Last night at about 9.50pm I was watching "24". The station cut out and was still off line this morning. Anyone else have this problem?

Me too. Same time as you. It was only FoxHD OTA (36-1, I think). Both FoxSD OTA (36) and Fox via Comcast (ch. 4) worked just fine. I did not check this morning to see if FoxHD was back up.

dpack5 cbs is a low intensity station out of St. Pete
my brother only gets it 90% of the time in Sarasota with a great Winegard OTA on a mast with rotor
check out this site for more powerful stations near you
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?state...&slon2=&size=9
hope this helps until you get LiL on D*tv
I'm lucky here in Orlando,we get them all at max power,Plus fox is O&O and we get that from NY on D*tv
I use a winegard Sq shooter with great results with my RCA-210,my old E-86 had trouble with about 1/2 the stations.
good luck

Has anyone asked and received a waiver from WINK for getting CBS-HD from DirecTv ?

I know it is probably a long shot, but I am going to try this week.

I have been watching HD for 3 years on WBBH-DT NBC2 & WZVN-DT ABC7.
It wasn't THAT big of a deal to me not getting CBS in HD, as I watched my Tivo more then my HD received
Now I just got HDTivo, and not having CBS really sucks!

I did. My mom lives in Naples & I had D* request all 4 waivers. The only one granted was ABC. I called CBS & spoke with someone in management there & they told me they deny all waiver requests. He put the blame specifically on the FCC for delaying their application for the antenna. Said HD will be available by Fall '05, maybe sooner on cable. They were very protective of their local signal & advertisers. Looks like you'll have to wait for them to get CBS-HD there.

"My wife and I have been looking at real estate in the Naples/Ft. Myers area. We have been looking at new construction that offers a bonus room or game room that is large enough to make it suitable as a home theater using a front projector with something around a 120" screen (this has kind of limited the houses we would consider acceptable). Based on the postings in this thread I feel that I have the general picture on what HD channels are available and what's not (CBS) via over-the-air and cable. I do have one question. We are considering new construction in a development is Estero, along Corkscrew 3 miles east of I75 (won't be moving to SW FL until 2006 in that case). I understand that Comcast serves this area (bought out Media One). Do any of you know if they are wiring new developments with fiber trunks and offering digital cable, HD and cable modem services from day one? I'm also a long time Directv customer and have been using their HD service since it was first offered. I may also retain Directv, especially with the planned substantial expansion in HD capacity expected to come online with the new satellites going up over the next 2 years. I currently live in Northern Virginia near DC and we are scheduled to get the HD locals and a new generation of Directv hardware perhaps as soon as the middle of this year, but the move to SW FL will move us back to using cable or over-the-air for the HD locals until Directv offers those to SW FL customers in the 2007 timeframe."

Ron, I think I can safely say that all the new developments in Naples are wired for digital cable, internet and all. I also own a house there and I spent alot of time looking at places and still do and every single one of them are wired for cable. Of course HD should be available on those cable systems also,it is with Comcast down there, and I would imagine with Time-Warner also. Now how many channels they offer is a different story!

I'm sick of WINK TV and their delays. I had gotten info a month or two ago from a Comcast CSR that CBS was still negotiating terms with them.....looks like he may have been right. Funny how they added the retransmission verbage to this the latest delay....Quote:

WINK-TV and HDTV

Updated March 29, 2005 -

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted Fort Myers Broadcasting Company our DTV construction permit for WINK-DT on October 29, 2004. We are currently in the process of constructing our digital transmission facility.

Due to a longer than expected timetable for construction, delivery and installation of our digital studio facilities, our revised target date for providing you with CBS' HDTV programs via cable is May 15, 2005, assuming we are successful in negotiating a retransmission agreement withe the local Comcast and Time Warner Cable systems.

Once again, we apologize for the delay, and will continue to do our best to expedite the delivery of CBS HDTV programming into your home, via cable and over-the-air.

In the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy watching WINK-TV's highly respected news programs and quality entertainment programs.

Please know that we value you as a viewer and thank you for your patience.

No Final 4 either.

Also you will notice that they removed the promise to begin broadcasting OTA by October 29, 2005. I wonder if they will even be broadcasting via cable by that time.

Yeah, I read that yesterday. No big surprise. Fox is having problems negotiating HD broadcasts w/ the cable companies too. I'm sure it is a challenge to make agrrements w/ monopolies.

Peace,

I am having recent problems receiving digital signals from FOX4 , Cape Coral.

As I have previously posted, I live on the north side of Englewood and use an OTA antenna. Receive NBC, ABC, PBS and WB digital signals with no problem. Have received FOX4 with no problems from first installing my HDTV in November up until about two weeks ago, but now picture is not viewable, breaking up all the time.

Have been in touch with FOX4. They have been very responsive and are looking into the issue. Wondering if anyone else NORTH of Port Charlotte harbor is having any problems with reception and where you are located.

I will pass along any information to those I am working with at FOX4.

Thanks.

While I had no visual indication of a change in my antenna and digital stations on the same bearing as FOX had not deteriorated I decided to move the antenna. I got FOX back so I was the problem. All is well.

I will add that the technical people at FOX 4 and their parent company are great. They have been very helpful several times. Hats off to them.

I turned it about 3-5 degrees further to the west. FOX 4 is 115 degrees from my house based on- http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx Went from a signal strength of 0 to 7-8. Interestingly NBC which is at 111 degrees changed from 9 to 8 and WB which is also at 115 degrees remained at 8.

Time Warner Cable of Southwest Florida will soon belong to Comcast. It was announced that as part of the Comcast-Time Warner-Adelphia deal that Comcast will take control of all Time Warner Florida Cable Systems including the one I have here in Cape Coral.

Comcast better not fire anyone and they better keep TNT-HD, HDNet, and HDNet Movies!

Edit: Comcast will not fire any Time Warner employees and will honor their pensions and time with the company.

For what it's worth -

TNTHD is now at channel 186 on Comcast Fort Myers. No actual video or audio on the channel. Also, there is no programming data for the next week.

Mike

Edit: TNTHD was up and running yesterday (Monday 4/25). Last night's game looked great, even if the outcome didn't.

Time Warner had to change my Motorola box to a SA Explorer 3250HD. The box is nice and smaller, but it pixelates on digital channels every so often.

However, the guide is nice and the HD looks better.

Does anyone else have pixelation issues with HDNet and HDNet Movies?
Good thing I don't watch them much.

InHD is great!

Any word on additions to HD lineup for Comcast/TW?

Since the whole merger/buy-out Comcast has added TNTHD to its lineup. TW always had this channel. Will Comcast add the HDNets? Or, vice versa, will TW add StarzHD and CinemaxHD?

The CSRs are not much help. One recently told me that TNT will be added to Comcast in the next couple of months. We have had it for over a week already!!

One last thing...Can anyone with a SA8000HD box confirm their DVI out is working? For the longest time I kept getting a HDCP error. Now it seems to be working just fine.

Q: When will WB6 be broadcasting in HD?

A: Plans are to have WB6 broadcasting in HD this summer. WB6 will only be able to broadcast The WB programs that are provided to us in HD at that time.

A buddy of mine fired off an email yesterday to WINK and they are now saying that there HD signal will be available to cable customers on June 15. Do we see a pattern here?

Their website has now been updated.

and of course you would know that we people that do not have or want cable will be the last to receive wink-hd broadcasts! right? whatever happened to the time when a local tv station worried more about the overall people and not just the amount of money that could be put in their pockets?

that's my 2 cents worth, hehehe so, i'll get off my soapbox now

WINK will try to get their signal on the air by September. The cable launch is to get the HD service started ahead of time. The FCC just gave them the construction permit in October. It isn't about money.

BTW, just switched to DISH from Time Warner. I had DISH at one time and it is nice to get HD from them. No pixelation!

We have 2 811's which bring us the following HD lineup:
HDNet 9422
HDNet Movies 9423
ESPN HD 9424
Discovery HD Theater 9421
TNT HD 9420
NBC 2 HD 20.1
ABC 7 HD 26.1
FOX 4 HD 36.1
WGCU HD 30.1
WTVK SD 46.1 (HD coming soon)
WRXY SD 33.1 (HD not likely to ever come to this channel)
WINK HD (coming soon on 11.1)

Of course DISH also offers VOOM channels now, but I don't subscribe to them.

FOX 4 HD airing today's Yankees-Mets game in widescreen. Doesn't look too shabby, they likely take FOX's 480p and upconvert it to 720p.
