My complaint is they can change the package and I have no say. So why sigh up for a deal?

Unfortunately it is a problem for Cox as the contract with IFC allows for grandfathering of customers so anyone who had Variety in their bundle will keep it, where unfortunately Sundance does NOT allow such things. Seeing as how these decisions are made based on the contract had with the broadcaster, changes need to be made. When you subscribe to a bundle, you subscribe to the TIER of programming, not the channels themselves. If that were the case you're contract would be called the SundanceIFCTCMOxygenEtc Bundle. It's similar to internet where you're signing up for a package of service not a dedicated speed because things can/will change.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse here so here's my final thoughts. At last a reason I can understand. It's part of the business. Cox is in business to make a profit, as are all companies. Moving Sundance would be part of the goal of increasing or maintaining profit. Thankfully you didn't mention bandwidth, which I believe most Cox operators are told to use as an excuse. I'll guess 90% of Cox customers have no idea what bandwidth is.

As you said I subscribed to a tier, variety, but it was based on the channels included that interested me. I didn't pick variety and hope I'd like what was included, it was the channels. By the way watch it with that example of the SundanceIFC etc bundle. That sounds like a la carte, a no no to cable I believe.

So with the knowledge I have obtained from my experience with Cox, I will be able to make a better decision when my year is up. Yet another lesson learned.

I'm not sure where the point of "Cox just did it to make money" came out of my statement and how you missed the "contractual obligation with Sundance" portion of it. But we'll leave it at that I suppose.

Cox's new deal is $25/$25/$25 and a free DVR, well i'm paying $180 and i got no dvr, pretty pathetic when other providers offer free dvr's
I cannot get Uverse, for some reason for the past 5+ years they stopped to add anymore area coverage, dish and direct tv are my only other options

The 25-25-25 Bundle isn't one that includes free DVR. That promotion is available on the Gold Bundle and higher .. viewable at Cox.com

The 25-25-25 package is also the lowest tiers of the services offered, which are very different than what you have, Bud-man. You aren't paying $180 for service that Cox is offering for $75.

Will we see WTNH 8 tomorrow? Will Cox and Lin come to terms? Oh the suspense.
Antenna is ready. I don't need a price increase to keep 8.

Actually they've had several retrans agreement issues, if not specifically with LIN -- and that's also why Comcast has the highest average overall costs amongst cable broadcasters in the US.

Worry not, as of about 10 minutes ago, the agreement has been reached to carry the LIN channels going forward. Let's hope it was LIN who caved, and not Cox.

So i'm having a WHDVR installed tommorow.. Going to try it out for a bit, before i go out and throw away money on a Tivo Premiere Elite.. The TivoHD isn't cuttin it..

Is this thing 4 tuners or not? I'm a little confused looking at the documentation.. It mentions recording 4 things at once, but is that with one box? or multiple boxes?

Any info is appreciated! I want the multiple tuners!

Apparently the equipment has the capability of the four-tuner function, but as of right now it's only 2 recordings per host box. The client boxes are only playback and they do not do any pause/rewing functions on live TV.

Typical Cox offering's, always using there equipment to the cheapest least extent, just like all the useless buttons on the remote. PIP, Etc.....
Whats there DVR Hard Drive space now up too?, 200 gig?, still no external hard drive storage? only good thing is/was the live firewire port, then we have to use a HTPC to record our own to a .TS file
My Broinlaw for a long time using Dish network has several external drives hooked up to his receiver, something like 2 TB of recorded show's

I read an article this morning that Comcast has begun rolling out their Xfinity on demand service to Tivo Premier boxes in California today. I recall well over a year ago reading that Tivo and Cox had an agreement to offer their on demand library to Tivo Premier boxes. Now that Comcast has begun rolling it out, is there any news on the Cox front?

I'm not very happy about the continued loss of movie channels on Cox. Since last Sept Sundance, IFC, and now Hallmark are in the movie Pak. It's a warning to new customers that what you sign up for will be changed at the whim of Cox.

Anyone else use "phone tools" to manage call forwarding or call waiting? Over the last couple of months they have been giving me nothing but problems ... not working & giving non-descript errors. A call to Cox fixed the problem but it came back 2 weeks later. Now they tell me "it's not supported in this market (CT)". I get similar results with the web based, iOS, and Android tools. Any ideas?

I don't know if anyone from Cox still looks as this forum, but I just want to express how unhappy I am with my recent problem with my 2nd DVR.

The 1st DVR I got way back in 2005 has never had a problem, but when I added a 2nd DVR in our bedroom in 2009, I've had nothing but problems. At this point, all the Motorola equipment is used, and God only knows where it's been. Back in 2009, I had to return the box 3 times before I got one that worked correctly. When I finally did, it worked up a few weeks ago, when the DVR part of the box just stopped functioning. The DVR menus wouldn't come up at all, but the program guide still worked.

So after a long phone call with tech support, it was decided that the box needed to be exchanged, so I did that, and once again the replacement box didn't work at all. After being on the phone with tech support for over an hour as they tried to activate it, I exchanged it again. The new one worked and activated right away, but it's kind of ridiculous how many bad boxes are out there.

What really irks me is the person at the Cox store that I went to was very rude and just assumed that this was somehow my fault. I was also told on the phone that the person I talked to was going to call me back and issue a refund for my time without the DVR service, but that has never happened, so now I have to call and wait on hold again.

I've had Cox as a cable provider since 1995, had HD service since 2005, and broadband since 1999, but I've about had it.

My whole home DVR box is currently getting some sort of "updated software" from Cox, been going for a half hour now. I wonder what this is all about. I guess we shall see.

I find it hard to believe that Cox can't get email back up yet. Lost late 12/14/12 and still out as I post Sunday 12/16. That's a massive failure. No not TV, but Cox related.

Actually Cox made several explanations, are you not following any of their many media outlets? They had 6+ posts on Facebook/Twitter describing what the issue was, why it happened and what the ETA was. It was also very visible at BroadbandReports.com and Multichannel News, both sites very in touch with the Cable/Telcom industry.

Just because you don't look in the right places to find out what the issue is, doesn't mean they are not addressing it or communicating. Cox is actually one of the better companies for keeping their customers up to date through social media nowadays. I suggest subscribing to them on Facebook at least.

Well you are talking to an old timer. No facebook, no twitter and they won't be coming. You mention places I never go. Cox.net had reports of their progress, but after the return of service, no explaination that I could find.
Guess you told me. Can't say you have a lot of tact. Must be nice to be young and so smart. Just remembered a question I asked you posts ago. You never answered so I'll ask again. Are you Cox?

According to my brief Google search it sounds like there was an issue with their email storage platform. Cox.net says they're replacing their email storage platform equipment. It sounds like they had an issue with their email storage platform and are working on replacing it. Personally I would recommend moving away from your ISP's email account in favor of one of the many free email services out there to avoid situations like this (Concise article with other reasons to switch email providers).
