I did get the antenna installed and the channel variety and picture quality is everything I hoped for. The installer's name is TJ McGlynn. His contact info is info-atsign-freehdtvaz.c-o-m or w-w-w.freehdtvaz.c-o-m. The cost was $250 which included antenna, install, cabling, grounding, and an indoor splitter. If needed, the powered amp is another $30 (I think). I didn't need the amp. I'm ~28 miles North by NW of South Mountain (South Mountain antennas are 151 degrees from me). I'd tell you the make/model of the antenna but he wouldn't divulge that. You might recognize it from the attached pic. The manner in which he grounded it wasn't what I was expected but he said it is how the local satellite installers ground when there's no metal conduit close by. (??)

I spoke with another installer at a local franchise of MrAntenna and although I think he could have done a good job too, I went with freehdtvaz.com because he had experience with OnQ boxes and structured wiring which is what I have.

Much thx to those on here who suggested a professional install. Given my work/family schedule, it was well worth the $250.

Sorry, don't know why the pics are sideways. I think you can DL them and rotate for better viewing.

Are you able to receive 50.3 Comet.TV? And if so how good is the picture on that channel?

I went with TJ as well (he came out on a Sunday morning, other guy was closed) and got a powered antenna for my mom. He hooked it into the existing satellite coax and it feeds 4 tvs with a great signal, even though she lives just North of North Mountain. I'd recommend him.

After searching this thread for CenturyLink; I found little discussion about it with today's service? I'm having it installed Tuesday with the Prism service and will be stopping DirecTv.

Are those using CL Prism happy with it? Do I need any precautions on the install. I've had their DSL 12 Mbps service for about 3 years. This will be upgraded to 20Mbps........

I live in Surprise......

Yes, I tried a couple of times and both times an older movie was playing that had the black bars on the sides with the squarish picture but the PQ was good, or as good as to be expected given the format it was broadcast in. Pics attached for one of the movies I saw. These attached pics are what I took with my phone so keep that in mind when viewing.

Also, not that its relevant for what you're looking for but the guide service I use (via SageTV) shows no data for this station so although I can tune it, I don't know what program is showing

I am just the opposite of you in that I am 25 miles North by NE from South Mountain in Mesa and my 50.3 looks like the enclosed photo and I think my antenna is much larger than yours. I cannot understand why it is so poor and everything else is crystal clear, 50.3 is the only one and I really like its sci fi programing.

That antenna looks like a Channelmaster CM-2016.

The installer mentioned that the elevation can make a difference in the north part of the valley. Not sure if or how much that might be helping me though. I'm quite a ways north of the towers. There's a mountain preserve south of me on east side of 67th Ave that I thought might impact me but I must be just far enough west of it.

We have Cox at work and I see they have gone all digital now, we only have locals left. Not sure if we're going to get a box or not. Will the locals eventually go away too?
