No, you only need a tuning adapter if you own a Tivo or other non-TWC DVR.

I'm guessing that the QAM channels are gone for good, but I don't know that for sure.

can you scan in the letter you received??
I only use analog cable and OTA for my HD.
But usually SDV implies 100% digital, and Ill need an adapter of some sort, but have yet to receive any letters...

If you only use analog cable, you will not need a tuning adapter. OTA is not subject to SDV, only cable.

Tuning adapters are only required if you have a non-TWC DVR.

SDV requires two-way communication between the cable box and the head-end to recieve any channels that TWC decides to place in SDV. TIVO and other 3rd party equipment does not support SDV, so that is why a tuning adapter is required for those boxes. Without the adapter, any channels that are SDV will not be viewable without the adapter.

As long as TWC continues to offer analog, you will be okay.

I know all about it....but I also know that in other markets once SDV came in, analog was thrown out and everyone on the service got adapters..even if they were just SDV-to-Analog boxes. My concern was...were they dropping analog and did they say that in the letter the gentlemen referred to. I haven't gotten it.

ydmms,

on or around March 5, 2010, letter says
they're only dropping 3 analog channels
which are:

CMT
ABC Family, and
Oxygen

and that non-twc dvr or programming devices will need
"tuning adapters" because they are not "bi-directional"
communicating devices.

I checked to see if it was still on 91.1and it's still there.I however didn't pick up any of the free premiums you mentioned.I Also cant see the 2 new channels in HD in the 114's.I did find that the moved CBS form 116.1 to 116.3 and there's Discovery HD Theater on 116.2.Also HBO on 122.16 or 122.22 is gone.

ok, the other ch.s

i still don't have 91-1, and i still have
all the premiums,
the Encore's, and HBO-Zone

and i now have 116-2 Discovery HD Theater

and still have CBS on 116-1

it just looks like there will be some shaking going on between now and March 5
when they really make sweeping changes, so, it could be a crazy next few weeks...

yeah i dont keep up with the spreadhseet anymore, after they killed off the majority of the QAM back in like Oct/Nov, I just went back to OTA for my HD, and analog for my regular TV killing time stuff, and ...other means... for my other HD shows.

One day, I'll drop cable TV altogether... when i live alone

Channels seem to come and go all the time. I keep up with this post often & when I see new channels posted they seem to sometimes work. I guess the spreadsheet is useful to know what was once available or as it seems at any moment may be available. I hate having to sit & wait for a full scan just to get nothing new so any posts on channels are certainly useful. Wish there was an easy way to get rid of what can't be decoded. =o\\

Looks Likes its gone for good and for a while it looked like one of the channels that was gonna stay there for good. I lost Teen Nick, MGM Grand, Universal HD, the only channels I have left above 100 are speed channel, CBS HD, and Discover HD theater(dont know why this one came up?)
