I mentioned it because I could see that for some it could get tempting if you have a box almost filling itself each weekend with Football (College, NFL, or other sport) in HD, a perfect world VOD of primetime stuff would free up hard drive space.

Again, I wouldn't be too fast to take up dependance on VOD. Actually I can't recall ever really using any VOD. Personally I'd trade VOD and Digital cable VOIP bandwith back for a whole ton of HD channels/content.

I didn't get a change to sign back on, but if I remember correctly Encore HD (i may be remembering some from Starz HD, which I finally got on Sat.). but they had
Hostage, The notebook, The incredibles, National Treasure, Little Black Book. That' all I can remember now. They had enough to make me consider moving from HBO to Starz at least until Sopranos/etc. start back up.

We now have Encore HD On Demand in the Canton/Avon/Burlington area (VOD > Premium Channels > Encore > Encore HD). I got a data error when trying to watch Hostage, but The Village worked. Kinda strange there is no shortcut to Encore HD from the HD On Demand area.

Also sad to say that it doesn't look like Network Shows are available in HD. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway. I thought the Network stuff was under "TV Entertainment" but it has it's own category.

Starz HD content is only accessible through Premium > Starz > Starz HD now and there's also a shortcut to the Network HD stuff. The network SD is free with commercials and the HD stuff is $1.49 per without commericals.

Reset your cable box. Unplug it, wait about a minute, plug it back in, and let it do it's thing. Once it's all set (should take a minute or two), try your On-Demand again. I had this same problem and this worked for me.

All Connecticut Adelphia systems will be rebranded to Comcast on December 4th.

As far as your comment about wanting locals in HD, I've got a bit of news for you. I was told yesterday by one of my sources at Comcast that we'd be getting WTXX-DT (CW, former WB) added this week in the Seymour and Waterbury Adelphia systems. Today, WTXX-DT was added as an unencrypted QAM channel, but does not yet show up on the program guide. I expect it to be live on channel 720 tomorrow. I don't know for sure, but Ii'm going to guess that your Adelphia system should also be seeing WTXX-DT added shortly as well. And, as a potential bonus, WTXX is owned by Tribune, which owns WTIC. Any agreement between Comcast and Tribune to carry WTXX would also include WTIC (FOX). So you may see FOX and CW in HD added any day now.

Comcast just added WTXX-DT on channel 720 here in the Waterbury area. Check to see if it was added to your lineup too.

Yup, most areas got it in February of 2005. Bandwidth starved areas got it within the last couple of months.

I'm very suprised that Comcast is giving us Adelphians any new channels before they rebrand us. Heck, all our stuff still says Adelphia.

Channel numbers:

149: Current TV
261: The Tube
262: NBC Weather Plus
720: WTXX-DT

Looks interesting. Hopefully you can still hit "guide" and go straight to TV listings.

Check out the Hartford - Cox thread. WFSB-DT appears to be down for OTA and on Cox and Comcast. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. One heck of a time for a problem.

WFSB-DT is back up here on Comcast in Middletown. We'll hopefully get 2.5 quarters of HD Patriots football now.

Soooo.....

Anyone hear any rumors of anything new being added on the HD front, especially for the areas (like mine, apparently - Groton) that have not added some of the channels other areas have? I am wondering about TNT HD and Universal HD to name but 2 I have heard other systems have.

I's sure love to watch my BSG in HD, even if it is just the reruns. Don't even get me started on the whole question of why a channel such as SciFi doesn't ALREADY broadcast in HD (especially since it's owned by NBC Universal!)...

Been quiet around here lately, I am also hoping for some new HD's soon that my system is lacking (espn2, etc.). Only new things I've noticed recently is a software update with the biggest features I've noticed so far being that when you turn it back on it stays with the last channel you were on instead of starting with OnDemand each time and if you go to watch that is being taped, you now have the option to start from beginning (instead of having to rewind to beginning) which is great. Anything else I havent' noticed yet (have SA box)?

Has anyone else (espicially on the Plainville system) had any trouble with the CW HD channel?

Last night the CW was a MESS during Veronica Mars, and last week Smallville was a wreck too. The picture would either completely pixelate or freeze up. The audio seemed to be ok.

Or was it just me?

CW (HD channel in the 23x's) also did the pixilation and Freezing during last weekend's West Virginia college football game. It was so bad that it completely wrecked the SA 8300HD's recording of it (SD by the way but recorded on HD channel just incase) with only the first 4 minutes or so actually playing and the pixilation / freeze but audio still continued.... (jump to end and rewind didn't help).

I had trouble with Smallville last Thursday. I watched it off my DVR (Moto 6412) and it pixelated and froze a few times. I could still hear the audio, but no video movement. If I hit skip 30 seconds it would jump to the next commercial break and I could begin watching the next segment. Sometimes it played the whole segment without a problem and other times it would freeze up again with just the audio continuing. This is the only show I watch on CW and the first time anything has happened when watching it. My wife hasn't mentioned any problems while watching Gilmore Girls.

Can anyone point me to a source for accurate guide data for WEDH-DT?

I get that channel, at least that's what Comcast claims it is, on ch 240. But as far as I've been able to tell, the guide data is always wrong, from 6pm each weekday evening until 10am the next morning. It seems to mirror the SD ch 14 during the day, but then they pick up PBS' HD programming starting at 6pm. There are definitely some programs I might be interested in, if I only knew they were on.

The Comcast box has bad data, my new TiVo Series3 has bad data, zap2it.com has the same bad data, and even CPTV's own web site has bad data.

Does accurate programming data for this channel even exist? (If not, I'd have to ask, why not?)

Any insight into this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else getting tons of static in their rear channels during 5.1 broadcasts on CBS HD? I got it last night during The Unit and tonight in Jericho. I would suspect my receiver first, but it's the only channel exhibiting it.

While flipping channels here in New Britain earlier, I seem to be getting a bit of that as well around 8:56 or so.
