Numerous drop-outs in northern NJ Monday night on 502 and 507 and then around midnight all channels disappeared. On screen message said there was an outage in the area and at 1:30am service was restored.

Once WNET fixes their hardware I hope they'll re-program some missing shows. My 3 am Tuesday attempted recording of the repeat of Sunday's badly glitched 8 pm Masterpiece new series resulted in a black screen (no signal). Yup, the refugee problem in Europe and elsewhere is more important. -- John

EDIT: WNET is back on channels 13 and 513 as of ~2 pm or earlier today

It wouldn't be so bad if we had WNET on-demand, but for some reason we don't. My parents have it on their Optimum service at their house in NJ.

Luckily it seems that WNET (and most PBS stations) have most of their programming available for watching on-demand through their website these days....

Thanks. Having searched my on-demand service a few times for PBS, I concluded in error there wasn't any stored PBS programming. Puzzling why Verizon's Ultimate package, or any FIOS programming service, doesn't include VOD for PBS in NYC.

Meanwhile, like someone in the DSL Verizon forum, looking forward to a scientific explanation of 13/513's outage. While searching the 'net for solar radiation maps/charts yesterday came across a blackened U.S. map with only an ominous red zone above NY/NJ. Thought it had a title about the Japanese reactor leak. Moved on and couldn't find the map again today. Too fantastic. Started thinking about Orson Welle's 1938 "War of the Worlds" broadcast about Jersey. -- John
