As of this morning about 7:30 I still had no signal on 28.1 or 28.2. Anybody else?

Tg.fl--- 64 & 256 QAM are modulation schemes used by cable companies. OTA transmission
uses 8VSB modulation.

WGFL-DT's tower got struck by lightning Saturday night. It should be fixed soon.

BTW - It won't be long before full power WGFL-DT goes up.

You sound like someone in the know. Do you know when WGFL-DT will start broadcasting in dolby 5.1?

For some reason, after the outage, I rescaned my channels, and now I am getting 28-3 & 28-4 instead of 28-1 & 28-2....anyone else see this?

Wow, I re-scanned as you suggested and 28.1 and 28.2 are now appearing as 28.3 and 28.4 but the signal no longer appears on 53-1. I guess the storm blew out a couple of circuits.

The re-scan discovered more weirdness, I am now getting 38-3, 38-4, 38-5 and 38-6 PBS out of Jacksonville when I used to get them (as expected) on 7-1,7-2, 7-3 and 7-4. Maybe the problem is with my receiver also even though it is on a UPS/surge protector. It works but it is odd.

Thanks for the suggestion to rescan. It would have taken me a long time to do that. I am using a DVR HR-10-250 Directv Tivo.

I received 28-2 for a little while yesterday, but this morning I was getting signal on both but no picture on either.

Hi all,

I just found this forum because my HD channels went cooky on me this week. Wed night I thought I Dived HD CBS, but a UPN show recorded instead! From what I've read so far, it sounds like lightning struck the station. Last night I still was missing CBS. I also read that someone did a re-scan but lost 53-1. Isn't that FOX? I don't want to lose that channel. Can someone advise me? Should I just sit tight and wait or be more proactive, doing a re-scan also? Any help is appreciated.

Probably since 28.1 was missing, it recorded 28.2.

Fox is 51 analog and they have their digital channel mapped to channel 51.

WGFL is digital channel 28 and analog 53. Their digital channel hasn't been mapped to 53 in a long time. Anyone who still gets it on 53 probably hasn't done a scan in a while.

It hasn't been mapped to 53 in over a year. Your re-scan probably just discovered that.

They may have removed their channel mapping too.

I have no date. I do know that they have the transmitter installed and now it's just a matter of getting the equitment to carry the digital signal from the studio to the transmitter site.

Will they be broadcasting the high-powered DT from a different tower than the current DT?

Just when I thought I had my antenna system optimized for DTV reception, a new compass heading...

I suspect you need to rescan the channels. You may have lost the setting during the outages. Just a guess. I have been watching WGFL-DT most of the evening. It is up and running

Well, the 12 Cox test channels now have channel labels in the guide. I see the Discovery Kids icon and a few other icons that I recognize -- but some I don't know. Would anyone that knows care to post a list of what they are? Thanks. I'm wondering if this means none will be HD then. I was really hoping...

I read through the 12 new channels and they appear to be Spanish channels. I remember Telemundo and Univision as two of them.

Ugh! Unfortunately for those of us waiting for more HD, you're correct -- they are now 'turned on' and appear to all be Spanish channels.

Has there been any recent word on full power digital from WCJB-ABC and/or WGFL-CBS? The only Gainesville digital station I can get reliably is WUFT-PBS. Good OTA reception is hard to come by in this area (White Springs). Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

The Explorer 3250HD has two 1394 ports on the back. I've never hooked anything up to them, but the manual claims you can connect them to a TV or VCR.
