I could tune channel 20-1. You should try moving your antenna, our checking the cables that connect to the TV. They were showing the Simpsons Movie at that time anyway, and they showed the Closing Ceremony at a later time.

Newsflash

Since yesterday Canal 44 XHIJ has been available on channel 45. They are in 1080i 16:9, and they don't show Stretch-o-Vision. Yesterday I only saw at most 2 hours of programming, the rest was just a loop of commercials for their shows in HD.

What? Ch. 45.1? Will have to rescan, at least that range..

I'm still waiting on the 56 going digital....

I'm currently looking at local HD pay systems

SKY HD; Waaaayy too expensive, you'll pay over $150 US a month for 2 TVs.. no way
Dish HD: Waaaayy too little HD channels, like 6 including Azteca and Televisa ones.. no way
Cablemas HD: Several HDs, not as expensive as SKY but they SELL you the local HD channels.. lame..

2012 is here.. very small chances...

45-1 most programming is still SD with the HD logo on top (who are they kidding?)

Only HD on 45-1 is ONE camera in he studio.. that's it, they have one camera total.

So in studio shows only one camera will have the HD while the 4-5 around will do SD.. it's kind of annoying constant changing from 4:3 SD screen to 16:9 HD screen.

Still no news on channel 56 going digital.. Other local channels still the same, no news on when they will change.

Yeah, 2012 is here.

I´m still waiting for XHBJ-TDT to go on the air. The Summer Olimpic Games are coming and, i don´t see anything on their transmitter facilities (works on their antenna tower). Looks like it will take long to watch Canal 5 HD here in Tijuana.

On the other hand, according to a recent document of additional channels by Cofetel, the only new additional channel for this region is Ch. 46. So, it means that this will be the channel assignated to future XHTJB-TDT 3-1 (Oncetv México HD).
http://www.cft.gob.mx/swb/Cofetel_20..._mil_habitates

By the way, XHTJB-3 (analog) is broadcasting the signal of Oncetv México HD and, i´ve take some time to watch their programming and, most of it´s programming is in 16:9 HD. I can´t wait to watch this channel on their digital transmitter signal soon. Yeah!

In my opinion, Oncetv has the the best programming in Tijuana and looked OK on 4:3 sets. But now it's picture is stretched or has bars on the sides. I hope the local station goes digital soon.

As for analog 45, the only thing I watch it for is WWE Raw, which isn't offered OTA in San Diego. Other than that it just seems to offer reruns of gringo programs like Law and Order (yuck).

Since yesterday i noticed that a new subchannel is being broadcasted on XHUAA-TDT 57-2. It´s XEQ Televisa 9 (Galavisión) from Mexico City in 480i format. Wow, it took long to Televisa to decide to, at least, broadcast the 3rd. televisa network on a subchannel (if not by a new channel) from the existing ones in Tijuana (XEWT, XETV are the others).

I remember that Galavisión was being broadcasted in Tijuana on XHBJ 45 until August 9 2004 when Televisa decided to make the network change to XHGC canal 5 to cover the Athens summer olympics since then up to date.

Now, let´s see if Azteca will broadcast Mexico City´s "XHTVM Proyecto 40", at least, on an open subchannel sometime soon.

Now, it only remains when will XHBJ decide to air it´s digital channel.

Oh, and by the way Joe, if you can watch XHTJB 3 on a widescreen tv, you will see a good simulation of how will it be when it´s digital channel becomes available.

I believe since yesterday that Televisa Tijuana made some changes on their tv signals.

XHBJ 45 now broadcasts (and is back again to be) Televisa´s XEQ 9 "galavisión".

XHGC canal 5 is now being broadcasted on XETV 6 analog. It also broadcasts digitally on 6-2 on a 480i SD format. I believe that they will be broadcasting their full programming or, it will broadcast 24/7 (formely on XHBJ 45 it only broadcasted from 4 a.m. till 11 p.m.)

San Diego 6, The CW network is now available only on XETV-DT 6-1.

Since more than a month ago, XEQ 9 "galavisión" is also available digitally on XHUAA 57-2 on a 480i SD format.

My question is, since canal 5 moved to XETV 6, how or when will be broadcasting their HD signal in the near future? Since the London summer olimpic games are coming soon, Televisa has a disavantage over Azteca on HD broadcasts in this region. And also, when will XHBJ 45 go digital?

Will XEWT 12 add FORO TV on a subchannel (12-2) soon? Who knows...

Today i noticed that the programming of XHGC 5 on XETV 6 analog and 6-2 digital is 2 hour delayed, just the same way XHUAA broadcasts XEW 2 locally.

So, have in mind that the programming schedules are in local time.

XEQ 9 galavisión on both XHBJ 45 and XHUAA 57-2 broadcasts their live signal from Mexico City.

Glad to hear that Televisa's canal 5 went digital here.
Guess the only network left to convert here is Oncetv.

Here in SD/Tijuana, I don't get any subchannels on the two Azteca channels anymore with my converter box. I used to get their audio. Can anyone who has a computer or mp4 box verify this ?

Heads up!

Re-scan channels..

Chanel 5 has gone digital!

Not only that but the 5.2 is a FULL HD non-stop music videos (24/7 no commercials all HD)

That's the "poor" XEJ TV, one of the oldest Mexican channels, first station that broadcasted outside of Mexico City in spanish..

I've also heard that Local Channel 2 (Televisa Juarez) will go digital on July 1st...

What's going on with Tijuana's analog 45 ?

Couple of days ago they had just a black screen but this weekend it was completely off the air.
Nothing's wrong with the programming as 57-2 is OK.

Is the analog transmitter broken ?

Anybody have any ideas ?

No. XHBJ-TV 45 is off the air because it´s employees (which are Stirt syndicate members) are on a strike. XHBJ is owned and operated by Cadena Baja California. Also, their 3 CBC radio stations (XESPN 800 kHz, XEBG 1550 kHz, and XHMORE 98.9 MHz) are also off the air because of labor problems with the CBC management and it´s employees (Stirt syndicate).

I don´t know how long it will last but the syndicate will remain on strike until the CBC management agrees and fulfills their demands. This is the second time in the last 2 years that occur the same problem with this company.

Channel 44.1 now has HD cameras, not only one this time, they seemed to get several and even on the field now.. They took like 2 weeks to get the tech working (they were only broadcasting in analog)..

Azteca HD, now will display "disponible en HD" on the HD programming (available in HD), so if you don't see that message pop up on the screen it's good news.....

They are still lacking some SAP, even if it says "SAP" on screen they aren't transmitting the SAP audio.

Most likely what "MP11" is curious about is if any TV stations in Mexico are actually broadcasting on the low VHF band as opposed to identifying themselves as a low VHF station through virtual PSIP IDs. XEJ (5.1 and 5.2) in Juarez actually broadcasts on channel 50 and indeed analog channel 5 continues to occupy the real RF5. Channel 2 in Juarez, XEPM, I believe will be broadcasting on channel 41 in the near future, but again their analog channel 2 will stay on the air. At this time there are no VHF digital channels in Juarez.

Exactly. The reason I ask is because of TVDXing purposes. Wondering what Mexican cities out there broadcast in digital (RF chs 2-6) that might be reached via e-skip. But it's looking like most are moving to UHF. P.S. I actually catch XEPM-2 "tu canal" and XEJ-5 quite often.

Pretty much lost hope of Channel "5" from Mexico going digital, all olympics they are showing are horrible analog and low power, can't get that channel (56) to decent viewing standards even with power amplified roof antenna..

KCTD-CD is now on the air broadcasting Univisión HD on virtual channel 17-1 and Telefutura SD at 17-2 on channel 25.

Do you have an idea of what will happen to KDTF-LD 51 (virtual channels 36-1 and 36-2)?

KBNT-LD 51 (36-1,36-2) is a separate channel than KCTD-CD 25. I don't expect any change. If anything it provides Entravision (owner) with a larger coverage area given that one transmitter is on Soledad and the other on San Miguel.
