Brownie -

I was in your same position in south Fort Myers.

In order to get a stronger signal, I had to put a cheap signal booster on my line. I got it from radio shack ($50 maybe?) It made a noticable difference in the signal strength according to the meter.

Hope this helps.

If you get the digital plus and reject their box, it is free. If you get digial plus and want the box and the CableCARD I belive it is $1.50/mo., however, they won't give it to you at the local office, they will insist on a truck roll and charge you $9.95 for the experience of having to teach one of their technicians how to install a CableCARD. Funny how Comcast trusts the people in Seattle to install their own CableCARDs but our local Comcast demands a roll.

Wess,

When I read your post, I'm hearing Darth Vader's Imperial March song in my head. The Evil Empire marches on!

It is funny that Dominoes has a delivery fee of $1 and Comcast's deliver fee is almost $10, yet the pizza guy has had the same amount of training on cable cards as the Comcast guy.

I'm still jealous of your S3 though.

Peace,

DM

...and, when Dominos comes, they solve a problem (hunger) whereas the Comcastic tech generally creates problems.

I have noticed that I don't always receive the CBS OTA HD signal out of Ft Myers, even though my signal strength is in the 90s. Yesterday PM I could not get the BB Game (Florida). But the day before I did get the games. Does the local affiliate sometimes sent the HD signal and sometimes NOT send it?

Thanks,

Brownie

Comcast in Lee County added Universal HD, and National Geo HD as well as A&E HD a short while back.

A&E HD has disappeard from the lineup. Has any one else experienced this?

Is Comcast still tweaking their HD channel line up?

I was on vacation in SW Fla. recently. I found with Comcast cable with no-box and a HDTV "with" an ATSC Digital tuner you could get the following HD channels:
NBC HD
CBS HD
ABC HD
Fox HD
CW HD
PBS HD
Discovery HD
A&E HD
Plus several SD Digital channels:
NBC Weather Plus
MTV2
NBA TV Preview Channel
On-Demand Preview Channel
Best Buy didnt know that the set had an ATSC tuner on that model. Comcast said abox would be needed to get any HD. I only did another auto-scan to get them.

Which Comcast channel does CW-HD appear on, both with the cable company's set top box and also for those that have TV's with QAM tuners? I can't locate it with either the Comcast SA8300HD DVR or with my HDTV's built-in QAM tuner.

What's wrong with Fox 4? My neighbor bought a mid-price Sony LCD HDTV connected to DTV with their H20. The TV is used as a monitor, the H20 tunes ATSC.

The H20 refuses to 'find' 36-1, even though a signal meter shows channel 35 (where 36-1 lives) is hitting 95% signal strength.

All the other Ft. Myers, and some Tampa, OTA signals work fine.

I have 4 HDTV's with QAM turners and not all are able to receive all of the clear QAM channels.

A&E HD is QAM 77-1
Discovery HD is 88-1
Golf HD is 113-1 or 113-16 (on different brands of HDTVs)

I can't locate CW-HD with any of TV's built-in QAM tuners nor with the the Comcast supplied SA8300HD DVR.

As far as I can tell I have been paying "Comcast" for six months now and am still getting the same Time Warner programming from before the "switch." The've changed the little crawl on the bottom of the OnDemand splash screen and air a bunch of comcastic commercials, but that's about it for actually being provided by Comcast as far as I know. Am I wrong? If I go to Comcast's site and look up channel lineups for 33904 they don't have the list assembled yet. I've seen Fox HD and the NBC weather channel added in the last few months, but that's about the only lineup changes. What channels/package am I actually getting with my money here?

Right now the only reason I'm still with cable is for the internet service which my business lives and breaths on. I would love for FIOS to make it's way down here, but that's another whole thread hi-jack in itself...

QAM Channel lineup shuffle for my TV.

NBC HD is now 1-1 (used to be 78-1)

ABC HD seems to have disappeared. Does anyone else still get it? If so, what channel?

I now get MTV, MTV2, A&E HD, Disc HD, and ESPN Deportes in the clear without the box.

Anyone else?

I usually watch the Today Show in HD each morning (either live or off the Comcast supplied HD DVR) and WBBT in Ft. Myers has been doing a really poor job. For example this morning on at least 4 occassions when coming back from a local feed to the HD network feed they forgot to "through the switch" and the result was not only video in std. def. but also a strong echo on the audio. About one half of the Today Show was broadcast this way - totally unacceptable. This situation has happened just about every day over the past week for one or more segments (usually serveral) of the Today Show. I sent a email to Waterman Braodcasting's HDTV feedback link. I suggest that other local AVS forum members also email the station to complain about their really poor handling of HD broadcasting. Their HDTV feedback email address is: HDTV@water.net

Last night between 9:00 and 10:00, I lost the COMCAST NBC and ABC HD channels. As has been written in the thread I still have CBS and FOX in addition to some new channels and all have been reassigned again.

Can anyone please update me on the status of the NBC and ABC broadcast. Thanks from North Naples

Try doing a scan of the channels again and see if that picks up the new locations. Comcast now has channed 4 of the digital channels to:\\

1-1
1-2
1-3
1-4

NBC-HD is now on 1-1 and ABC is on 1-2.

This mapping may be different with different brands of HDTV/QAM tuners.

Out of the Ft. Myers/Naples area, the four "chained" broadcast are:

1.1 PBS HD (WCGU)
1,2 WCGU (non-HD)
1.3 non HD FCGU "The Florida Channel"
1.4 HD CBS (WINK)

Still looking for ABC and NBC ?????

I have 4 HDTVs with QAM tuners. All behave differently and get a different combination of digital channels. The 20" Vizio LCD I have in the kitchen is actually the best at finding the digital channels, while my Panasonic plasma, Toshiba LCD and JVC D-ILA projector find fewer than the Vizio. I also find the sets that do find the 1-x mapped channels are finding a different group of channels from each other (they do find the PBS-HD channel however).
