Still wonder why WTVA won't pull in. WLOV is full signal as well as WCBI.

In your market the 2 stations you mention are on UHF which I think the Mohu is designed for. WTVA is on VHF8 (remaps to 9) and I wonder if the Mohu works for that?

Do you get WMAB (PBS)? Reason is that is also on VHF (10...remaps to 2)

Yes we are pulling in WMAB with no issues all day today. Previously it never came in with any of my other antennas.

From the Mohu site:
Quote:
The Ultimate - An amplified powered indoor TV antenna with Clean Peak filter technology that removes unwanted RF signals and boosts the ones you want for the more difficult locations. Nothing like it on the market! Also with USB powering option and 16 ft. cable. Range is about 50 miles for UHF and 20 miles for VHF. Additional 5 dB gain than the Leaf Plus and improved filtering technology make it the best Leaf yet.

I'm 23-25 miles from the WTVA towers.

The reviews I've heard say that the Mohu is not very good at VHF. That would explain the missing WTVA. WMAB is probably just closer and thus overcomes the Mohu's poor VHF performance.

Makes sense. WMAB is closer, 15 miles versus 23. Might go the diplexer route later. I have to wean the wife of satellite first.

Oddly enough I moved the Mohu up a foot and PBS comes in like a champ.

Now if they could just get it "Over the Satellite" so I can stop paying extra for CW out of New York cause I can't have an OTA antenna at my location.

I emailed the general manager of WCBI about having the CW in HD on DirecTV. His response was that I need to contact DirecTV about having it added. I would advise everyone else to do the same as well.

What you will love is when you call Direct or Dish, they will tell you that, by the decision of the local affiliate, they were unable to offer the CW, however they would be glad with the submission of a release by the local station to offer you WPIX (on Dish) out of New York for an additional charge.

Its a mad circle.

WTVA-TV is getting a new owner.

After 57 years with the Spain family, the NBC and ABC affiliate is being acquired by Heartland Media, LLC and MSouth Equity Partners.

The deal was announced this afternoon.

Heartland Media already owns four stations — an NBC affiliate in Utica, New York, and ABC affiliates in Eugene, Medford and Klamath Falls, Oregon.

One can only wonder what changes will be in store....

WCBI is having transmitter trouble again. I hope they can work with Directv to get a direct fiber feed in place one of these days.

Out of curiosity which stations' CBS station did DirecTV pick up for WCBI customers until the problem is corrected?

My WCBI OTA signal has been much weaker since the last time its transmitter was knocked off the air in the fall. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes. Only on pretty clear days is it really good.

Since I posted this I moved my Mohu into the attic and pulled in WTVA for a change. WCBI is still flaky and I lost a few bars on PBS. I LOVE the Create channel. I'll be getting a better antenna in the next week now that my attic is working (clean) as intended.

Repair crews are hitting the final stretch in the efforts to bring WCBI Television back to full power. Several major components were restored overnight and another key step takes place today. That means we will be off the air starting at 1:00 Monday afternoon. We hope the disruption is contained to a two hour window but could go longer. Today’s work should be the last major outage in our repair process. WCBI thanks you for your continued support while we undergo these repairs and work to be your station of choice.

WCBI fiber link?

Does WCBI now have a direct fiber link to Directv? I noticed it stayed on the air on D* when WTVA / WLOV were knocked out due to a power outage Sunday. Just an observation.

Not sure if anyone is still monitoring this thread, but here is some initial word about the FCC repack for Columbus/Tupelo/West Point:

WMAE PBS Booneville (Actual:12, Virtual:12) is moving to actual 9
WMAB PBS MS State (Actual:10, Virtual 2) is moving to actual 8

However, there is a problem, since WTVA (Actual:8, Virtual 9) has self reported to the NAB that they are staying on 8. So far, there is no word about how this will be handled.

Sources:
Public Media Impact:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...aZo/edit#gid=0

NAB Repack Clearinghouse Search:
http://www.nab.org/repacking/clearinghouse.asp

The FCC is supposed to reveal the full details of the repack at the end of the month once the forward auction with telecom companies is completed. If any more information is revealed before then, I will update this post.

There was only 1 winning bidder in the auction from any of the 10 DMAs serving Mississippi counties.

It was Class A LPTV religious station WWTW 34 Senatobia, MS, located in the Memphis DMA. It agreed to go off the air for $485,661.00.
