Now, the Rachael Ray Show is in HD.

Guess it won't be longer before we see the final season of Oprah, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! in HD, huh?

WRDW bailing on VHF, petitioned to move from 12 back to 31, now that WFXG is keeping 51.

We live in Evans near downtown, in a 2-story. I have a home-made centipede style DB-8 bowtie with two distribution amplifiers in series in an equipment crowded attic (dual A/C handers) so there are RF reflections, absorbances. After much fussing with multiple antennas and reverse splitters, I am down to the one and a reflection screen at a right angle to the centipede. I get 16 channels, from 6,12,14,20,26,49 and 54. If not just right, I lose one of the PBS channels (14,20) or channel 54. The strengths are less than 100% but usually good enough to view without interruption. Weather plays a roll in light to severe pixellation (jaggies) of the picture from time to time, but today (Saturday, 9/17/2011) we lost channel 6 (WJBF,ABC) completely for the first time even though it's our strongest signal. Does anyone know why? [Aside, this is on the heels of unusual behavior of the TV and one of the routers.]

Post script - channel 6 is back this morning, Sunday 9/18/2011 (on both TVs - it was gone on both yesterday afternoon.) The computer equipment failures turned out to be a problematic power plug so they were probably not related. However, the big HDTV would not stay powered on (it has an ethernet connection) until I powered it down completely (it's a VISIO, so I had to pull the plug) and restored the factory settings. I'm not sure which act was the problem solver but had tried resetting to the factory settings before to no avail. The day earlier, I was able to restore a computer connection using the same strategy of removing the power for a short period. We all recently had an upgrade to our power meter so the power company can read the meter from the company by computer over the power line so I'm curious to know if that's part of the problem.

WRDW takes over WAGT

Quote:
Gray Television and WRDW News 12 Welcome WAGT NBC 26

WRDW News 12, owned and operated by Gray Television, welcomes WAGT NBC 26 into the Gray Television family beginning February 16, 2016. WAGT is one of seven television stations previously owned by Schurz Communications, which was purchased by Gray Television in an agreement reached by both broadcast companies in September 2015.

Will there still be local news on NBC 26?
Yes. WRDW News 12 will simulcast its local news broadcasts on NBC 26 throughout the day, including weekday mornings 4:30am-7am, weeknights at 6 & 11pm, and 11pm on weekends. The NBC 26 weekend morning and weeknight 7:00 pm newscasts will be discontinued starting February 16. The weeknight 7:00pm newscast will be replaced by syndicated episodes of The Big Bang Theory, which will be shown weeknights from 7:00-7:30pm and 7:30-8:00pm.

Who will be on the newscasts?
Newscasts will be brought to you by the News 12 news team, the area’s most recognized and honored news organization.

Why am I not seeing WAGT anchors and reporters I used to watch on NBC 26?
The anchors and reporters seen on NBC 26 were not employed by Schurz Communications/NBC 26, but are currently employed by WJBF’s parent company Media General, which until February 16, 2016 had been overseeing the WAGT newsroom.

WAGT Anchors Tell Viewers to File Complaints With FCC After Gray Takeover

Sources tell TVSpy the changes mean WAGT employees are out of jobs. We are awaiting a statement from Gray for more information. But WRDW says the acquisition will allow it to expand. “The addition of WAGT positions WRDW to offer additional resources to promote community events and the missions of local non-profit organizations,” a statement on its website reads.

WAGT anchors Jay Jeffries and Barclay Bishop, who, until today, were anchors of the NBC26 morning show, asked viewers to file complaints with the FCC. They also encouraged viewers to watch ABC affiliate WJBF.

I'm in the North Augusta area and have trouble receiving all the local channels. I get 6, 12, and sometimes 26 (and their digital extras). Never 54. Anyone else in the area have any luck?

WFXG Changing 7/29/2016

WFXG-TV signal upgrade requires antenna users to rescan their TV receivers:
On Friday, July 29, WFXG is increasing the power of our transmitter signal. We're doing this to increase our television service to the CSRA, strengthening our commitment to our viewers and community. In making this upgrade, we're making a change to the signal output that will affect anyone who receives our signal with a TV antenna.

If you receive WFXG over the air (using an antenna), you will be required to re-scan your TV's channel receiver in order to find us. You WILL NOT be required to re-scan UNTIL the date of the upgrade - Friday, July 29. (If you do, you will still need to perform a re-scan on that date.)
