I don't know if anyone from Cox still looks as this forum, but I just want to express how unhappy I am with my recent problem with my 2nd DVR.
The 1st DVR I got way back in 2005 has never had a problem, but when I added a 2nd DVR in our bedroom in 2009, I've had nothing but problems. At this point, all the Motorola equipment is used, and God only knows where it's been. Back in 2009, I had to return the box 3 times before I got one that worked correctly. When I finally did, it worked up a few weeks ago, when the DVR part of the box just stopped functioning. The DVR menus wouldn't come up at all, but the program guide still worked.
So after a long phone call with tech support, it was decided that the box needed to be exchanged, so I did that, and once again the replacement box didn't work at all. After being on the phone with tech support for over an hour as they tried to activate it, I exchanged it again. The new one worked and activated right away, but it's kind of ridiculous how many bad boxes are out there.
What really irks me is the person at the Cox store that I went to was very rude and just assumed that this was somehow my fault. I was also told on the phone that the person I talked to was going to call me back and issue a refund for my time without the DVR service, but that has never happened, so now I have to call and wait on hold again.
I've had Cox as a cable provider since 1995, had HD service since 2005, and broadband since 1999, but I've about had it.
