Trip, I'll try to get a capture next week.

Cool, I'll look forward to it. In an ideal world, I'd love to be updated on all of the Fayetteville-exclusive signals (KHOG, KWNL, KKAF, KPBI, KNWA, KWOG) but I'm sure you have actual work to do, so I won't be a bother, haha.

We had a factory rep from Harmonic (encoders and multiplexers) and I worry he took away too much bandwidth from PSIP. I'm not getting any PSIP alarms but the data rate is a lot lower than what we had in Fort Smith.

I'm sure he did more than "take bandwidth away." I'd be curious to see it. If the timing fits with regard to the caller, then it sounds like that could be the culprit.

Also seeing blocking out of the fiber in Fort Smith once in a while. Fiber IS supposed to be better, right?

That depends on your implementation. I could tell you a horror story about the worst fiber installation ever (and I had to work with it!), but I don't want to keep anyone up at night!

Terrible picture quality on 40/29 today for OSU-Texas, lots of blurriness the entire game.

Edit to add watching on Directv.

Saw the same thing you did on DirecTV, really noticable. But when I tuned to KHBS over-the-air I didn't see anything out of the ordinary for the short time I watched it.

Glad that it is not just me. Both OTA(21.1) and on my Dish Network system the picture is blocky and at times pixelated. been like this for a week or so.

Looks like something is wrong with the KHBS MPEG encoder. KHOG appears to be ok. We are working to figure it out as quickly as we can.

We think we have it fixed. Is anybody still seeing a problem?

I don't understand that. That would be a little late to do any good, unless you just like to gripe. If something is wrong, we need to know now while there is still time to fix it. I think we are the only station that actively seeks help from our viewers to help us make the picture the best it can be.

Well, gee whiz 4029, that's not nice to accuse me of wanting to gripe. Wasn't my intent, sorry you took it that way. But I can't tell you if there is still a problem with HD SEC football games on 40/29 until I watch another one, and Saturday's game appears to be the first one scheduled. If that's too late, never mind.

OK. The problem was there all the time. It was driving me crazy during dancing with the stars last week and during reporters stories in news. Please let me know if you see anything.
Thanks

The game looked good here Saturday. Now we have a new issue. A new computer system that automatically stores and plays news video went on line Friday and at random times it is having an audio/video sync problem. That was really apparent in the pregame show. We have two guys from the manufacturer here trying to figure it out. Of course, we are the only place that has ever had that problem with this equipment. Lucky us.

I am traveling to Fayetteville next week for tailgate/football and was hoping to bring my TV and use a basic OTA HD Antennae. Can you get the major networks OTA in Fayetteville? CBS, ABC, NBC?

Yes. All networks are UHF. Only the local PBS affiliate is on high-VHF.

Noticed a couple of days ago KHOG is now being carried on Directv with KHBS. Guide says it's HD, but is a SD feed it looks like.

If you're not familiar with Fayetteville, it's very hilly. Reception is feast or famine, depending on where you are. Of the commercial networks, ABC is probably the easiest to receive with a simple antenna.

We ran a test injecting a logo on KHBS only and it showed up indicating it is not actually KHOG. It could be a work in progress though. They pick up KHBS OTA from Fort Smith and can't pick up KHOG from there.
We have been trying to get them to carry both for years. We didn't know about it either until someone just stumbled across it.

I just noticed what once was RTV now has a MeTV logo and the programming is different.

Is RTV gone for good?

KPBI ch 34-1, Eureka Springs is showing MeTV instead of RTV. If you are in the KPBI viewing area and cannot get 34-1, try rescanning for OTA digital channels.

Additionally, LocalTV, LLC., the owner of KFSM, has filed a call sign reservation with the FCC. If their purchase of KPBI is approved, they plan to change the call letters from KPBI to KXNW.

I wish it would go back to RTV, my father has called me about 10 times since it switched over complaining. lol, i just hope that they get the guide info updated for his Dish Network system. that might solve some of the complaints. at least he won't be calling saying "Highway to Heaven" is suppose to be on but its so and so. lol

As far as I am concerned, the National EAS test was a failure. I think the entire concept is outdated and should be scrapped!

Anyone else having issues receiving 40/29 OTA in Fort Smith? Maybe the storm just moved my antenna?

That would be 40.
Channel 29 is fine up here in NWA. I'm watching it at the moment via a loop antenna in NW Carroll Co.

Yes I know it is 40, I am just use to calling them 40/29. It appears to be my antenna. I climbed up and onto the roof and was able move the antenna a little and it is starting to come back. Now I need to tighten everything down again.
