Hi Erik,

I prefer RCN personally. I find their HD to be a bit better quality than Comcast and their deals seem priced better. Their HD-DVR comes in two varieties right now, both Motorola units with the same functionality. My Motorola unit is the same as my girlfriend's who has Comcast. As you probably read the Tivo unit will be coming out on RCN in a few months.

Fios is available in the area but I'd check on the Verizon website to see if it's available at the address you're moving to (I'm not sure about Brookline).

I'd call RCN and see what kind of deal they can give you. When I called them they had some different deals that what is offered online.

Although if you look at their lineup I don't see BBC America HD on there. If that's a big deal for you you migh twant to go with Comcast.

Can someone with an RCN bundle including phone service swap the "pulse/tone dial" switch on their phone, and try pulse dialing? Presumably because the network is built without a Central Office, it's entirely dependent on your in-house equipment. Some old alarm systems (and Type 500 desk sets of course!) still *require* pulse dialing, and I was wondering if a typical recent RCN residential install supports this? Thanks!
