KERA is probably getting their new screen bug graphic ready for "Create".
I noticed a new even more obnoxious and distracting KERA bug recently.

Interesting - so it's actually a mistake that it shows up on any tuner?

That's funny. I've been watching it from my HDHR Extend. The picture quality is "VHS" at best, but the programs are interesting.

The "Create" bug is already there. At least it was when I took this picture awhile back.

I figure they will add additional clutter to the "Create" bug like the do on "World".

I knew they were too optimistic. KVFW did get their transmitter going as of the 19th, only four days late; but still no channels or programming as of the 26th.

Perhaps it's time for a follow-up email?

Yes I noticed the deadline passed...I sent Teri Coyle 3 follow up emails and all 3 were ignored. Not surprising. They probably don't want to make anymore promises.

The clutter has been added!

They still haven't turned off the "hidden" flag (or whatever it is that keeps Create off many of my tuners) though.

We appreciate the attempt anyhow. Since KVFW's transmitter is working, I'm wondering if the hold-up is Luken's receiving equipment.

Seems like that was always the issue whenever 31.4 had problems. Remember last year when it took them two weeks to recover from an ice storm?

Tropo interference may be another issue for Retro's future home on KVFW/38. There are two full-power stations on RF 38 to the south: one in Houston and one in San Antonio. Bob's graphs show he's completely lost their signal each of the past 3 mornings. Sunday AM was especially bad. Edit: Tropo was even worse today and didn't clear up until almost 2 PM, but today was very unusual. Most days it should clear up by mid-morning.

Yep just great. One line tucked in neatly below the "create" isn't enough. I wonder if that new "KERA" is supposed to be a callout box or an abstraction of the old owl logo...

Maybe a little of both.

BTW, the tropo was amazing today. At noon Bob picked up KVEO from Brownsville, almost 500 miles south of here!

Tropo was more fun in the old days, when there weren't many stations. Nowadays, for every distant station you pick up, you lose two or three local ones to interference.

I'll never forget one day back in the mid 60's when I was looking around tuning around on the family TV (I was also an avid SW radio listener at the time), and ran across KIII in Corpus Christi, TX, playing "The Flintstones". It was snowy but watchable. We watched about 20 minutes of it before losing it. At the time, I was living in Aurora, IL, about 40 miles west of Chicago! I took a picture of the station ID (with, I think, my new Polaroid Swinger), and I know it's around somewhere, but I don't know where at the moment.

As of 2/1, Create is now showing up everywhere I couldn't get it before. Looks like they finally flipped off the "hidden" flag.

Also, Rovi finally dropped the silly "off-air" listing, so I have correct program listings on my DVR+. Before, I had good listings on my DTVPal and my Apex (via PSIP), but the DVR+ insisted that the shows I was watching weren't really there

Rescanned channel 38 again last night, but still "0 channels found."

Good grief. You'd think they could at least put up a "coming soon" slide, or even some color bars, just so we could get the future channels scanned in....

It's on!!

Retro on 38.1; Rev'n on 38.2 on my DVR+ and DTVPal. 38.4 and 38.5 on my Apex converter box and LG TV. Won't work at all on WMC. Somewhat like Create when it first started.

FINALLY!!

No EPG, but I'm assuming that like Create, they'll add PSIP in due time, so every tuner will show the same subchannel numbers. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll add an EPG when they do that.

Yep about time! Good to have Retro back. Looks good.
REV'N is still squeezed into a cube, have to stretch it, and has low audio compared to Retro.

My Sony TV won't add 38.1 and 38.2. The DTVPal did.

Still looks like 3x3 here. Unless I use the "stretch" mode.

They must have fixed the sound on the Retro 38.4 because it's coming in loud and clear for me. Also getting a stronger signal than the previous station. I got 80percent on the new station. And with 31.4, I was getting barely 75! Now if only they can remove the Retro TV name from the old channel on the tuner!

KVFW still needing some work. When I tune to it, my DTVPal DVRs take almost 15 seconds to finally display a picture, and the Sony TV still won't add 38.1 and 38.2.

I have to stretch Rev'n too, but not Retro. The only tuner I have that "remembers" aspect ratio settings is WMC, and it wouldn't work on the new channels at all. WMC must work like Ed's Sony TV.

They're a full 15kW if you're in their "beam." K31GL was 8kW.

KVFW is a little weak out here (I'm on the edge of their "beam"). Had to play with the antenna to get it, but it's working OK now.

Haven't seen any DTV drop-outs yet, but I have seen a few of the same colorful satellite glitches we used to enjoy so much on K31GL. Hopefully they won't be as bad as before, but they aren't entirely gone.

Well something changed, although not for the better (yet). On my Apex CECB I still have Retro on 38.4 but lost Rev'n on 38.5.

My LG TV did the opposite: it still has Rev'n on 38.5 but lost Retro on 38.4

Both channels still work on my DTVPal and DVR+.

In unrelated news, something's gone sideways with KXDA: I have 100 signal strength but 0 quality

So is it supposed to be 38.1 and 38.2, or 38.4 and 38.5 ???

Still taking 15 seconds or so to finally show a picture on 38.1 Retro with the 'Pal DVR. I assume your Pal is doing the same.

I'm not sure it's supposed to be either of those! Rabbitears.info says it's supposed to be 38.3 and 38.4; I guess we'll find out when they get it straightened out so it shows up the same on every tuner.

Yes, my DTVPals take a long time to "lock on" to Retro. Rev'n seems to lock on more quickly though

Only saw 38.5 briefly late last night. Otherwise, it is a black screen with a strong signal strength for all 38 sub channels with my RCA converter box. My Samsung HDTV does not see DTV channel 38 at all.

Well, it was fun while it lasted. Got to watch a little Dr. Who last night, but apparently they shut it back down sometime after that. Came home today and there's still a good, strong signal, but we're back to "Channels Found: 0"
