I just checked Zap2it.com, and it now shows listings for 23-3, so Windows Media Center and Tivo shouldn't be too far behind.

My Tivo now has listings and channel information for 23-3, but strangely it shows 23-2 reverting to SD simulcast programming starting tomorrow(11/7/10.) Is Cool TV going away already, or is there just some confusion over at Tribune Media Services? I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

I'm guessing it's a mistake with TMS, but time will tell. Can't believe Cool TV would go away already, after all I bet 80% of the people still don't even know it's on. I doubt it's on cable TV, for sure it's not on clear QAM or the few remaining analogs on Comcast.

It looks like TMS just got the information wrong, so I've submitted a lineup form to Tivo. I just hope they don't get confused and create other problems in the process of solving this one. I included links to WUCW's own guide and Cool TV's channel list in the form to help them straighten it out.

I was just watching Jimmy Kimmel and saw a crawl stating that KSTP will be down from 12:30-4:30AM for tower work. At this hour it probably won't make much difference, but if you find you're missing DVR recordings in the morning (such as the last half of Jimmy Kimmel,) that's the reason why.

Edit: Rounding the "dial" before turning in for the evening, it looks like WCCO, KARE, WUCW and KSTC are all down as part of this maintenance as well.

KARE-11 now has four channels operating: 11.1 (NBC), 11.2 (Weather), 11.3 (sometimes same as NBC, sometimes Minnesota Showcase), and 11.4 (Weather).

11.3 is 1080i 11.1
11.4 is 480i 11.2
My guess is it's a mapping problem and not actually 2 1080i channels.
Now I could go for a 11.3 if the .3 was NBC Universal but I'd hate to rob bandwidth from great looking 11.1

My TV isn't seeing any extra 11s as of this afternoon. It's possible they were a temporary glitch from when KARE went back online after the recent late night tower maintenance.

My Sony LCD is still getting them but my Tivo is not(although I haven't done a recent Tivo channel scan). My Sony seems to pick up new channels and subs without a scan(if I directly enter the number) although they don't go in my channel scan unless I add it.

I had some serious dropouts on 5-1 trying to watch the 10pm news, though judging from the sounds outside the house, I'm guessing it's due to a change in the flightpath in my area and not any station issue.

Seems to be an antenna problem for me. I didn't have any problems until a couple of nights ago. Now I don't get half the channels I did, and the ones I do, show low signal strength.

I had to move my antenna, from the earlier postings some work was done on the towers. Looks like maybe them moved antennas around up there.

Lately I have had trouble on 11.1, of all channels to loose, this is the worst for me. Not sure if my antenna got moved, or if there was too much snow on it, as I haven't really taken a look at it since.

Could this be the reason????

National UFO Reporting Center
Sighting Report Occurred : 9/11/2010 22:30 (Entered as : 9-11-2010 22:30)
Reported: 9/12/2010 8:08:38 PM 20:08
Posted: 11/21/2010
Location: Shoreview, MN
Shape: Circle
Duration:5+ hours round bright circling orb around tower

My family and I were out in the yard playing under our outside lights and noticed a bright circle of light moving in short bursts getting closer and closer to the tv/radio towers known as the Shoreview towers.

The light was weaving in and out of the cables and finally right next to the tower circling it and then moving out slowly and slightly up and down.

We watched for a couple of hours and then periodically up to about 3:30am.

The light or orb would have moved away further every time we checked.

I went to bed and looked for any evidence of anything that might be of explanation the next morning.

The sky was clear and blue and no sign of anything hanging around the tower or it's cables.

I have never seen anything like what we experienced and felt compelled to share our experience.

I have been told that KSTP is now transmitting ATSC-M/H. Can anybody here in the area confirm that?

Also, can anybody tell me what Mobile DTV devices are currently available? I know about the:

-LG DP570MH 7-Inch Portable DVD and Mobile DTV

-Coby TV-To-Go USB Receiver DTV111

Are there any other devices available right now?

I received an e-mail from a very knowledgeable source today confirming that both:

-KSTP-5

-KARE-11

are indeed transmitting Mobile DTV. I guess it is time to start getting serious about what I should do on this.

What does this even mean?

How does "Mobile DTV" enhance the enjoyment that I already receive while watching channels 5 and 11?

Check out this thread to learn more about Mobile DTV, but unless you'll be using it in a moving vehicle with a small screen(the resolution of Mobile DTV is far less than even SD) you probably won't gain anything.
Mobile DTV does rob some bandwidth but unless you have a Mobile DTV tuner you wouldn't even know the stations broadcast it. A regular DTV won't tune Mobile DTV.

When did WCCO go to 16:9 for Wx? Just noticed last night that they no longer have the bars on left and right side for Wx during their newscast. It's about time! People were talking about 16:9 for Wx back on the old hdtvtwincities.com, it's been that long
Still prefer KARE for Wx though, they use the whole screen for the temperatures covering the 5 state and southern Canada , WCCO still only lists MN

With WCCO's equipment now up-to-date, I'd like to know if/when KSTP will be updating their equipment so that they can finally get rid of those darn VBI lines at the top of the screen and begin showing taped and syndicated content in true HD.
