I quess the countdown to my-ytv is on. Why hasn't WYTV placed perempted ABC programming on the sub-channel so they could work out the bugs and fine tune the signal. They have been doing alot of preempting for local programs and browns games, so why not put it there. This Wedensday, Thursday, and Friday WYTV analog 33 will be running Desire and Fashion House at 12 PM and 4 PM to fill holes until Dr. Kieth Albow and the Greg Bernhardt show begins. This according to zap 2it, yahoo tv, titan tv, and tv guide.

Well, today IS My YTV's start. I assume it's up on 33.2 now? I hear folks who say it's on cable as of about 8:30 or so this morning.

My-YTV started on armstrong cable here in Mahoning county at around 8:20 AM. Armstrong dropped WUAB during a paid program screen went black and they joined daybreak 33 rebroadcast in progress. This is how WBCB signed on with Armstrong as well execpt the only difference is that WBCB replaced WBNX and instead of a paid program it was a rerun of Home Improvement.
From the on-air promos here is what I assume is the new schedule:

My Morning News:

6:30 AM First Business
7:00-9:00 AM Rebroadcast daybreak 33

My Classic comedies:

9:00 AM I love Lucy
9:30 AM Beverly Hillbillies
10:00 AM Andy Griffith
10:30 AM My 3 Sons
11:00 AM Happy Days
11:30 AM Laverne & Shirley

My Home Ideas:

Noon Your New House Daily
1:00 PM Martha

2:00-3:00 PM Greg Behrendt (starts September 12 th)
2 PM Make an Appointment with Dr. Keith Ablow (tuesday)
2:30 PM Getting into Grey's Anatomy (tuesday)
3:00-5:00 PM For the People

5:00 PM Jeopardy! (repeats from last season)
5:30 PM Americas Funniest Home Videos (ones with Bob Saget)
6:00 PM Mad About You
6:30 PM The Nanny
7:00 PM 33 news 6 PM (rebroadcast)
7:30 PM According to Jim (starts September 18 th)
Americas Funniest Home Videos (ones with Bob Saget)
until September 18 th

My Network TV

1:00 AM-2:00 AM TBA
2:00 AM 33 news at 10 on My-YTV(rebroadcast)
2:30 AM My sports talk on My-YTV(rebroadcast)
3:00 AM-6:30 AM Paid programming

PDF schedule:

http://images.bimedia.net/documents/...y+schedule.pdf

I have everything here but a tower crew... rigging, equipment, the antenna and parts, and 2 guys with 2 dogs. The dogs don't climb. End of the month, no firm date yet.

What are the dogs for?

You can count om me to give you a reception report from SE Parma. Right now I get your analog signal 24/7, sometimes better than others. WOIO analog usually interferes even though I'm aimed almost 90 degrees off from their tower (it's only 1 mile or so from here). Your digital signal is iffy, usually not strong enough to lock to right on the threshhold of locking.

What do dogs do for a tower crew?

Seriously, I'm looking forward to the end of the month, and if I have a shot of getting WFMJ-DT along with WKBN-DT...

I don't know for sure on why some have tower dogs but I do now one of the crews that paint radio/TV towers and change tower lights have no dogs on the sites they work on. I would assume they think if they fall and the harness breaks the dogs will go get help.

Actually, they have them because they like dogs and they're pets.

I watched all day yesterday (videotaped/tivoed it) and I have to admit how are they making money? ALL of the programs have commericals breaks that are nothing more than PSA's for God's sake!!! The morning classic TV block are all shows from CBS Paramont and were purshased on a cash basis :
http://www.paramounttv.com/syndicationbible.htm .

The weekend programs looks like they are from America one : http://www.americaone.com/ .

So really I don't get it. The programs are done in blocks like my morning news, my classic TV, and my home ideas. But from a local programming point it was one hell of a fun train wreck to watch. Errors evey 5 seconds and noone seemed to care. I understand how hard it is to produce a TV program but since they have produce local programs for years it should of been better. Maybe the crew thought it was just on WSOM-AM and not on TV.

I thought it was strange when Beturm De Suza was talking on for the people and mentioning how WFMJ had right to first refusal on yesterdays debate and making it known where the debate was held and why it was held there. Then on my sports talk the first caller asked if they were going to tape local high school sports events and made mention to the fact that one other station was already doing that (refeering to WYFX). Bob Hannon said that they were unable to do this in the past beacause ABC was not happy when they would preempt yet they preempt left and right. BTW I thought that broke broadcasting rule one: don't promote the competition.

As for the primetime, well after seeing a promo for fox faith during fashion house it shows you where this network is going. BTW the end credits for MyTV list the shows being from My Network TV and not 20th television/fox and the promotional considerations are most of the end credits. Hell it is a great start with lots of potiental but maybe if they add reruns of home improvement, cheers, mash, roseanee, and married with children it could get better. Is there any way a Youngstown station could add these classic shows even if it is just on the weekends?

I've seen literally hundreds of radio and TV towers over the years, and I've never seen a tower dog. Of course, I've never seen crews working on the towers, either... just looking up gets me dizzy!

Then you would not like living in my neighborhood

I witnessed the erection of WJW's new tower several years ago - in passing. I did not notice any dogs, but then again I was not looking for them.

The latest neighborhood project will be the new digital antenna for WBNX. That tower is not visable from the road, as it's in a heavily wooded area off the Camp Corde' property. I can see from the top of the tower to about 2/3rd's of the way down. BTW: That tower is the home to nearly every LPTV antenna in the area, so there is a lot of hardware along the sides.

Would you be able to scope out WBNX-DT's antenna with that vantage point?

And I love looking at towers and the like, but I just don't like staring up at them for more than a few seconds. Or staring down from them...

Isn't the WBNX tower on the same property as WKYC/WTAM or is it on the WQHS property in Parma? It is a shame WBNX and WQHS couldn't switch channels since WQHS has a digital signal up and running.

I have to say that I'm really looking forward to WFMJ's power boost, and hopefully everything comes together soon. A lot of times, I can get the analog signal perfectly in Akron. However, I've never received their digital signal at my new place as of yet. The signal is not strong enough to make it above the threshold, no matter where I've placed the antenna.

No offense to the fine folks at WKYC, but I also wouldn't mind an NBC signal I can actually receive OTA!

Actually, I thought the TWC "hub" was in North Canton, though they obviously need receive equipment somewhere in the Youngstown market to get you guys.
