KTNW Transmitter Failure
KTNW's transmitter in the Tri-Cities has had a major failure. It will be days before it is operational again and we expect to be back on the air by Tuesday at the earliest.
Our engineers are working overtime to fix this issue and will be in discussions shortly with the manufacturer, Larcan, to determine the fastest route to get it repaired.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our viewers.
As we learn more, we will keep you posted.
Also, is anyone else having severe fluctuations in signal for KFFX 11.1? If I leave the signal meter on, it will work fine for several minutes and then just drop to zero signal, then jump back up. It is very random. I have not moved my antenna in almost 3 years and it is mounted in my attic, so it is not affected by wind. Is anyone else seeing this?
I also noticed the problem yesterday. Looks to me that they are transmission problems. The same thing was happening OTA and with their cable channel.
It would be nice if, seeing as their is common ownership between KIMA/KEPR and KOMO, that they simply just hand over all of their operations, including news, to KOMO 4. Keep the newsrooms here but no need for studios or anything. Save them money and would look a hell of alot better than it does now. But yeah, you would think KCPQ-13 would consider getting a repeater down here too because our local FOX is boring. Being from Seattle I guess I'm spoiled by market 14 TV. I'd pick KING over KNDO, and KIRO over KIMA any day.
Emailed KIMA-TV's CE to see why the CW isn't in HD or at the very least widescreen. It is nice that pretty much everyone, KNDO, KIMA, KAPP, and KCYU are at least in widescreen... Now if KIMA can just get the CW 16:9, that would be wonderful.
service soon if you have seen their ads
