have its own RSN to piggyback with.

The FCC may require Media General to sell off either KRQE or KASA in order to complete the merger with Nexstar. Look about half way down this article:

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/92394/nexstar-wants-to-keep-media-general-jsas

I guess this is one of the few times a station owner is actually hoping for bad ratings!

I wonder why KNMD-DT, is not going to 16:9 aspect ratio on PBS Create since I know 123W' feed carry this way, why KNMD-DT is stuck in 4:3 aspect ratio?

I guess they overlook or something?

Not much else going on in Albuquerque's TV market news.
