Hmmmm, well considering Murdoch is putting in the neighborhood of $70 Billion for DirectTV to consider I don't think a mere $3 billion is anything to get excited about (in regards to a Echostar buyout)!

Three Billion refers to cash portion of the sale. But, GM has been insisting it wants five billion. I suspect the sale will ultimately go to Murdoch.

70 BillionText?!!!!

Has anyone heard speculation on just how E* would like to integrate the two different systems, to achieve some kind of synergy?

The synergy involved is:

* lots of customers
* only digital cable as a competitor
* enough spare bandwidth to support locals AND lots of HD.

They could also raise rates a few bucks every month and service lots of debt. Software development to convert the all the boxes is an easy year (if not more) worth of work.
