I thought HowardTV was going HD in April or at some time around there so the first couple months of shows from Sirius may not be HD. I don't know what else is needed for Comcast to provide HowardTV in HD via OnDemand HD. Maybe they need more storage space. They don't have any subscription-based content in HD at the moment so maybe ther eis more to it than bandwidth/storage space.

Correct. Just showed up in the last week or so. 480i with Dolby Digital sound.

This is really bizzare, because I just searched all of my digital channels and it doesn't come up at all.

Sounds like they are throwing it out on QAM, but haven't mapped it to a channel yet.

NGEO HD coming soon to a Comcast system (with available bandwidth) near you?

For anyone interested, here's a link to the post . . .

Anyone have any news for the areas that do not have available bandwith to add any new HD channels (I mean no new channels in 2006 at all areas). I guess I should start calling Comcast again (just like back in the SA8000HD days tring to get a SA8300HD box).

Although for getting more room for HD channels I doubt calling is going to help.

What's up with the ABC affiliate tonight WTNH? I'm getting only the background soundtrack on downrezzed dd51, everything is fine during commercials. Don't see other complaints in national forum, I'm PVRing WCBV as well so I can check later if it's a local only issue.

I didn't watch anything on ABC last night, but they have been good for not including the voice track on Desparate Housewives during the season. It happened at least twice during the season for at least part or all of an episode.

Let us know if it was a local thing or if it happened on WCBV as well.

I just tried to play Sunday's episode of Grey's Anatomy and only got the background tracks. My wife thinks I'm totally inept. Has this been an ongoing problem with ABC in metro Hartford?

I seem to have another new channel here on the Plainville system.

Channel 120 - SoapNET

The Tube continues on QAM 82.3, but it is still not mapped to a regular digital channel. Anyone have any inside word as to what is up with that?

See my response to Joseph S right above your question. Same situation I'm sure.

Anyone know if they've finally addressed the HDMI repeater problems with their STB?

Thanks for the info. I just saw it and was going to post, but you beat me to it as usual. It's in 5.1 and sounds really good, even if it was UB40 that was on when I was watching.

Hi,

I am currently a D* subscriber but I am thinking about switching back to Comcast. The reason for the switch is that I just upgraded to the latest equipment from D* on a promise that I would received NESN HD. As it turns out, I am not eligible for the NESN HD spot beam, and I have upgraded for nothing. Is there anyone in the Hamden, CT area that can comment on their experience with Comcast, especially for HD. If possible, I would like to see Comcast in action in someone's setup, before I continue down the path of switching to Comcast. I am especially interested in NESN HD, as I am a proud member of the CT chapter of Red Sox nation.

Thanks,

Ray

In case anyone hasn't noticed, or is interested, Nightmares and Dreamscapes is on TNT On Demand in HD under TV Entertainment > TNT > Nightmares HD

Another big surprise in Middletown today. WTXX-HD was added as Channel 235 and The Tube was added to channel 250. With no sign of digital simulcasting yet, I am not sure how they justified room for these channels. I won't complain though, even if WTXX-HD has been listed as available in some channel listings for about a year.

Just to nitpick, it's WTXX-DT. Anyways, The Tube is WTXX-DT 12-2, a.k.a. "20-2". My TV's QAM tuner gets this channel, NBC Weather Plus ("30-2") and the primary digital channel of WFSB, WTNH, WTXX, WVIT and WTIC. I have to get WCTX-DT (UPN...MY) with my antenna on 39-1, a.k.a. "59-1". Comcast doesn't carry them at this time. Seeing as MY-TV has nothing of interest for me, it won't be a big deal much longer.

Adding to Qixotl's report, WTXX-DT has shown up here on the Branford system, as well.

Maybe in the future they'll update add the guide data for NFL HD when they'll be pre-emtping INHD so we know what's on when. I happened to check earlier, as I have whenever game replays have been on, and saw that the Bucs/Dolphins game was on.

I read that in some areas, the channel was listed as NFL HD with the INHD guide data. (looks like someone got it backwards)

On my system NFL Network occupies both channel 180 and channel 275. I'm not sure why they need 2 identical SD channels and neither one is in HD.

We've got 3 (180, 275 and 611). I assume they have something to do with packages and/or something to do with their "themed channel lineup" or whatever they called it when they reorganized parts of the lineups.

yeah we have two also, i'd rather see them get rid of 1 or 2 of them to make room for full time NFL HD. I didn't see NFL HD take over inHD1 or 2 on Saturday, I was hoping to watch the Pats in HD, but when I checked at 8 it was the regular programming. Did they pre-empt it later on?

Seems to be that they are only pre-empting for "live" games or certain replays. Since there's no official announcment from Comcast who would really know what the criteria is for what games pre-empt INHD and which ones don't. All that we know for sure is that if Comcast is pre-empting that it's INHD (206) that is getting pre-empted.

Having multiple channels assignments for one channel does not take up more bandwidth. It's one frequency being mapped to multiple channel numbers in the guide to access the same frequency.

oh ok cool, thanks for the info about the multiple channels, makes me feel a little better. I haven't noticed WTXX yet (middletown system), but I will definately verify I have it as soon as I get home. Thanks for the heads up Qixotl, hopefully this means we'll start getting the channels most other areas have (espn 2, TNT, etc.)!

Just noticed the following, and it seems pointless.

886 ENT Entertainment On Demand
887 SHOP Shop 887
888 SLT SEARCHLIGHT On Demand
889 AUTO Automotive On Demand
890 IAD21 SEARCHLIGHT On Demand
891 IAD22 SEARCHLIGHT On Demand
892 IAD23 SEARCHLIGHT On Demand
893 IAD24 SEARCHLIGHT On Demand

Please, oh please, tell me there is a point to these channels/On Demand links.

Well speaking of ESPN2-HD has anyone got a slight glimmer of hope (any tidbit of news even slightly related) for us CT areas that do not have it yet???

I'm seriously itching for ESPN2-HD and that was before other regions of CT got it. I did have a conversation with a CSR when I called in a area cable outage and did nicely "grill" about the extra HD channels that other areas have and New London county doesn't. The funniest thing is she started out by saying "All areas are the same." Then I started listing off the evidence of channels are specific areas, she admitted they are different. That's as far as that conversation got (no info on when or why we don't have projection on the many HD channels we are lacking).

Ok I'm off the soap box.

Sorry for that.

Not one single NFL HD game on INHD today. Not even the live game that was on tonight.
