Are any of you guys having problems with the HD channel picture pausing every minute or so? It pauses, pixelates and then corrects itself but it does it every minute or so. Ever since the 3.2 update for the Moxi on 5-23-05 my HD channels dont work like they should. On Monday it happened like every 20 seconds but today on Tuesday, it is about every minute. When I record, it even records the problem. I called and instead of the tech I was supposed to get, I got a call back from the local office saying they had issues and they fixed it but the problem persists. I am supposed to have a tech out on Friday but I was just curious if I am the only one having this problem.

Well guys look like we might get another HD channel soon but it doesnt look like it is what I wanted at least. I was in the local Walla Walla office and was messing with the old HD only box they had hooked up to thier plasma display. Channel 793 states that it is HDPPV on this old box but on my Moxi, it states that there is no info available. I hope that the old box is wrong and that it is instead UniversalHD. Come one Charter!!!!! No HDPPV, get UniversalHD, guys, write emails, call or whatever, tell them we dont want HDPPV but UniversalHD instead. Unless of course you want HDPPV then your still cool.

Edit: I just called the 866 number for the hell of it and they didnt know what it was. They did say that Sacramento and Redding California were getting UniversalHD soon but didnt know about the TriCities/Walla Walla area. Hopefully the whole HDPPV is a crock and it is indeed UniversalHD.

Flipping through channels today and noticed that channel 793 is now labeled INHD. I hope that we get INHD 1 and 2 but something is better than nothing. Now only if they would add UniversalHD.

Anyone else notice a new channel on Charter HD.. 788. Not sure what it is yet as there is no guide data, but there is programming (unlike 793.. still nothing there for me)

Ok, channel 788 is PBS HD... hmm..that's the last local channel I'd want in HD, but I'll take it. I sure wish we had ABC/NBC/FOX etc in HD.

I emailed the locals last month for an update and this is what I got:

KVEW-Should be HD for the Super Bowl
KNDU-Should be HD for the Winter Olympics
KFFX-Another 3-4 years.
KEPR-They have no clue....damn they suck!!

It's the only station that's broadcasted in HD in our area. It is the best looking channel I have...including anything I'm getting from DirecTV.

I agree! However, I'd add the KFFX to the "they suck" list! KFFX is so low powered, that I can barely receive their digital channel. It breaks up so much I can't watch their digital.

Ch 66 stinks also. The best reception I can get for KFFX is on Channel 11 (analog).

Ok, you TriCities guys are getting 788 but here in Walla Walla, I dont. That kinda sucks. I wonder why we dont have it here, we are served by the same headend and the same PBS channel.

I have not been able to pick up Fox 11.1 from Spout Springs for the past two days. My Sammy TS 360 indicates no signal at all. However, the analog signal is just fine.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Well 788 disappeared but 784 and 791 are now visible on mine. Not sure at this point what either of those channels are.

I contacted KFFX's station manager today and she advised that their SD transmitter will be down for up to a month. Having major tech problems.

She also advised that HD will be available in 2-3 years. Incidently, station manager for KDNU recently told me, via e-mail, that he now has the ability to provide HD to the local cable company and D*. Since D* doesn't presently have the capacity and apparently, the cable company isn't willing to pay what KNDU wants, it's a lose lose situation for everyone.

What a pity.

I emailed KNDU today and they said that they will be on Charter in HD by the end of January!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!! The last email to KVEW said they would be HD for the superbowl, I also sent an email today to see if that was still true and they havent gotten back to me on that yet. But that is cool, winter olympics in HD as well as some NFL games next year and Nascar.

I presume KNDU will not be broadcasting in HD via OTA by the end of January. Just with Charter.

Well, KVEW got back with me and said that they are still shooting for the SuperBowl for thier HD but didnt give me a specific time like KNDU did. And as we know, KFFX is still several years out and who knows what KEPR has planned.

Well I put up a channel master 4221 today so I can be ready for superbowl in HD, as long as kvew is up and going by then. Before today I have been watching my HD channels through my samsung ts360 receiver.
My results:
KFFX11 its not perfect but its comparable to what I get from the sat
KFFX11.1 gets a signal but no picture
KEPR 19 looks alright
KEPR 19.1 nothing, probably due to their 36.4kw of power
KNDU25, 25.1, 25.2, 25.3, 25.23 all come in good
KNTW 31 is a bit fuzzy
KNTW 31.1 nothing I must be too far away
KNTW 31.2 nothing
KVEW 42 looks good
KVEW 42.1 looks good
KBWULP 66 is fuzzy

Anyway, I was kinda hoping to get the PBS HD channel, they have 47.6kw I would think that I could get it. Whats with KFFX11.1?

I live in Hermiston Oregon, anyone else around this area having better luck than me? Should I get a larger antenna?

Hey WaSSted,
Good to hear from a fellow Hermistonian. I just hooked up a little indoor amplified set top type antenna just to see what I would get.
It's pretty inconsistent but I was surprised that I get anything. 42.1 seems to be the easiest to get but it is pretty iffy; sometime it comes in and sometimes it doesn't. Antenna has to be pointed in just the right direction. Same with KNDU's digitals. Once I was able to get 31.1 and 31.2. They looked great at the time (about a week ago) but I haven't been able to get them since. Anyway, I'll be putting up an antenna soon, either outside or in the attic. Just trying to decide if it should be directional (probably) or have a rotor on it (probably not). Is everything we are going to get here coming from the same tower farm? What area are you in? I'm in highland summit near East 10th and Main.

KEPR, KNDU and KVEW I am pretty sure have all thier towers in the same spot. KEPR still has not said when they plan on HD, last I asked, they said they wouldnt unless they were mandated to by law or if thier equipment broke down and had to replace it. KFFX's tower is over by Spout Springs and they said no HD for at least another 3 years due to the expense of a new microwave system to get HD to the tower, I gues they just bought a new microwave system a few years ago and dont want to upgrade so soon, 10million dollars is what I think the engineer told me but dont hold me to that, but I know that if stations wanted to, they could supply the HD signal to the cable companies even if they dont have the capacity to transmit it over the air. I just wish Charter would get UniversalHD, and National Geograhic HD, those would keep my happy for a while.

I could never get a consistent answer from Charter whether HD was available here in Hermiston. I got so sick of their worthless customer service I just went with D*.

would like to throw in my two cents worth here.

KNDU is advertising that the olypics will be on 25.1 digital and "charter digital 780" (or was it 788, the analog channels on the moxi look like CRAP) My thought on this is that that Charter might be giving us UniversalHD which is going to be carrying alot of HD olympic coverage. I would be VERY suprised if this is an actualy local KNDU (or KNDO) feed.

KEPR/KIMA
When I talked to KEPR a couple weeks ago, I was told that it was a LONG ways off. That said, a co-worker of mine put an email into KIMA in yakima. KEPR is the sister station of KIMA. They told him late spring/early summer for OTA HD and the ability to apply for a waiver from direct or dish.
I then called the Cheif Engineer for KIMA and left him a voicemail inquiring about said Email and asking for a call back. More on this tomorrow if i hear from him.

KFFX-As stated earlier, KFFX says 07' for HD....which is unexceptable. oh well.

KVEW-Their Chief engineer says keep your fingers crossed for the superbowl. said the equipment has been on order for a while now, hes just waiting to recieve it. I then volunteered to help him install it if needed help as i am a network engineer an turn a mean wrench he also gave me the impression that they had an agreement in place with Charter to carry them in HD once they got thier equipment up and running.

Where i am located in richland, im not getting hardly any signals digital wise, im going to have to wait on charter to feed me these signals.

if anyone hears anything else, let us all know.

I dont know if they will be adding UniversalHD but I know they are adding KNDU by the end of January. I speficially asked the station manager in an email when the NBC station would be HD on Charter and he answered back the end of January for the Olympics. Now if we get UniversalHD in addition to that, it would rock but im not holding my breath, I have hounded Charter every month since we got HD to add UniversalHD and still nothing. Also guys with Charter, start bugging them about National GeographicHD its out now, and INHD1 and INHD2, those are probably the best HD channels that are out now that we dont get.....in addition to UniversalHD.

Anyone else having trouble with 788 (PBS HD)? It hasn't worked for me for several weeks. Called Charter and they weren't able to figure out why it wasn't coming thru. They transferred me to Moxi support but I hung up after being on hold for too long.

i was just coming to post that a buddy of mine called to tell me he watched law/order in HD OTA 25.1!!! woooot!!

PQ on pbs probably rivals DiscoveryHD. Looks good tonight and it was working the other night when blues travelers were on Austin limits....i had that turned up to "11" and it sounded amazing and looked great too.

that said, PBS isnt part of the HD tier....DONT ASK ME WHY!!! they wanted like 2 bux/month for it or some crap i told them where to put it. but i did sign up for a new package that gives me literally everything including PBS HD and it saves me 15/month over what i was paying before. couldnt tell you the name of the package cause i havent gotten a new bill just yet.

wonder how much they will increase prices for HD tier with the additions of a couple locals?

While we are discussing PBS, my moxi still does not have an icon for PBS. just has the defualt moxi icon....driving me nuts....

Thats wierd about PBS, I get it and I just have the HD tier with expanded digital. Did your friend say how the PQ was? I was always concerend that KNDU might have inferior HD since they multicast several channels. I cant wait till its added to Charter lineup and trust me......I am crossing fingers and toes for the Superbowl to be in HD.

He said it was amazing. Said it rivaled PBSHD. He is on a pioneeer 50" plasma, but doesnt have alot of other HD experiance. I will wait to see for myself, as I had the same reservations you have.

its even more official now Charter 782 starting Feb 1. hope we get a late christmas present and get it a bit before feb 1!!
