How many games is NHL Network going to show in HD this year? This could be a really positive thing, because it could help me get back into hockey.

Excellent! Love Hockey. Miss the Whalers. Not the same without a major league team around.

Realizing Comc-Sn isn't FSN-East as it originally said, there have been Celtic Practice games and nothing on the new channel.

Definitely sounds like a good sign. Are the channels showing up digital through the box? Maybe they're just testing. I wonder if Cox would send the digital simulcast channels unencryted...

MHD been unencrypted for a few months here in 'locks, seems they come and go, last yr it was ESPN and Discovery HD
My Panny Plasma show's 100's of blank channels after doing a scan, it's normal, my LG-3510 Qam tuner shows only a handfull, most come and go in minutes as your getting what your neighbor see's watching On Demand.
Talked to a Cox tech few weeks ago, simulcast wont be around till at least next spring, as with the new Moto Boxes.

Digital SD's look a lot better than analogs on my 32" Samsung LCD. It all depends on the TV. Can't wait for digital simulcast in Suffield - then I can watch Ghosthunters on SciFi again...

Been watching The Hitcher and Varsity Blues a few times lately.

Does any body know if Meriden or southington CT went Digital Sim/cast yet?

If so .....how can an individual tell if it happens? or if it did happen?

And now the big question.......does anybody in here living in Meriden or Southington ct have the new Moto box? (Motorola DCH6416)...
I would like to know if someone has these boxes before i go venturing down to Cox in meriden and ask them for the "new" box....and they go ..."HUH"????? BOX...WHAT NEW BOX??????

Thanks.......

New box is really a disapointment, same small 160 gig HD, considering 300 gig drives are basically next to nothing bought in bulk, really lame considering Dish Network now allows over 1 TB external drives with there already 250 gig DVR's, i know my broinlaw has one setup.
I'll ask a cox tech if the new boxes are avail, last time i talked to them last month they said they saw them at a meeting but prob working the bugs out.

I live in Southington and noticed a huge difference in the quality of my analog channels about 2 weeks ago. I think we are digital now. I have one of the orginal moto boxes from 3 to 4 years ago (6212 ? i think.)

This is the new box. http://broadband.motorola.com/busine...416_settop.asp

Boxes are just now getting into technicians hands, so don't bother going to the front counter. There isn't that huge of a difference between a 6413 and a DCH3416, especially in a simucast area which is the only places Cox will let you have a DCH box since it does not have an analog tuner.

As far as the HD size is concerned, how much do you need? In digital simucast areas, the box is no longer recording the analog, so you should have plenty of room. Remember the DVR is NOT for archiving vidoe, just time shifting for your convenience. If you want permanant copies of stuff, why not just buy the DVD? That way you don't need to watch the commercials.

Still seems that it will not pass native resolution based on source. You still need to select an output. E.g. Fox-720, NBC-1080, etc.

Would be nice if they implemented the talked about watching your recorded shows with another box in your house, like i have 1 DVR in the living room and 1 HD reciever in the basement with my PJ, i refuse to pay for 2 DVR's!!, that was the purpose of a 3412.
Also activating PIP would be great for sports that are on the same time, having a 92" screen with PIP is worth it.
And letting you add additional hard drives for more storage would be a real plus, as this hasd been tried since the original 6208 DVR's came out 4 yrs ago.

Channel 727 (Comcast SportsNet) has had numerous problems with freezing issues. It's happened with college football in the past, and now tonight with the first Celtics game. Don't know who's fault this is, but this had better be fixed soon, because it's getting really annoying.

Here's a strange one. I live in South Windsor, and have Cox Digital with the Hi-Def DVR. I've noticed that if I am talking on my cell phone, that four of the new HD channels get choppy and cut out. (718, 726, 727, and 746). As soon as I hang up the cell phone, the channels come back and work perfectly. My cell phone is an AT&T 8525 and my provider is AT&T/Cingular, and its not cell phone specific either because my girlfriend has a different phone, a Nokia something or other with the same provider and her phone causes the channels to cut out as well. I called Cox, and all they did was say they could have a tech come out and look at it (seems to be their answer for everything). Any thoughts?

If you have any device that emmits a signal and it mixes with the TV signal it will cause the signal to break up. There is probably a wire or slplitter or loose fitting allowing your cell phone signal to mix with the cable signal.

I had the same problem with the first Celtics game, so I'm glad it wasn't just me or my old Motorola box that I'm using. I also switched it over to ESPN-HD and watched it there, the announcers may have sucked, but it wasn't freezing all over the place.
