My Samsung 151 still can't get WDIV. Shows a goood signal strength, but no audio or video. Can't figure out how to turn off the PSIP feature on the Samsung.

You can't. For the Samsung (and a few other) receivers to display a picture, several values in the PSIP stream have to agree. Lookup tables, PIDs, Major-Minor channel numbers and the like. Many other boxes can simply ignore a glitched PSIP and continue to work. Sammys can't. If the TV station doesn't own/test with a Samsung, they'll get a picture and assume the problem is on your end.

Running a Sony HD-300, am now getting 45-1 and 45-2 where there was none before with no PSIP info. Still getting 4-1, also.

Still nothing on my end. Would like to know if anyone else with a TS360 is getting the same problems. Looks like a Sammy problem at the least. Will it just fix itself over time, or do I need a grassroots petition to WDIV?

Since it sounds like it's an inherent problem with the Samsung receivers, I think the solution will have to come from 'DIV.

I have a Samsung 151 and I'm having the same problem with WDIV. I can't get a picture or sound. I have no problems receiving WDIV on my MyHD capture card (same antenna feed) so it has to be a Samsung related problem.

Does anyone have a contact at WDIV to let them know this is a problem?

I also lost 45-1 yesterday with my Samsung TS160. No picture or sound. Hopefully Dr. Don's efforts with WDIV will resolve the problem.

If it helps anyone talking to WDIV, 4-1 dissapeared during Third Watch on Friday Night (9:05?) on my Zenith 520 and has not reappeared via manual scanning since. This is the first time I've had trouble with their signal since moving to the Detroit area last year.

Try it now. Note that you may have to do a total rescan for it to pick up.

First of all I live 50 miles north of Detroit and 45 east of Flint.

I also have a Samsung SIR-T151. I lost channels 50 and 62 from the HD stream a week and a half ago. Tried deleting all channels in memory-didn't help. Tried unplugging the Sammy overnight-no help. A couple days ago I also lost channel 4. Yesterday I tried rescanning for the heck of it and was able to once again pick up 50 and 62. No luck tho for channel 4. This morning about 11:00 am I tried channel 4 again-nothing. But when I tried scanning the HD side channel45 it popped right back in!! Scanned 45-1 and 2. 45-1 works very well again, 45-2 has no audio or video, but I have to assume WDIV is still fiddling with their signal.

I also had some trouble with a couple Flint stations until I scanned for the HD channel number, not the analog one. As it stands right now here is the list of channels in my Sammy's memory. I have a combo UHF-VHF antenna on top of my two story farmhouse with a CM 7777 preamp. I have an antenna rotor, can't remember what model, but a sturdy one built for short wave antennas. I run RG-6 about 40 feet down to my splitter.

Detroit Stations

Channel 2 58
Channel 4 45
Channel 7 41
Channel 20 21
Channel 38 39
Channel 50 14
Channel 56 43
Channel 62 44

Flint Stations

Channel 5 22
Channel 12 36
Channel 25 30
Channel 28 52

Tried Channel 6 59, but don't think I twisted my rotor far enough. Would also like to get Fox 66 16, because the Fox 2 Detroit signal really sucks out my way, but apparently Fox 66 isn't much better.

Hope that lets you know what's out there and available as of now, who knows about tomorrow!!

BCSMan.. how does it look as of 2:30pm, today?
Anyone else? Need you to list:

Make/model
What your channel indicator says (4-1, 45-1, 45-3, etc)
If you get guide info or not
If you're getting a picture on main and sub as of 2:30pm today or later (I don't need to know about yesterday or last week, etc)

Thanks

Dr Don,
Here's what I just viewed as of 2:45 this afternoon:

1) Samsung SIR-T151 Digital Tuner
2) Channel Indicator says 4-1, 4-2
3) Guide info on both 4-1 and 4-2 (Mini-guide that is)
4) Audio and video on both 4-1 and 4-2
5) 4-1 is the NBC feed, 4-2 is a local weather feed

Hope that helps you out!!

BCSMan, the reason you aren't getting Fox 66 (DT 16) from Flint is that it doesn't exist. Flint FOX is Sinclare owned and if you follow the programming forum you know what that means. (only when they absolutely have to...)

Sounds like you have a good old CDE rotor, bell shaped housing? that;s what I'm using, probably 25+ years old and works like a champ. They are still available but run $400 -$500 from what I've seen.

'DIV's fixes have not hurt the ability of my DTC-100 (guides turned off) to receive both 45-1 and 45-2, audio and video. Both coming in great as of 7:20 PM.

Matt L,
Thanks for the info on Fox 66!!

As far as the rotor, yes you are correct, I bought a rebuilt CDE AR-40 rotor I think off Ebay a couple years ago. The AR-22 I think was the more expensive one you are thinking about. Think I got this one for about $100. Rebuilt by an old Ham operator. Pretty solid and better than any of the Channel Master, etc ones on the market. The only problem I've had is the mast the antenna is mounted to is just a tad too small and has a tendency to rotate when the wind blows strongly. THis summer got to go up and replace it with a larger diameter mast.

Engineering is doing some major revisions to the datastream and they have some MUX software updates to install. HD will be "iffy" over the next couple of days until the process is complete.

DrDon, any chance WDIV will get their DD 5.1 up and running? I know they have done it in the past. I'm not sure exactly which NBC shows are in DD 5.1, but it sounds great on WILX. If it's processed by them it's great, lots of LFE action.

I'm afraid 5.1 is still a ways off. There are some technical problems that have to be resolved before that can move forward. I will do my best to keep you posted.

Weather Plus is down, today (2/25), as things are tweaked to prevent the PSIP from having another coronary, as it did last weekend. They now have multiple stream paths with fail-over running to prevent related problems.
