Do you mean RTV?

Do you know the physical channel number?

Trip, much appreciated.

Thankfully, it's too weak & too far away to interfere with KYTV 44.

RTV

Dang! Just a smidgen of a signal here in Greenwood, about 20%, and well within their coverage map. Wonder if they're transmitting at their full 15 kW?

@arxaw: Yes, RTV. Sorry for the slight of hand.

@arkeng: I am not far from Greenwood and it is still coming in strong. I am in between The Links and Ben Geren and to the south of the air port, today I am at 80%. Are you still getting Tulsa channels? I am thinking of constructing a DBGH to pick some of those up.

Thanks for the info 4029 and arxaw. I have a private deck/patio but I'd have to use around a 30-ft pole to get it above the roof of my building, plus I'd have to somehow route it around other people's decks. I will have to live with 51.2 for Fox.

Even though KFSM is 2edge for me, I can pick that up just fine. Do you think if Fox upped their transmitter to 1000kW that'd put it in range? They're nine miles farther away than KFSM so it might still be out of range, or borderline.

It's the distance and the hills. Their choice of tower locations is not good for many NWA viewers. They're @ ~660kW and that's all their antenna setup can handle. So, no power increases are planned for KFTA.

BTW, KFSM is currently only at 550kW, not 1,000. They have applied to roughly double power to ~1,000kW ERP, but the project has been delayed until at least next year.

If you click the individual station's call letters on your TVFool results, you'll get a graph showing the number and relative size of hills between you & each station's tower. The TV transmitter tower is on the very far left and your house is on the very far right in the graph.

Reception strength is shown in spectrum colors, with white being the strongest and violet/pink being the weakest.

829, thanks for the heads up on RTV. You must have caught it right after they went on the air. I turned one of my antennas around toward channel 44's tower on Mt. Vista, now getting RTV on 44.1 at about 85%. Unfortunately though, twisting that antenna around about 35 degrees eliminated the Tulsa channels. I still get a couple of Tulsa UHF channels on the other antenna, but I rarely watch them any more anyway.

Good luck with the DBGH and the Tulsa stations. Let us know how it works out.

This past week or so, I have been getting some bleed on OETA from KFSM and OETA becomes temporarily unavailable, anyone else seeing this?

829, are you talking about KOET-DT (3.1) from Eufaula or KOED-DT (11.1) from Tulsa, and what kind of interference are you seeing?

If you're in the Northern part of the DMA and can get KSPR out of Springfield, their local news/weather is now in HD.

It's a huge improvement over their old blurry analog studio.

Yes, KOET 3.1. I get artifacts from KFSM on KOET and I have been loosing 3.1 regularly. This happens either reversing from 5.1 or advancing from 44.1.

No one has been in my attic to touch my antenna, but I guess it could be vibration from Jet's, it seems I remember the 188 practicing one night, but I do not remember if it was before or after I started having this issue.

That's interesting 829. I watch KOET occasionally, most recently Monday night I think, and didn't notice anything strange. What type of receiver(s) does it happen on? All receivers? If KOET is your weakest station, maybe some receiver overloading from KFSM? Is there an amplifier on your attic antenna?

I hope our locals find the funding and/or motivation soon for HD news and weather for us viewers here in the river valley. Before the transition I used to watch the Tulsa news and weather simply because it was in HD.

4029, anything you might be aware of?

It is my weakest at around 70%. The antenna is powered.

I was initially surprised that KSPR went local HD, since it's a smaller market than LR (where even Wheel of Fortune is still in SD). But it made sense to go ahead and do HD, while they were consolidating and moving into a brand new studio in KYTV's building, owned by the same company. It would've been crazy not to. Digital automation also cuts costs by cutting back on the number of people used to run the station. According to the Springfield thread, with robotic studio cameras and other gadgetry, a news show that used to require 7 behind the scenes people to produce is now done with only 2.

I imagine for the most part, though, stations are in a holding pattern WRT upgrades. KFSM delayed their power increase until next year and their River Valley translator is on hold indefinitely.

829, lots of folks out there more qualified than I am, but sounds like a hardware issue to me. Don't know if there is a thread on the AVS forum or other for your particular receiver or not, might be someone there who's had the same problem. If you haven't already, a google search with your receiver number might turn up something.

I only know about us and I've said it before. Hearst owns 27 stations. Their goal was to convert 3 a year. They have done 6. We are at the bottom of the list. 21/3=7 years. We would love to do it now. Now for even more bad news. The economic crunch caused Hearst to cancel any conversions next year.

Getting pixels with sound hiccups every 8-10 seconds on 40/29. Both Dish and OTA signal.

The game is going to be a pain to watch.

UPDATE: It stopped once the game started - must have been the ESPN studio feed problem

yeah, i'm sure not many people are really wanting to watch Craig or Donna in HD. Then again some may want to see Angelica or Melissa in HD. all in good fun.

Yeah, seeing Craig's bridge fall out of his mouth on camera was bad enough in Standard Def.

Didn't watch it Wednesday night, but a pretty weak signal here right now, barely enough to lock.
