The 7696 is almost 10 ft boom length so that wouldn't fit in the same attic location. 7694 was a nice practical sized TV antenna similar to what was already up there. Just didn't have the UHF performance of the old similarly sized AntennaCraft. The LPs like K31GL became unwatchable. I was surprised at the difference. I think Bob Nelson concluded the same thing.

Looks like you're roughly 30 miles from the towers. Not too bad. I'm the same distance but a different direction.

Possible VHF-only antennas (if you keep the one you have): Winegard YA-1713; AntennaCraft Y10-7-13

Possible UHF/VHF antennas (if you send yours back): AntennaCraft HBU-33 (mentioned above); Winegard 7696; Channel Master 2018; Channel Master 4228HD.
Ed just brought up a good point:

The Winegard 7696 and (I think) CM 2018 are rather big antennas; if you're putting the antenna in your attic or have limited room for any reason, you may want to avoid them and go with the HBU-33 or CM 4228HD instead.

I'm about 25 miles from the main towers, at an elevation of about 625 ft above sea level, have lots of ground clutter to get through from NW corner of Dallas to Cedar Hill. With the antenna in the attic using the signal indicator in the DTVPal DVR, am getting 98-100 on VHF Ch 8, and UHF stations 100 on Ch 4, 95 on Ch 5, 98-100 on 13, low power station K31GL 70-75. (Subtract about 10 to 15 from those numbers for the similarly sized Winegard I tried.)

The attic placement and using a small enough antenna boom length allowed me to move it around laterally, which I found is very critical. A foot one side or the other, or a slightly different angle made the difference. Can't do that without making more holes in the roof with the outside antenna (and risking falling off!)

Since my name came up, this gives me a chance to mention that my HDHR just died. As a result, the live scans at the URL below have to come to an end until I get a new one:

Possible 8-3 replacement? Gannett is referenced in this article:

Not too stoked about the programming, just something to watch out for.

Well, better than Live Well in my opinion. Wonder if WFAA will still pre-empt programming in favor of local events (graduations) and additional football games.

Had some great tropho this morning. Was picking up Waco's KXXV for at least 3 hours!

Anybody watch Telemundo (KXTX 39-1)? According to rdvegas in the Las Vegas forum, the Exitos TV network (39-2) has become more of a "COZI En Espanol" type of channel. My TitanTV app shows classic NBCUni titles such as A-Team, Xena, the Conan movies, etc. dubbed in Spanish. I know A-Team in English is free on computer Hulu, but still nice to have yet another retro network, even if it's not in my mother tongue. (Also means KXTX has a classic TV presence once again!)

Xena? I loved that show back in the 90's!

Telemundo often has English subtitles on CC3; too bad I don't see CC3 available on Exitos. If they were there, maybe I could pick up some Spanish while watching the reruns.

Incidentally, KXTX's PSIP is screwed up. (This has really become a pattern.) Xena is on right now but the guide shows Gitanas.

Make it the month for PSIP issues? 49.2 & 49.3 were OK last night, but 23.3 was "Regularly Scheduled Programming" again. So was 23.1 (Univision) except for the first few listings, which were OK. Makes me wonder if they're entering them manually

Edit: Here's what some of our local stations seem to be sending at the moment:
Fox 4: 48 hrs
NBC 5: 48 hrs
ABC 8: 12 hrs
CBS 11: 24 hrs
PBS 13: 72 hrs
KTXA/21: 12 hrs
KUVN/23: 3 hrs (they are complying with the letter, but not the spirit, of the FCC regulation requiring 12 hours by simply filling up the remainder with "Regularly Scheduled Programming" as noted above)
CW 33: 12 hrs (I'm guessing the guide's length took a big hit to address the cross-ups some of us were seeing between 33.2 and 33.3)

A couple of changes on the way to DFW low-power stations:

26.4, formerly one of several Hot TV affiliates, appears to be switching to "Rev'n" (http://revntv.com), which describes itself as "a new broadcast television channel dedicated to all things revving."

31.2, another ex-Hot TV affiliate, has switched to color bars.

Edit: Well, it was color bars last night, but they have Hot TV back on 31.2 tonight.

Hot TV remains on 31.3, 22 analog, and possibly 50.4 (I can't get channel 50 at the moment to check).

Yep 50.4 currently same as 31.3, Hot TV. 68-70 on both signal-wise.

"Rev'n"? A channel dedcated to revving engines?

Probably vehicles containing them; i.e., sports cars and the like. There's a trailer at their web page.

Just hope this isn't another in a long line of failed digi-nets. Remember Punch TV? Me neither.

I was channel surfing after the late NFL game today and noticed that Daystar's KDTN 2-1 is now broadcasting in 1080i HD. How long ago did they change this? I know that station was 480i 4x3 for as long as I can remember.

Even Trip has those stats updated at the RabbitEars page.

Interesting. DFW has a ton of religious OTA stations, but it looks like Daystar is the first one to broadcast in HD.
