SBN has cut a deal for National Cable coverage. They are ending agreements with local broadcast in many markets.

in Upstate SC we're in the same boat. WSPA's parent sold WYCW (CW 62) who likely will broadcast on WSPA's frequency. That means MeTV in the upstate will have to find a new home.
We have experimented with 2 HD's, and 1 and 2 SD's. It is not good if there is high motion in the pictures. Also some networks require a certain bandwidth for their signal as part of the agreement with the station. ATSC 3.0 will work much better. I have seen the signal you can produce. My guess with WJZY is that is why they never added the addition sub channel the first of the year.

That was my thinking too. Considering how Fox's splicer system works anyway I hope WBTV picks back up all the ACC syndicated programming or it will look awful when Fox is already airing Sports of their own

Glad to hear WBTV will remain on 23. And I guess FOX may move MyTV to WJZY and share channel 25 since WMYT is going off the air. Perhaps fewer subchannels. But SBN is available on Spectrum, satellite, and Roku. And may remain on WGGS in the Upstate.

I am concerned about the main HD channels rather than additional subchannels unless video quality can be maintained. But I do like H&I. But it has not been announced about what they will do with MyTV which is currently 55.1 main channel. Perhaps it will be dropped altogether, but I thought it may be owned by FOX also.

And I would like to see SBN preserved also as Jimmy Swaggart has very good gospel music. He still plays the piano very well, and still singing and preaching at 81 years old. Much better than Elevation and these modern ministries that some folks are now attracted to. But like I said he is on Spectrum, Roku, and WGGS in the Upstate.

It looks like no major changes for reception antennas will be required in the Charlotte area. A good UHF antenna for the major stations, and possibly a high VHF antenna for WTVI. And a preamp as needed depending upon location. Which will be good if no major changes in set up are required.

But what is the predicted time frame for the stations to transition to the new channel? Sometime in 2019? When is Transition Phase 5?

Looks like a few low power stations may go off the air in addition to WMYT. But I am not sure what will occur with the translators for WCCB and WSOC. Perhaps this has not yet been decided. But if WYFF is moving to 30, it looks like WSOC-CR may have to sign off or move, since WYFF will interfere in Shelby. I would hope WSOC could find a way to reach the areas west of Charlotte such as Shelby, and Kings Mountain, as well as border areas such as Rutherford and Gaffney. The Crowders signal currently reaches these areas.

Video hits on WSOC

Has anyone else noticed the video hits during primtime hours? The other night it got very bad with lots of white streaks flashing on screen. Looked like they were trying to change feeds to clear it because the program kept jumping back/ foward in time a fraction of a second.

What does this mean?

Thanks for clarifying. So about 2 years to go but I guess the planning may begin now. Such as ordering new transmitters or antennas or whatever technical issues may be needed. And when you are allowed to comment on the translators please let us know whenever that may be decided.

FOX did the same in DC where they sold WDCA Channel 20 which is going off the air. Probably channel share with WTTG FOX-5. I remember back when WDCA was a superstation similar to WTBS and was carried on cable in Charlotte.

I remember that too. Back in the Cable Vision days when there were only 12 channels on cable.

I believe the stations selling have to go off air much quicker... I think I remember reading within three to six months (Trip can you clarify?). I know some have already announced cut off dates. So the moves with WJZY and WSPA combinations will likely happen very soon

The off-air date depends on when the stations get paid. If it's going off air and not channel sharing, they have 90 days after receiving payment. If it's channel sharing, they have 180 days after receiving payment.

Channel 9.1 has been a disaster lately - signal freezes and hits are constant. Has Ted replied with what may be going on? Thanks.

I would really miss BUZZR, Decades (on 36.3), MeTV, and AntennaTV. I watch the sub-channels far more than I watch any of the primary channels.

What approximate time frame are we looking at for this? Another post mentioned 2019? If it really is two years away, I predict the stations will come up with a way to keep the subchannels, perhaps purchasing expanded equipment, etc.

WSOC has new drone cam, SkyDrone 9. Probably cheaper than flying that chopper all the time. Although the Chopper 9 probably still works best for breaking news and car wrecks.

I will happy to answer any technical questions concerning this event.
Is this happening earlier than June 1, Ted - maybe May 1? Today, my guide for channel 9.2 is now populated with Spanish-language program titles. FYI - it's guide data from ROVI (Channel Master DVR).

I am in Las Vegas for the NAB convention. There should not be Telemundo programming guide on 9.2. If it is, it will be disable. Telemundo launch is June 1. That has not change.
