It's six months away from football season and knowing how quickly this stuff gets acknowledged and fixed, I'm starting to worry it will still be a issue come this fall. My sister near Double Diamond area gets cable and I'll have to get her to confirm. I'll report back.

I called KTVN a second time and the person I spoke with said that this was the first time they had heard of the missing right audio channel issue. Marvelous. This time the message will be forwarded to one of the engineers. Between the ongoing KRNV audio issue and now the KTVN audio issue, it would seem our locals are not proficient in audio management.

Any word from your sister?

My sister can't quite tell if the right channel is out or not. I'll have to drive by there this weekend. I'll call KTVN also and if they give me the, 'first time to hear of this' line then we will know KTVN is just incompetent.

As of Friday, I think the right-front speaker is working again. Can you please check?

Thanks

As of Saturday afternoon (4/25) it seems KTVN has fixed the right channel. I've checked it on Charter cable, DirecTV and OTA. Good work Purk. I guess they do listen to us peons every once in awhile.

Waited a couple of days in order to see if the fix would hold, seems it has. Thanks for your help.

Something weird is going on with the KRNV channel 4 news. All of the studio shots look hazy, particularly closeup shots of Joe Hart and Shelby Sheehan. It is as if you are looking through a fog bank in the studio. It also happens when they go to Madison Corney for the weather, but it's just her, not the background computer graphics, they are nice and sharp. Live shots look okay. Don't notice this with other newscasts. Anyone else seeing this happen?

KNRC/Better Life TV

Anyone else getting ch 14 KNRC on ch 30 listed as KBLN?

I know they added two new subchannels and are pretty much a repeater of KBLN out of Grants Pass, OR but it looks like something weird happened with the Virtual PSIP when they added the subchannels.

Bummer none of this will be anything I'll watch, but curious if others are seeing the same thing.

edit: It's been fixed.

KRNV Audio Issue

For at least the past 3 weeks KRNV channel 4 News has had audio issues. When the audio is from the studio the audio is centered. When they throw to a package or go live, the audio is either discrete left or right, sometimes with the background audio of the piece occupying only the opposite channel. Nothing from center. Center audio only returns when they are back in the studio.

I called them 3 weeks ago and was told that they had an audio issue, but that audio issue had been fixed. The person I talked to said they would let someone know that the audio still had a problem. Now 3 weeks later, the audio is still messed up.

Has anyone else called KRNV about their audio and if so, what were you told?

Thanks.

KRNV Audio Issue (Fixed)

As of this weekend KRNV channel 4 news appears to have fixed the audio issue. Hopefully they will eventually replace the camera used for weather, as that one has multiple stuck white pixels.

Now if only the KTVN channel 2 news would stop pretending that HD doesn't exist and do something with that mostly useless ID bug. And, stop claiming 'balanced reporting' that I 'can count on' when often enough the opposite is true. Mr Alger, your forecast is not "next" if something else will be shown "first".

Anyone in the Reno Sparks area to recommend an antenna ?

Hi, new to the effort of cutting the cord.

We've been a long time Charter cable customer. Many yrs of paying over $140/mth just to get special HBO channels.
We just got 3 Roku's and are now enjoying Netflix and Amazon TV. This has been the catalyst to cut cable altogether.
We may keep Charter internet though. Haven't decided yet

We're located at 3613 Koskela Dr in Sparks. North of McCarran Blvd and east of Pyramid Hwy.
From the roof I have a line of sight to Peavine and Mt Rose.

Looking to pull in the local channels 2, 4 and 8. And any OTA channels that are out there.

Any recommendations on a digital antenna? Directional or omni-directional?

I have the ability to mount it outdoors, to our chimney stack, for best reception.

Any guidance and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Tony

I don't think it's necessary to spend a lot on a OTA. Depending on where you are and line of sight you have to either/both Peavine Peak and Slide Mt (Mt Rose Ski resort). I have one for backup in case my Directv system goes down and my TV scanned about 20 channels (only about 7 would I use...NBC,CBS, etc). My experience is omni directional antennas don't have the range a directional antenna has. Good luck
