Understood. I was just thinking of what would be fast at this late date. I would think you would have heard something by now if it were in the works....

No matter to me, I'll be watching OTA anyway.

Forgive me if someone has already asked, but will the game have 5.1 audio?

Nope I switched back and forth. CBS won IMO. Great fun being able to rank the picture accross all platforms Voom and all the OTA channels.

Hmmm...I was able to hear the voices if I turned it way up. About 20 minutes in it switched to SD. Apparently there were other stations with the same problem though.

Not trying to get you in "trouble." You clearly stated it wasn't coming directly from you. As I thought, Les would shed some kind of "light" on the situation...

Anyone else experience four or five brief signal losses on ER last night on 10-1? Had good signal levels (~74) through most of it, but lost the signal (0-10 signal level) a handful of times.

I wonder if the approach to NAS Norfolk is between Driver and Wmsbg...

I didn't notice any dropouts during ER last night (I'm also in Williamsburg). Of course, I'm using a HD-TIVO and skip through the commercials, so if the dropouts occurred during commercials, I wouldn't have noticed.

John,

Something seems to have changed with the analog time code on WHRO. My Samsung VCR now shows an hour slow while my Sanyo is right on. Not sure what has happened, both worked fine on auto-clock 3 weeks or so ago. You can respond to my email (dhahne@pinn.net) since this is not the right place for this discussion. Thanks.

Dave, I just checked and PAX is on the air. I get signal strength on both my Dishnetwork receiver and my RCA DT receiver but no picture and sound. I tried entering the UHF channel so it would do a rescan but still got no pic or sound but have good signal strength. So it's not just you.

Their digital transmitter must be off-line. All I get is weak signal. The analog is still on the air.

I read today where PAX got rid of about 1/2 their staff including the top honcho's and speculation on PAX staying in business. I'll try and find the article and post a link.

If PAX goes under I wonder if LIN TV will suck that up also?

Pax TV Lays Off 50 Staffers
By Marc Berman Mediaweek.com February 04, 2005
At least 50 executives and staffers were laid off from Pax TV late this week, signaling the potential end of the struggling seventh broadcast network.

If anybody bought it, what would they put on it?
-- Shopping/religious channel?
-- Is there enough audience here for a full-power Spanish TV outlet?
-- Another independent?

And then there's Channel 21 Virginia Beach...

let's just hope they were just making some last minute tweaks before gametime.
What is the multipath forecast for southeastern Va. Beach today?? My signal has been perfect for several days, but every once in a while I still get some freeze ups. I just hope its not tonight.

I've been quite a few breakups so far today on 43-1. It's the first time I've seen any breakups on it since I redid my antenna setup last month. It seems to be working better in the past half hour or so...

I live in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake and I'm not receiving any channels. All signal strengths are good, just no pictures or sound. Any ideas?

Edit: Unplugged/plugged in my receiver, now everything works.

43-1 was solid for me throughout the game. My guests were impressed and I am sure a few will be new HD TV buyers shortly.

The Super Bowl was perfect reception wise tonight for me. I was getting a little worried ealier today, but all is well tonight. Picture looked good with no pixelization noticable. I still think though that the cameras above the sidelines that show each play live aren't as sharp as they should be though. That's a network thing though. Overall, excellent though!

Yes, I lost the PAX channels the other day just after removing the pre-amp from my antenna line. I thought for sure that pulling the amp was the problem, but didn't watch PAX anyway, and wasn't going to go messing with anything until after the Super Bowl!

My guests and I were also impressed with the Super Bowl broadcast! I got a bit nervous at some signal drops and the loss of audio in the early afternoon, but nary a hiccup during the game. Very nice!

WTKR-DT

WTKR-DT has installed a decoder for Dolby E metadata. Effective last night with CSI:Miami, switching from stereo 2.0 to surround 5.1 and back will be done automatically. Also in the past when the switching was done manually, WTKR-DT would stay in 5.1 mode for the entire show. Now the the unit will switch back and forth between local and net, and between programming and net spots.
