In the Xbox menu's it says 1080i...yes or no.. when I select yes

And plug it into my lovely 1080i Jacks...

I get weird scanning

From what I gather.. Nearly everyone Else having this happen too (on othe video game only boards)

you guys being the smartest of the smart...when it comes to HD...

I was wondering.. have any of you?

And if you did... whats the trick (because Damnit...there is definately something freaky going on here)

Are you using the Xbox High Definition AV Pack? I imagine it is necessary to get 1080i.

I hooked up the xbox using the same cable/input as I use for my hd receive (Dish 6000) and the xbox worked fine. I don't think the games downconvert to 480i because I couldn't really tell any difference than the component input - both looked great!

I think games have to support 1080i for it to work. As far as I know, no games support 1080i right now.

So games don't upscale to 1080i?

How can you get 1080i from a Xbox, and can you get the DVD pack to give you 1080i also.

Think of it like a GIF or Jpeg picture. If it's a 50 by 50 image and you make it 100 by 100, it's going to look bad. The information has to be in the source to make it 1080i. If the source is 480i, then there's not enough information to make it bigger. Same thing goes for DVD. They're in NTSC (or PAL as the case may be) and they can't be turned into 1080i. I suppose they're could be some way to, but the result would look bad.
