Local TV's (KFSM's parent company) request to purchase KPBI has been approved by the FCC. Read last paragraph of this pdf:

Can anyone confirm what is on KPBI today? The sale closed on Friday.

34-1 PSIP KXNW - MY Network SD 480i
34-2 PSIP KFSM - CBS HD 1080i

Hopefully, they'll increase the power eventually.

Interesting. On one of my TVs, the sub channels are as in the post above; on another, they are transposed. How can that be... Trip?

My bet is that the transport stream is identical, but they've flipped the PSIP around.

Let me try to explain it in as accessible a manner as I can. This is how the KFSM signal is set up.

Program 1 (CBS) = 5-1
Program 2 (MyN) = 5-2

Now, what I suspect is going on is that nothing is being changed except for the PSIP. So that means:

Program 1 (CBS) = 34-2
Program 2 (MyN) = 34-1

Now in theory, this shouldn't be a problem; it should figure out that 34-1 comes before 34-2 and list the stations accordingly. However, some tuners don't follow the ATSC standard properly, and will list them in order of the Program Number. I've seen it happen before.

I hope that explains it.

And thanks for the info; I have updated RabbitEars accordingly.

Clear as mud. Actually, I think I understand.
Thanks for the explanation. I just hope they eventually bump the power up to 1,000kW.

Rabbitears still lists it as KPBI.

The FCC still says it's KPBI. RabbitEars pulls from the FCC database. Once it changes in the FCC database, it will change on RabbitEars.

Just curious as to how KFDF-LD 44-1 in Fort Smith fits in all this. Back in November 2011 KFDF was carrying MeTV programming (the same as KPBI?). Then sometime in early December the station went dark (literally) on my receiver, apparently a carrier but no video. Good signal strength, but the screen was black. I just checked it again today, and it's back on showing RTV programming. Was KFDF part of the KPBI deal?

Probably related, DirecTV is no longer carrying KPBI 34, with the guide just saying "DirecTV is no longer carrying this station."

KPBI, Eureka Springs was formerly owned by Riverside Media and sold to Local TV, LLC., parent company of KFSM.

IIRC, KFDF is owned by Pinnacle Media.

KFDF has signed with RTV, and was not included in the sale of KPBI. It was supposed to have started (resumed?) airing RTV on its primary channel starting on Friday.

Thanks guys, I read somewhere that KFDF was/is owned by KALEIDOSCOPE/Riverside, and the timing of things seemed to fit...

Is there a process for requesting a station be added to the "significantly viewed" list for satellite? I live about 5 miles northwest of Harrison in Boone County and KNWA's signal easily reaches the entire county.

DirecTV does not offer Significantly Viewed channels (aka "Neighboring Channels") in the Springfield, MO or Fort Smith markets.

Additionally, even though they may offer them, they are not required to offer them anywhere. Your only recourse is to petition your sat provider to offer them.

Maybe KFSM wanted KOLR removed because KFSM is not allowed on cox in Eureka Springs or Berryville.

Cox is in the process of taking off the Little Rock networks in Harrison. KARK is already gone and KATV will follow in February. This is causing an uproar here. Harrison cable has had access to Little Rock channels for 60+ years. Front page news in the Harrison Daily Times. I am hoping this outrage will help get Fayetteville networks considered "significantly viewed" in Boone County.

Arkie, I guess that means the LR stations will be yanked from Berryville & Eureka, too?

IMO, Boone, Carroll & Newton should be in the FSM/Fay DMA. The decision to put those counties in an out-of-state DMA was made back before Fayetteville even had television stations.

We had to reboot the channel 29 HD encoder today. It was pixelating badly. Looks like it is good again.

It's a new one. Please stand by while we reboot our television station

Thanks for the info.

Was it acting up last night during the Academy Awards? It kept doing a weird freeze/slo-mo thing on my TV. Finally switched to KSPR in Springfield and their video was fine.

Yes, but all I saw at my house was the blocking.

Did a scan last night and picked up KXNW/KFSM 34. They were pixellating at times, but this morning they seem more stable. Getting a 58 on the Dish receivers, whereas the old KPBI would consistently be upper 70's and low 80's. Hopefully they aren't at full power yet.

justpushplay,
I hope it holds for you. But your improvement may just be related to the weather and atmospheric conditions. I haven't heard anything about a power increase yet.

Live in the 72727 area and got an antenna put up recently. Get a fair amount of stations for the simple set-up i'am running but there is some i cant seem to get even the slightest blip from. Before i go any further in trying to get these other stations i want to verify that they are still on air and not down for some reason as i've been told that the list off tvfool sometimes are not up to date.

Stations i'am wondering about are (36)KFFS-CA, (41)K62DQ, and (33)KKAF-CD .
Currently i am recieving (43) KODE-TV ,(9) KAFT ,(34) KXNW ,(15) KHOG-TV ,(50) KNWA-TV (39) KWOG-DT, (31) KWNL-CD and their subs. Seems like i should be picking up atleast something on ocassion from the three stations in question if they're broadcasting.
