I mistakenly posted in the TW forum last night regarding some OTA troubles. My bad.
I am in South Charlotte, off Johnston Road between Carmel Road and 485 (28226).
I had a DirecTV HR10-250 receiver with a Winegard MetroStar 2000 OTA antenna (multi-directional) installed yesterday.
When running the line straight from the antenna to the sat-box, we (my installer and I) got very poor OTA signals. To help with that, he used one diplexer outside and one inside. It seemed to work (during daylight). I was getting all the major locals (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC). Then, after dark, the Fox signal dropped way down (into the 20s). I hadn't touched any of the wiring. Still got the other locals, but not Fox.
This morning, same story. So, I went to Radio Shack and got an amplifier (15-2507). I brought it home, attached it and was able to get Fox...but not ABC. Grrr...
I also picked up the little Terk amplifier (waste of time) and a Motorola signal booster (same results as Radio Shack).
Finally, I gave up and restored the original diplexed connection. Now I am back to getting all 4 major locals, but ABC is still iffy. The other 3 get signals in the upper 60s to low 70s, while ABC is in the low 60s and drops out sometimes while I am watching it.
Believe me, I tried all sorts of configurations with the 3 products I mentioned as well as with/without diplexers.
I am at wits end. All of our shows are on CBS, Fox and ABC. I NEED Fox and ABC.
