You're preaching to the choir when it comes to RG6. Our unit has a distribution block where Concast (not a typo, thanks) came in and the runs in the walls are actually good RG6 installed by the builder, so I tied the two outlets we are using into the antenna with a 2 way high bandwidth splitter, replacing the cheap 4-way splitter and eliminating the un-terminated signal loss. The distribution block is the reason I am using the inserter, as I feared the runs might be long enough to cause major signal loss.

The tuners I am using are the onboard tuners for our televisions, Samsung LN-T4642H and UN-32HE4001. I did try hooking up the antenna to both televisions directly and got a mostly acceptable signal. No ION on either set but I figure that's topography more than anything.

9.x changes

Tomorrow (6-1-15) is the alleged debut of Buzzr TV. Previously, it was slotted to replace Bounce on all Fox O and Os, so it would go on 9.4 (on RF9). However, Buzzr's website has it on 9.3. Anyone here got the scoop (and yes, I could just wait until tomorrow, but what fun is that?!!?)

If you look at Rabbitears.info and then the buzzr website there are more than 1 conflicting station affiliate reports. Chicago's affiliate conflicts and there might be more. IMO, this is caused because the buzzr website probably lists the preliminary station in each city and rabbitears.info has the later "corrected" affiliate. I might be wrong about this, but I guess we will see in the next few days what happens.

The Buzzr TV website lists the channel on ch. 9.3 which is where Movies! is currently showing. I will be very disappointed if Buzzr TV replaces Movies! for I really like that channel. There has been no information about Bounce going or Movies! for that matter. Maybe Buzzr TV is not coming to the Twin Cities after all.

New guy here, I am in the prosses of slowly cutting the cord, Still under contract with Direct tv and i plan to but A roku 3
and get an indoor antenna. I live in NE Minneapolis and the house faces North. Can anyone recommend a indoor antenna

I am about 10 miles from Shoreview and do have a window facing North. I have been looking at the Winegard Flatware
there are so many options my head is spinning.

Thanks in advance for helping the Newbie

I recommend the Terk indoor antenna model HDTVi. It does a great job on all channels. It's available at Amazon for around $30. My daughter uses one and it works great. Aim it north, toward the window.

I second Runch, I've seen several people with the Terk antennas(I actually prefer the non amplified version, HDTVi but AFAIK it's been discontinued) and they work quite well. You need the VHF rabbit ears rods for channel 9 and 11, the rest of our channels are UHF and will be using the front protruding antenna.
I also second his recommendation of Amazon, Best Buy(at least used to) sell the amplified version HDTVa for double what it was on Amazon, I don't believe they ever sold the non amplified version.

Decided to go with the Winegard Flatwave amplified easy to hook up Scan took about 3 minutes. Got 41 channels got some duplicates
and some do not come in very good but i would say 20 channels come in clear. Can i say WOW to the picture INCREDIBLE
It is hooked up to a Sceptre 32" LCD HD TV and the picture blows away my Panasonic Plasma ran through Directv. Roku 3 (2015 version) will be arriving soon so i will get that hooked up and start streaming for the 1st time.

Our goal like many others is to be cable or sattilite free once our contract is up with Directv in a year

This gives us plenty of time to get a DVR (channel master maybe) and figure out 2 services
and learn how to stream movies and shows.

What are the best Hulu+ Netflix or whatever can i get a recommendation from anyone?

I love this site

IMO figuring the CM+ goes for $250 and then you might want to add a better "peanut" Tivo style remote for another $30 and then a cheap USB HDD for $60 your up to $340. For the new price of $399 you could get a Tivo with 4 tuners(vs 2 with the CM+) and the Tivo has far more features and a proven track record. For the $399 Tivo you get a box with no monthly fees.
We use Netflix because of the excellent selection of movies and TV programs, others seem to like Amazon Prime which also gets you free and expedited Amazon shipping but less of a selection of titles, I've heard of people using Hulu+ but have no personal experience with it.
Even though my Tivo can stream I prefer a $80 WD+ streamer which not only streams but you can also hook up external USB devices and play them back with a wide variety of formats supported.
If you live in the Twin Cities and your not in the middle of a building you should be able to get all the locals and even channel 41 out of St. Cloud(Big Lake) with little if no breakups. I do have a bit of issues with KSTP(5.1) when the leaves come out but all other channels are rock solid.

If you're looking for a DVR option, you may want to consider this $35 tuner and an external HDD: http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HW-...=dtv+tuner+usb

Or a very similar device also sold on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...f_rd_i=desktop
And it's very new AVS thread:
ViewTV AT-163

BTW the Homeworx's AVS thread is here:
Homeworx HW-150PVR, Support and Discussion

And not to forget the first of such devices, the iView AVS thread:
iView-3500STB Tuner & DVR Owners Thread

I have a couple iViews I've had for a couple years, they aren't perfect and they can be quirky but for the price you can hardly go wrong IMO.

KPXM channel problems?

Anyone else having problems with all the 41.x channels? The KPXM ones? Severe blocking and periodic loss of signal...

That's because they are in a different location from the rest of the Twin Cities broadcast towers, and they are farther away (almost to St. Cloud).

KPXM issues?

RTP - Yes, I am aware of that. It's just that after years of watching with no issues, suddenly, recently, there were problems with blocking and loss of signal. I was wondering if there was, say, work occurring on a transmitter, or some such thing. I notice that today, when I checked it, there seemed to be no problem. Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this new, apparently periodic, signal quality problem, that's all.

KPXM had a permit to move to Shoreview, but it expired months ago. Why didn't they move?

Regarding KPXM, even with an attic antenna (ClearStream 4 Ultra), I can only pickup the channels during the winter when there are no leaves on the trees. Once spring comes and the trees have leaves, I lose all the ch. 41s until fall. I have tried several different antenna options and aiming antennas but nothing ever worked. I have just accepted the fact that these channels are only "seasonal" for me.

Wish KPXM had moved to the twin cities towers.

Channel 25.2 KJNK has switched form DRTV to SBN. This happened about a week ago. I also noticed HMONG TV being broadcast on 25.3, also. I know DRTV was originally scheduled to be on 43.2. But that channel is currently off of the air. Anyone know what's up with channels 25 and 43, and if DRTV will eventually be broadcast someplace? Telemundo is still on 25.1.
