Anyone know when Cox in OKC will be adding new HD channels? I've been requesting TNT-HD for months, and of course would love to get the darn Sinclair-owned Fox in HD over cable >:. I've also requested the new Universal HD and will start hounding them on ESPN2 in HD later.

I traded a few email with some of Cox OKC people earlier this month they are are currently reviewing all their HD channel expansion opportunities
but have not yet settled on the next channel(s) they will launch. More HD channels are coming the question is just when.

Hidef,

Do you know of any mass organized email or other campaign to Sinclair to try to get them to provide their HD signal to cable companies? I've seen several posts here from different markets griping about it, but haven't seen any organized effort. I know I've sent them a couple of emails, but if there was a central place we might feel like our voice is being heard more.

I'm also psyched about ABC finally showing the Sooners in HD in the Orange Bowl! Boomer Sooner! Now if I were only able to enjoy the Superbowl in HD this year like I did last year. With an 8000HD box from Cox, it just doesn't make sense to give up the DVR and add another box to switch back and forth between just to get Fox in HD.

Not that I know of. I know the local guys want to get on Cox but it looks like Cox and Sinclair are hammering out a nation wide deal that is taking longer. I know public pressure on both sides would help this thing along. You might want to get a $200 DTV OTA box from Walmart to use during the NFL playoffs then when they do get on Cox you can sell it on ebay.

I talked to OETA this morning and all of the OETA DTV stations are now running at full power. They have also expanded the hours that they are on the air. All of the OETA DTV stations broadcast from 6AM - Midnight (same as their analog hours) 7 days a week. They pass through whatever PBS sends them whether it is one HD channel or 4 SD channels; OETA has no control over this and they cannot insert their own local programming yet. They are also still in a test mode so they cannot publish a guide. I know some of you see guide data in your DirecTV guides for OETA stations but that is Tribune Media Services creating this one their own; it is not coming from OETA.

It looks like new Master Controls will be finished in June, so it looks like OETA DTV channels could appear on Cox cable systems as early as July but don't hold your breath.

CPanther95,

Can you update the top post to say that the FCC approved the change for KAUT-DT in January. They will be on channel 40-1. They told me they will on the in August or September.

Sent you a PM.

I'd rather move one of your old posts over so you become the OP - then you can format and update how you see fit.

Does anybody know if there is any coverage of the OTA DTV channels to the Norman area from OKC? Or more specifically, could it be possible to get good coverage from a powered indoor antenna from the center of town?

I would try out Cox (they said they do offer it), but I'm wanting to wait until they sign an arrangement with Sinclair, so they'll have Fox available.

My priority channels would be Fox and NBC, but I just want to find out if any coverage is available.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

D. Haas

You shouldn't have any problems getting the channels in Norman from either a rooftop or attic antenna.

Your reception from an indoor antenna may vary from stations to station.

If you are on the west side of Norman you might have some problems getting KOCO-DT.

Anyone in the OKC area with this box?
Mine has developed a problem this week. When viewing non-HD programs and using the Zoom button on the STB remote, I have lost the "stretch" feature. Only the "normal" and "Zoom" are available. When changing to a HD channel, the "stretch" aspect ratio becomes available again.

A cox tech. replaced my box yesterday and "stretch" began working again- until the tech. drove off. Called Cox again and was told that a recent software upgrade is conflicting with these particular boxes and should be resolved in the near future

Anyone in OKC with the Explorer3250HD box- please check your tv and see if you can obtain all 3 aspect ratios (normal, stretch, zoom) with your cox remote when tuned to a non-hd program. If others are experiencing this problem, then I'll accept the fact that it's Cox's software problem and not another defective 3250.

Hey folks. I'm new to AVS and was hoping I might get some help with something.

I'm trying to obtain waivers from my local channels to get distant feeds and have had no luck at all. I'm in Stillwater and I currently subscribe to the OKC feeds via DishNetwork and would at least like to have the choice to subscribe to distant feeds without the local channels arbitrarily saying no.

Do ya'll know of anyone who has been given a waiver by any of the Stations in OKC at all?

The folks I'm dealing with at each station seem to be really hardcore about not giving out a waiver, and I'm feeling that I'm going to be on the losing side of this arguement.

They won't give you a waiver but you can get most of the HD channels over the air in Stillwater.

Thanks . . . but I was hoping to not have to put up a rooftop antenna and I already subscribe to the locals.

Can you get any distant network (ABC, CBS, etc.) HD feeds in Oklahoma via DirecTV or DISH or can we only receive the locals?

I eventually want to get HD but I'm not sure which service would provide the best selection.

Depending on wear you live you might be able to get by with an attic antenna.

We don't qualify for an distant feeds but DirecTV is planning on doing HD locals starting this summer but I don't think it will be until 2006 before they carry OKC HD locals.

So nobody in Oklahoma has been successful in getting a waiver for any distant feeds that you are aware of?

I really wish we could actually decide what we want to watch without the locals pitchin' a fit. I mean if I subscribe to the locals that should be good enough to get a waiver . . . or at least you would think it would be.

The Cox lineup is still incorrect in the top post. It should look like this:

704 NBC - KFOR
705 ABC - KOCO
709 CBS - KWTV
714 ESPN HD
715 Discovery HD
720 HBO HD
725 Showtime HD
731 INHD 1
732 INHD 2

The obvious channel missing is Sinclair owned Fox. Anyone got any news with the Cox/Sinclair negotiations, especially since Sinclair and Comcast reached an agreement last month? You would think that the other cable cos. would fall in line and get/give whatever Comcast did to bring the deal about.

I have a question for you guys. I just recently upgraded my 3250HD box to an 8300HD DVR. The unit is plugged into my Audio Authority 1154A auto sensing switch. The problem is that if I send the signal through my HD switch, the picture on my projector is extremely dark (like a really dark purple) and keeps kicking on and off making my projector go crazy trying to find a strong enough signal. If I hook up the 3250 HD box back up, everything works fine. If I hook the projector directly to the 8300's component out, the picture looks fine. I've also had the 8300 replaced once already with the exact same results. Any ideas?
