For the past several months Ch 246 Blue Highways has been showing a reduced size image, letter boxed on all sides. Looks like the 4:3 image is in a 16:9 frame in the 4:3 SD channel. Anyone know an e-mail or phone number to report this to the Verizon headend? Going through tech support hasn't worked. Seen this issue once before when ch 39 WLVT was first added to FiOS.

Disney Jr SD was added on Channel 260 and Smithsonian SD on 134 today in VHO8 and VHO7. Smithsonian HD also moved from 625 to 634.

Also, as some other areas also noticed, the MLB Extra Innings / NHL Center Ice HD channels have moved to 1470/1471.

This is to make room for the launch of 3 additional HD channels (Channels 3-5) on 1472, 1473, and 1474.

I am calling this out as these will be the first pure MPEG-4 HD channels on FIOS. Only Motorola 7xxx STB's and Cisco's will be able to view these channels.

This is only the beginning. Some additional channels have already been identified that will convert also to MPEG-4 in order to create more capacity.

Will CableCARD tuners work with the MPEG-4 channels?

Will the new channels be lesser quality than conventional HD channels?

not likely unless indemand provides a feed that is bad as these channels are sent out Native MPEG4 HD off of the satellite. Any cable provider is having to convert the MPEG4 feed to MPEG2 or only allow MPEG4 devices to receive GAME1 HD and GAME2 HD and TEAM1 HD. Any thing other than those GAME3-9 HD and TEAM2-9 HD are as far as I know are being sent out by providers in an MPEG4 only format format I know Time Warner Cable and Bright House are doing this with the channels being MPEG4 SDV.

Verizon should be passing on the 8Mbits per second MPEG4 feed directly or recoding it to be 12Mbits per second per channel since they will be on a single QAM with 3 channels. 8Mbits MPEG4 is roughly equivalent to 16Mbits MPEG2.

No. Feedback so far is that quality is better.

Yes. But the device you use to watch the channels may not be compatible. Check the stats for your device to see if it is MPEG4 capable, and even that is not a guarantee. I *think* Tivo Series 4 devices work, but I'm not sure.

Those three MLB channels don't work on mine. I guess I have an older 500g device.

I'm here. Yes, I got the darker grid on my QIP-6416. No, I haven't bothered to upgrade it.

Nothing on 249.

From: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com
"MeTV has announced official station start dates for Philadelphia/Allentown and Cincinnati. We hinted at Philly last week, but now we have a start date! Starting Monday, July 4, they will add MeTV to its growing lineup of digital channels on WFMZ-69. It will be found on 69.3."

I don't think we would get MeTV on FiOS before it goes live OTA.

Darker guide here as well.

Wow is this thread dead. Has anyone else had any luck getting a new deal as an existing customer? My deal has ended and I've had no luck getting a new deal by phone or online. I guess I'll have to switch back to Comcast, though their deals aren't all that great right now either.

You consider 3 months dead? wink.gif

I was able to get a $250 gift card for signing up, and they also dropped my monthly price by $5. And offered HBO for 12 months for half price.

That was about 2 months ago, but kind of hidden on their site.

I can't imagine going back to Comcast. The more I see it at people's houses when I visit, the more I love FIOS.

I am in the same boat. I tried but they only offered me a prepaid Visa card if I sign for two years. Not good enough especially after my bill went up$35 for the triple play after the 2 year price expired.
I am going to switch to comcast for a month (they have 30 day money back guarantee) and then maybe use my wife's name as a new customer. lol

I was thinking about doing that too but sticking with Comcast for a little while until another deal comes along for the free Multiroom DVR for life. I hooked my friend up with that deal a while back with the refer a friend and got the $50 gift card. Seems like the Comcast triple play deal right now wouldn't be bad if it was for 2 years but the price goes up the second year. I've been trying to figure out when the best time of the year is to switch. It doesn't seem like the deals are that great right now so I'm wondering if this is a bad time of the year for deals.

I think the deals may have been better a few months ago. I've read some people say the Comcast picture quality has improved so it may depend on where you are and maybe the quality of their tv.

Yes Redzone says I'm not subscribed even though I've had it the last years and haven't changed my plan. Been trying to get through to Verizon with live chat and phones but the wait time is over 20 minutes.

I was just getting ready to post the same thing! What the heck is going on? I don't think I've ever seen anything likre this. And it's not just a glitch, since they're running 2 or 3 commercials at a time.

I posted this issue on the Hot Of the Press thread and someone from VH07 said they did not have the same problem. So I guess it was just us.

No NFL Redzone here in Pottstown, and I can't get through to Verizon. Anyone else having trouble?
