Glad I put off making some changes to my antennas and tuners.

Will need to wait until this settles down.

Yeah. Was gonna get rid of the attic mount and replace it with a 7694p mounted outside pointed towards Hickory Grove. Nothing pressing though.

We don't yet know if anybody else is going to VHF except WTVI. Have to wait and see.

If a TV station changes broadcast frequencies as being discussed here, does it involve a lot of new equipment, or is it a simple matter of changing some software settings?

Depends on the station, but most will likely need a lot of new equipment.

Does a TV station request or negotiate what channel assignment they receive or is it strictly up to the FCC? In the previous transition from analog to digital, did early adopters such as WRAL and WBTV choose their channels such as 23? Or was that dictated by the FCC? WBTV is my strongest Charlotte signal, and I guess they knew the old analog 3 was not a good channel for digital reception.

Stations were assigned to their channels for the DTV transition, selected their channels for the analog shut-off, and are being assigned channels as part of the repack.
